The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

YES! I love that show! It is so amazing!!!!! My old hometown did a production of it. It was fabulous. If you can see it go for it!

I am happy to hear that you loved it. I am in rehearsal for a production right now (Joanne) and am curious as to how theatre goers will respond to it. It is certainly not your mainstream musical theatre offering. I am really loving the show though! The music is fantastic!! :cool1:

We saw Peter and the Starcatcher last night. What fun!!! Took a bit to really get going, but the 2nd half was fabulous! For those of you that have seen it recently, is Black Stache's hand supposed to fly off the stage and into the audience??

It is! I saw the show almost 2 years ago in NYC and about 2 weeks ago in Providence and it happened both times.

Thank you, we were wondering! Black Stache is the funniest character I have seen on stage in a long time!

On our way to see Matilda. We got these tickets from a charity auction, house seats, should be great.

Boyfriend just told me he participated in another auction, and bid on tickets for Book of Mormon. Guess who is going to see Book of Mormon.

Matilda was great, we really enjoyed it. Book of Mormon is on my "to see" list.

I saw Book of Mormon nearly three years ago, and I still haven't stopped laughing. :rotfl2:

My mom and I went to TKTS this morning, and got tickets to the matinee of Pippin. We loved it! The only other version I'd seen was a high school production in the 90s (I've been in love with the music ever since), and this production was amazing.

Next weekend, I'm seeing Waiting for Godot with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, which I'm totally excited for. :thumbsup2

I'm about to see Pippin for the 6th time in the past two weeks! OK, it's my son's high school production. I couldn't resist seeing every show because my freshman DS is playing Pippin! The cast is rocking it. I love the music and would love to see it on Broadway someday!

Loved Pippin. I really like how they held onto the Fossee choreography from the original production but also added the acrobatics.

Hated Godot. Loved the actors but I am really not into existentialism. The performances were wonderful. I think I would have been better off seeing the other play.

I'm seeing Beautiful: The Carole King Musical next weekend. I'm so excited - I read Carole's book a few months back and I didn't realize how much music she wrote that I actually know, so I downloaded Tapestry and it's become one of my absolute favorite albums. I haven't been to NYC since July and the last time I saw a broadway show it was last February, so I am long overdue! I also saw Peter and the Starcatcher last month in Providence and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw it with the original company in New York a few years ago and it is such an intimate show that I thought it was going to get lost in the barn that is Providence Performing Arts center (it seats about 3,000 or so), but it was great.

My son is nine and I think would do great in theater. I'm trying to encourage him to try out for his school's play next year (he attends a magnet school for arts and humanities so the creative arts are really emphasized). I've always wondered if I would attend every single production (of a single play) if he were cast in a role, and I have to admit, I think I would! :rotfl2: I definitely don't blame you!;)

LOL. When my daughters took dance class, their studio had an interesting approach to recitals. Rather than have one or two recitals that dragged on for hours, the school had "recital weekend", with numerous shows Saturday and Sunday. If your child was in one class you would attend a single, two hours long performance. You might have to attend two separate performances if your child took a second class.

If you had two daughters, each taking multiple classes, and who were in the company, you'd be there for every single performanc. Every. Single. Performance.

My daughters dance school did that also! It was painful. When she was in a play at CM Performing arts I went to every single one-normally I do with her other theater group but those are only 3 shows-CM runs much longer!
