Back in Jan. our DS decided to set a goal for himself. He wanted to be the Division Champion for the youth 2 Brown/Black belt division(11-12yo). This would mean placing and/or winning in each Open Karate tourny this year. We spent many hours at the Dojo and at home working on his Katas and sparring. Well on Sat. he reached his goal. He was awarded the Grand Championship for the division
. Through the year he won 2 first places,1 second place, and 2 thirds with his Katas. As a reward his Sensi will be awarding him his next belt rank(he was due to test anyway) with out having to test
. I am proud of the win but more proud that he set a major goal for himself and did what he needed to achieve it. He also managed to keep an A average in School and play on 2 soccer teams at the same time. The Boy does amaze me at times
Now if he will only get his dirty clothes in to the hamper

I will pass them on to DS. I'm very proud of him. His next step will be testing for his Black Belt when every his Sensi believes he is ready. He has already picked a training partner and is bugging one of the Black Belts at the Dojo to teach him the Kama weapons Kata(he is good with the Bo staff but needs two weapons to make Black Belt). I'm very glad he has found somthing he likes to do and is willing to put forth the effort to excel at it. Of course it does take a size 9 4E starter to get him going sometimes
