The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

My kitty has a crush on Anthony Warlow. He is currently playing Daddy Warbucks in Annie. He was in a lot of Australian productions: Enjorlas in Les Mis, the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, and Archibald Craven in the Secret Garden. I love his Enjorlas, so I am always listening to clips from youtube. I was listening last night and my cat sat next to me, laid down, and started purring. I think someone is in love.

I had a weekend full of Wicked in Charlotte. I attended 4 shows in 5 days...2 of which were planned 2 were not. I was lucky enough to attend a benefit they put on after the show on 3/28 and that alone was amazing!!! The cast I knew was extremely talented outside of musical theater, but this just proved that even more. :-) I was lucky enough to be taken backstage also, which was amazing in itself. I was also at the final show of three cast members and that was bittersweet and tough. But I enjoyed every second of it and now have seen the show 22 times and taking a break after this. Can't bring myself to see a new set of cast.

So excited because Kinky Boots got good reviews when it opened this week. Glad we've got tickets!

We saw Kinky Boots last night. The first act was great. I thought the second act was a lot less great, but the whole show is super fun.

Headed to NYC next week and seeing Annie, Wicked (yes I just saw it but its Broadway gotta see your favorite there) and Lion King. Haven't seen Lion King yet and super excited!!

Went to NYC last Saturday to see Rogers and Hammerstein Cinderella. What a wonderful production! The scenery, the costumes, the dance numbers, the music of Rogers and Hammerstein, the comedy and most important the talent of the cast was exceptional! It was a magical evening. I would love to see it again.

We saw Kinky Boots last Sunday and loved it! Billy Porter is nothing less than fabulous, I've rarely been so entertained. Funny thing is we bought the tickets because we loved Stark Sands in American Idiot. He was also wonderful. The costumes are great and I think Cyndi Lauper did an excellent job on the score. I see Tony's in the future for this show!

Sorry if anyone has mentioned this already, but has anyone seen Treasure Island, the Musical? How was it? Does it follow the book/movie script?

I saw Sister Act in Providence on Tuesday and I got to play critic! I work for a local newspaper as a copy editor and our paper has press tickets to just about everything that comes through PPAC - only catch is we have to write a review. I jumped at taking the Sister Act tickets months ago. Here's my review (for some reason a few paragraphs got cut... grr)

Not Broadway exactly, but just wanted to share that my husband and I are both in a community theater production of The Producers next month. He is Roger DeBris, and I am Shirley Markowitz, among other smaller ensemble parts. We are in that last rough few weeks where you don't think things are going to come together...but it always does. I love that it is an interest we have and common and something that we can do together.

So if any of you are in the Northeast WI area and want to see a great show, come see us! :)

Nice review. I saw it on Broadway at the Broadway theatre and really enjoyed it. Saw in when it toured through Orlando and didn't care too much for it the second time.
