The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Buddy Holly in particular, I loved him. The vocal talent in the two leads was amazing!!! He gave me goosebumps a couple of times. I would pay to see it all again, just to see the final number again! It had a similar vibe to Rock of Ages, but not as good overall.[/QUOTE]

I loved Buddy Holly, too. And Scaramouche had some pipes on her! (Plus, in my opinion, a really engaging manner.) No substance whatsoever to the show, but it was a lot of fun.

Her somebody to love was breathtaking!!!

So excited!

I love "Chicago". We are seeing it in February.

Guess who will be play Mama?

Bebe Neuwirth.

She's done Velma, she's done Roxie. And for 6 weeks this winter she'll be Mama.

If you go to the deal news website they have a deal for a free broadway album download from iTunes. The album has songs from Newsies, Wicked, Once, Cinderella and many more.

I saw Matilda in July, and I was immediately in love. GREAT show with amazingly talented kids. I am returning to NYC in June with two friends, and we are seeing Hedwig and the Angry a inch with NPH and If/Then with Idina. SO excited!

I got tickets for Hedwig too! I'm a big Hedwig movie fan, I love the music (I have two different soundtracks of it) I've just never saw the play. And with NPH?! It's going to be awesome!

I bought my daughter a pair of front row Les Mis tickets for Christmas! Its not until a Thursday in July but I was trying to get them the week I was on vacation, figured we could stay over Wed Night till Thursday night and catch a Wed Matinee and a Wed evening show.
Also got tickets for Jan for Cuff Me- the fifty shades of gray musical parody!

On Thursday I saw First Date and it was HYSTERICAL!! I have no idea why it is closing already. If you are in the area and can get tix before they close on Jan 5th I would highly recommend it. My dd commented that the main character reminded her of Flynn Rider - well it was him! I totally forgot Zachary Levi was Flynn..his timing was perfect and voice amazing. Got tix last night for Hedwig and If/Then.

2014 is turning into the musical trip year for me! Have the Broadway package at DPAC and have seen Sister Act and Ghost so far there. Saw Cats in October which was interactive..but now moving onto this year...

Once, Book of Mormon, Evita (twice in March), Ghost (again), Wicked and then Once again in October. :-) excited for them all but anxious to see what will be coming in 2014-2015 season too.

Pippin. Best musical I've ever seen. Unreal.

We are seeing Cuff Me(fifty shades of gray musical parody ) next Sunday- the Saturday after that we have 6th row tix for Lion King and just got tickets for Pippin on Feb 1st!

Anyone hear about an Off Broadway musical called "Handle With Care"? It stars Carol Lawrence, the original Maria from "West Side Story".

One of the producers is a friend, my boyfriend has known the guy since the 70's.

We are going to get tickets to see it next month.

I have never heard of that- I also never heard of Bullets over Broadway but we have tickets for that in May. I went to see Big Fish even though I had no clue what it was about and really liked it so I am willing to give anything a shot I guess!

Has anyone seen Beautiful: The Carole King Musical yet? I'm hoping to go see it in March when I'm in the city for a family event. I have friend who is in the ensemble and so I've been following its progress since they did their out-of-town-tryout in San Francisco in September/October. I didn't realize how many songs Carole King wrote that I actually know, and so I'm reading her book before I go see the show.

Isn't Bullets Over Broadway based on a Woidy Allen movie? It was a funny movie.

Haven't seen it yet. Wondering if they will deal with her romance/ friendship with Neil Sedaka? They dated in college.

I took this tonight on my way home from work. They just put up the fancy new LCD marquee for the upcoming Les Mis revival. However, they still haven't taken down all of the signs from Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, which left this rather unfortunate combination:

ROFLMAO! I was in the city tonight (my daughter had an audition) and I was tempted to stay and pick up a couple tickets for a show tonight but the weather was crappy so we just came home. Sunday I am seeing Cuff Me.
