~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hi Howard Running has been tough lately, hasn't it? I'm having a real hard time motivating myself. My feet/ankles are SO much better since the acupuncture on my calves . Still can't believe that that was the reason for such discomfort, very interesting.

Hi Jodi. How are things in New England? Feet still giving you trouble or did the needles work? I am on my way to Philly for a meeting and I'm bringing my running gear. I think I may just run some insane # of miles after the meeting because there is no reason to rush home and get caught in shore traffic. :thumbsup2

Hi Howard, how are ya?:rolleyes1

Hi Jodi! (& Crazy Lou) I am on the fast slide to Slackersville! Help! Two days in a row with no running! :scared: Tonight I got home from work and Cam and Andrew took me to see Transformers, what a great flick. So I sit here full of movie popcorn feeling like a slug. :sad2:

Tomorrow I am playing golf at 7:30 AM in Wilmington. I have a new set of Callaway X22 Irons, a new putter and a new Callaway bag. I am ready to rumble. I am really looking forward to using a new set that is fitted to my swing style and stance. I hope it makes the difference.

I'll definitely get some miles in on Sunday (if possible), it is Andrew's 16th Birthday and we are having some company over (cookout, etc.).

Have a great weekend!

Howard and Jodi: thanks for keeping the thread alive

Jodi: glad to hear your feet are diong better, I have this strange needle-phobia and can't imaging voluntarily getting accupuncture :confused3

Dave: I liked the Castaway Cay blog-- makes me really want to go on a Disney cruise now

As for me, it's been a crazy summer and I jsut can't seem to keep up. DD5 is finally in camp so I have a little more time now but we are packed full of weekend commitments and kid parties-- fun but exhausting. Her birthday is in a few weeks so I've been caught up in planning a Webkinz Party.

We are getting ready for our Disneyland trip for the 1/2 marathon. I had a frustrating situation with Dreams Unlimited tavel. We were hoping to get in on the deal they were planning for the weekend and emailed them in April asking about it. I was told to wait and not book anything to aviod a change fee and just to get the room when they had all of the details worked out. Many emails later the story remained unchanged with them telling me to wait and me starting to panic that it was getting late. Well, the deal they were arranging fell through and we then had no room after sort of promising DD5 she could stay on property. I felt a bit :headache: that I let them talk me out of a "backup" reservation and was now stuck with nothing and they were not being hlepful in resolving the situation. Fortunately fate stepped in and GET travel was able to get us something because someone had literally called to cancel a few minutes before I called to book. It all worked out, but I was really frustrated and pissed at the situation. Sorry for venting, I sould get to bed now....

Wow, Jen, I am glad it worked out! I would be frustrated too.

Howard, I am so glad DH doesn't read these threads or he would be salivating over you new clubs and bag. :rotfl: Good luck with the round.

Lou, I am interested how ran an insane amount of miles turns out to be.:confused3:thumbsup2

Jodi, hope the training is going well. I think I need to find a plan soon.:rolleyes1 Any relief this week?

Sara, I hope you baby is having fun overseas.:dance3:

Mikey, are you getting ready for you month long vacation? :snooty:

Dave, I need to find your Castaway Cay podcast. Three more weeks for us.:thumbsup2

I will try and get in 3 or 4 miles in the morning.

Greetings & Salutations, Freaks!

Howard - How'd that round of golf go? Hey, while you're in Slackerville, see if you can't get me a place to stay for a while ;).

Jen - Wow, that really sucks about DU. I've had nothing but good luck with them, I would have at least hoped that they would've hooked you up somewhere else after letting you hang for so long. I'd've been super-pissed. I'm happy that things worked out & am envious, one day I'll make it out there for that 1/2...have blast!

Mike - Run over any stray dogs lately? Kick any puppies?

Colleen - I suppose I should start some sort of training plan, too. Huh. Did you get that 4 miler in??popcorn:: How're your knees holding out?

Chester - Thanks for donating to my fund raising page AGAIN . I appreciate you & Tracy picking up the slack since SOME BOTS (mike) can't see their way clear to throwing $5 to a homeless animal.

You, too, Sara, thanks for the double donation!

Lou - How's your fund raising going?? Got a hotel for NYC yet? Are you gonna follow a set training schedule or just wing it?

Dave - Running at all? Back from the Lakes?

Mindy - Have you returned from the deep, scary south, back to civilization yet? So, what did you think of Gracleand?popcorn:::laughing:

Thanks for the inquiries about my feet. I'm happy to say that acupuncture-man (Don't let Marvel get hold of that) cured what ails me. I ran 4 on Thurs. 6 Fri. & 5 today. All pain free b4 & after. I've been trying to run when the sun is out to acclimate myself to the heat, & I actually think it's working!:yay:

Yesterday I went into NYC to schill for my charity. They were @ an event called Broadway Barks & I handed out fliers & such. It was OK, not sure I'll get any donations from it though. One lady gave me $20 which I put directly into the donation jar on the charity's table. Other than that....:confused3. I spent more time on the train to & from than I did there.

Howard - How'd that round of golf go? Hey, while you're in Slackerville, see if you can't get me a place to stay for a while ;).

Jodi~ Actually it went pretty well. I played the first 9 holes by myself since the 7:30 AM group I was supposed to join teed off at 7:15 AM. The starter gave me the option to "catch up to them on the second hole" or go off on the back 9 by myself. I opted for the later. I played well and scored a 41 on the first 9 holes (the back 9). The starter told me he'd fit me into the rotation on the front 9 when I arrived. I checked in and the front was socked in with 4 or 5 foursomes. Not conducive to me joining in. However, there was a twosome going off on the back (the place I just played). I could wait for the front 9 of play ont he back 9. I played the back 9 again and scored a 46. My total for the round was an 87. Not too shabby, but I could have done much better. I had new irons and a new putter to get used to.

Hi everyone, glad to see there is life in good ole Botsville afterall. :woohoo:

Jen~ Sorry about the travel issues you are dealing with. I am glad you have an option.

Colleen~ I hope to get plenty of chances to use the clubs. Perhaps your DH and I (and Crazy Lou) could hit the links sometime?!? They do have a few courses at Disney World. :rolleyes1

I am getting back on the wagon tomorrow with 4 miles. I ran a measly 9 miles in addition to a round of golf and the trip to the gym for XT this week. I have got to step it up a bit. :rolleyes1

Today is my son, Andrew's 16th Birthday! We had a great party with some of his friends over. He gets his learner's permit this Wednesday.

Have a good one!

Howard - Or shoudl we call you Tiger?(tigger). Glad you enjoyed golfing, very nice.

I ran 5 yesterday in the heat, 4 in the cool this a.m. I gotta stop putting all these long miles in, it's killin' me!:rotfl::rolleyes:

Hi everyone! (Jodi - This means you!) Tiger? Tigger? Nah.. :rolleyes1

I thought I'd live up to the "Bots on the Run" title and do some running like Jodi did the last two days. Of course, I did it after work today around 6:15 PM.

Miles: 7.01
Time: 1:02:45
Pace: 8:57
Splits: 9:14, 9:04, 8:50, 8:47, 8:51, 8:55, and 9:00.

I felt pretty good, but had the need to stop in between a couple of the miles to suck wind. :rolleyes1 I am getting better though. I powered through the hills at the beginning and end of my course today.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Mike - Run over any stray dogs lately? Kick any puppies?
Funny you should ask. We actually took the kids to a domestic animal kicking contest over the weekend. After the professionals put on one heck of a display us novices were allowed to give it a go. Bunnies fly a lot farther than expected. Goats, not so much.:confused3

BTW, I'm glad to hear your accu-hippie cured your ills.

Howard - Congrats on the fine round of golf and the 7 miles. Happy BD to Andrew.

Jen - Good to hear that you got your travel plans all ironed out. I'm more than a little envious that you're doing the DL half.

Oh... snap!:rotfl:

BTW, Canada doesn't count, obligatory trip.
So based on that criteria, I guess my trip doesn't count either. Mickey would be extremely put off if we didn't come see him. The last thing anyone of us wants is a corporate symbol giving you the guilt treatment.

ASF, I've been running.

Hi everyone! Everyone? :rolleyes1

I took the night off, I donated double platelets and plasma today at work. I don't think I should be even attempting exercise tonight. I was supposed to "Bike" today. I am glad I got the 7 miles in yesterday.

Have a great evening!

No running for me today, either. Although I don't have anything as noble as donating blood to claim...just pure laziness.

Tomorrow I'm running a 5k in my town @ 6:30 or so. I ran it last year & enjoyed it, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Hi to all the cool people. As for the rest of you? :snooty:

Jodi - Good luck on the 5K. Better you than me!

Howard - I think you have a valid excuse for taking the night off.

I did some trail running tonight at the local battlefield for the first time in a long while. Man, that's a lot more work than tooling around the sidewalks of town.

I saw a bunch of deer. Unfortunately, they all bolted before I could get to them. No matter. They were all bigger than goats so I doubt it would have been very good kicking anyway. :sad2:

No run for me the last two nights. We went to the 7:30 PM showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on Wednesday and yesterday I worked from 8:15 AM to 9:30 PM. Tomorrow my business is holding it's 7th Annual Summer Blood Challenge 5K in Wilmington, DE. Cam is going to run in it. Andrew and I will be volunteering for the event. He is going to dress up as our mascot "Delmar the Blood Hound" for the kid's fun run.

I promised to report on my Bone Density Scan from about two weeks ago. Here is what the Doc sent me in an email:

"Located the scan report. Femur is normal. Spine slightly low (osteopenic). Not quite at the point for treatment. If you would like, we can fax you the report. Call the office tomorrow to authorize that. Otherwise either Steve or I can discuss at your next visit."

Mike - The "penic" reference isn't what you are thinking.

I'll get back on my exercise program very, very soon.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Howard

Mike - The "penic" reference isn't what you are thinking.

Howard - Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to observe a moment of silence for your low penic value.

Cam - Congratulations on above.

Hello folks,

Hope all is well. We are at the final swim meet of the summer this weekend. DD10 qualified to swim 4 events at the State meet, she held her own with her first two swims. Wow, some of these kids are fast and WOW are some of these parents intense. We went into a Barnes and Noble last night, the parents in there were crazy aggressive.:rotfl:

I will try and get a few miles in tomorrow morning on the hotel treadmill.:rolleyes1 Blah.

Congratulations to DD on the great swims!
