~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hi all! Not much going on here today. popcorn::

I took a well needed rest day (after work) yesterday. My legs were a bit tight/sore from the 14+ mile bike ride the night before.

Tomorrow we travel to Charleston, SC for my nieces wedding on Saturday. It will be a family reunion of sorts with my sister, Donna, and her family traveling from Oklahoma and my Mom and sister traveling from Pittsburgh. Jenn is flying up from Orlando also. I al really looking forward to it!

I am not sure if I'll get a chance to run tonight. I need to pack. :rolleyes1

Have a great day, Happy Friday (tomorrow)! and weekend ahead!

Hello bots!

Just checking in real quick to say that you all are going to miss a crazy fun time in Baltimore. After the marathon we will be eating blue crabs and drinking beer like you have never seen before!

Kind of quiet around here. I assume everyone is out enjoying the nice summer weekend.

Got in almost 19 miles yesterday (18.7-Garmin or 18.87 SportsTracks) in 2:45:30. I went to Philly around 7AM and ran all over the city, including up and down the Ben Franklin Bridge. I figure I have to get ready for the bridges in NYC. I ran real well. Only one split was over 9:00mpm and that was going up the bridge.

I lounged around my SiL's pool and jacuzzi all day yesterday with family and friends. I ate and drank anything full of carbs that wasn't bolted down. I feel surprising good today. Not even the least bit of pain.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Lou

Lou~ Great effort with your run. Hearing that you weren't even sore is even better, especially at that pace.

Cam, Andrew and I are back from my neice's wedding in Mount Pleasant, SC, just over the bridge from Charleston. The wedding, and the whole area were very beautiful... an area full of southern charm for sure (and a lot of history). Jenn is safely back in Orlando and ready to work her last three weeks of the Disney College Program before coming home.

I got in no exercise over the weekend unless you count a few dances at the reception. We did a fair amount of walking, but not much overall. I ate my share of good food and drank copius amounts of sweet tea over the weekend. I'll be back at it this week!

Have a great week ahead!

(I'll just go with the flow...)

Hi everyone! I am here to report a short little jaunt this evening. It wasn't easy, but it is in the books.

Miles: 4.0
Time: 37:55
Pace: 9:28
Splits: 8:49, 10:46, 9:28, and 8:51

My second mile was a little longer, I was working through some "shinsplintish" pain. They went away fairly quickly.

Jodi~ How many did you run tonight? Lou? 18 or 20 tonight? Cindy or Matt? Colleen (aka Mrs. NYC)?

Colleen~ Speaking of which, how was Canada? Did you bring us back some of that delicious Canadian Bacon? Some Labatts Blue? Anything?

Have a great evening and a wonderful Tuesday!

Lou - Fine job on the big miles. You're putting in some serious long runs this summer!

Howard - Welcome home. I hope the shin-splintish pain was only a little blip.

:wave::wave: to everyone else!

Greetings Team: Wow, sorry I haven't checked in for so long. I got distracted with my trip to Florida with my Dad for the Kennedy Space Center, and then last week I was playing catch up.

As far as running goes, I've been having trouble with my shins again too, and I can't quite figure out why. I haven't been putting in lots of miles, I have relatively new shoes too. I did a 6 mile "long run" on Saturday, and my left shin was killing me. So I did the whole ice and rest routine afterwards. I bought some new inserts for my shoes, and hopefully those will help.

Lou- I'm totally impressed with your 19 miler.

Howard- Your dedication is amazing.

Mike- I'm sure you've been putting in some good runs too.

I wanted to say boy voyage to Matt and Cindy. I hope you two have a great trip to Japan.

My trip to the Kennedy Space Center with my Dad was great. Here are some pictures for those not on FB that didn't see them.

We were picked up by friends at 7am, and got to KSC around 8:00am. I was able to get press passes for us all. Once we figured out where to go we were placed on a bus for media to be taken to the press briefing with the Apollo astronauts.

The press briefing was held in the new "Apollo treasures" room. We didn't realize we were in this special room at first, and then we noticed all of the artifacts around the room.

The media - that we were a part of. They were from all over the world - Orlando, CNN, ABC, BBC, Canadian Broadcasting Company, France, and Al Jazeera were some of the places that I saw.

The astronauts came in to answer our questions. I was able to ask Buzz Aldrin a question. He was great, looked me right in the eye and gave me a detail long answer. I was impressed.

After the press briefing, it was time for the 40th Anniversary Celebration in the Saturn V center. This was hosted by a special correspondent from CNN - John Zarrella. Oh well, I was busy.

Program lasted for a solid hour, and I thought the time flew by.

After the ceremony, it was time for some souvenir shopping. Gotta get a t-shirt.

Dave - Those are great pictures. I'm sure it was an experience of a lifetime for you and your dad. Thanks for posting them.

Take it easy on those shins.

Thanks Mike. I took a spin around my neighborhood for 3 loops ~3.75 miles with my new shoe inserts. My left shin was a little sore. I did some stretching and ice. I'm not going to push it too much.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Cindy and Matt - good luck with your flight to Japan.

:confused3 Not pretending to have a clue what's going on here except I had to post since Jodi's backed out of Baltimore:rotfl2:. Who IS still running Baltimore - Mindy and Dave? No one laugh at this statement :rolleyes1 but I am committing to a local 1/2 on 10/11 as far as training goes so I won't rule out the Baltimore 1/2 on 10/10. I am registered and it looks like we're moving to our new home mid-August:lmao: so we should be well in and settled. Of course if funds are tight I may have to grab some floor space with Mindy since it's not romantic anyway or I could make the drive and sleep in my car:hippie:

Mike - Since I can't touch base on FB, I hope you, Kathy and the girls are well and making the most of your summer:yay:.

Jen - Happy Anniversary to you and Butch:lovestruc!! Sounds like a great present. Somehow H and I seem to go to a Dallas Cowboys game for our anniversary yearly and your trip sounds much better:laughing:. I've got the Falcons at the Cowboys on 10/25 to look forward to:rolleyes:.

Miss you guys all like crazy :grouphug: and I hope you're all doing well! I am putting up a training program on the fridge today for my yet to be determined 1/2 the weekend of 10/10-11:banana: Getting in the miles is still tough but getting to be more of a possibility:cheer2:.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing. My sister's in Baltimore, and I think she's expecting us to come down. We're going to stop in and see her on Saturday on our way to Williamsburg, VA. So I'll talk to her about it then. If I run Baltimore, I'm only going to do the 1/2. However, now that Jodi backed out, I'm not sure if I'm going. I'm tempted now to go down for the Race for the Taste, and do some more Disney reporting. :confused3

Hi all! Cab will be here shortly to take us to the airport. I'll probably post some updates on fb when I find free wi-fi. In running related news, I registered for the Goofy yesterday because I was afraid it would be sold out by the time we get back.

Hello friends,

Just a quick pop in to say hello.

I see cindy and Matt are overseas, how cool is that!

Hope everyone is well.

Mike, tell Kathy I saw the youtube video on facebook. I could SO see your family doing that.:thumbsup2

Jodi, ran a bit, in perfect weather while I was north.:thumbsup2

Hey Guys!

Thanks for keeping the home fires burning here while I've been away. I have no excuses except that I'm training diligently for NYC :rolleyes1:rolleyes:. No really! teehee...LR of a whole 9 miles on Sat!! woohoo:

Loufah - WOW, 18 miles with no residual effect?? You're already ready to run NYC. You suck. I'm scared. Made sleeping, halloweening arrangements yet? Can I come over your sisters this weekend?

Mike - Glad you're still around, no really, I am. RU running much? Richmond's on your radar still right? If you make it to Boston you KNOW I'll come watch you run . BTW, the ASPCA called me today looking for your address...know anything about that?:sad2: Have you guys left for you Disney sabbatical yet?

Dave - Hey Bud! Glad to see you on here. I LOVE the pix of KSC trip...your little dad is so cute!:cutie: Your a good son for taking him on that trip! Glad you're running here & there. Baltimore, Baltimore, Baltimore...to go or not to go, that is the question! Go to RFtTaste! Mindy will be there, & so will Chester.

Mindy - Bon Voyage!! It's too creepy, you guys bein' so far away. I don't like it. I really WISH you were @ the NYC 1/2 again this year.

Chester - ???popcorn::

Howart - Welcome back from S. Carolina, sounds like you had a blast, despite the soggy peanuts . Rancid!! Now get back to runnin'!

Sara - Go to Baltimore & sleep in your car like a hobo :hippie:.

Colleen - How's Little House On the Canadian Prairie doin' up there? Don't you have to get home soon so you can go on a cruise? You'll be running on the ship, right? Deck 4, baby, 5 a.m.!:yay: Just roll off the bar stool & git 'er done.

This 'effin humidity has GOT to let up soon or I may end up in jail! Running has been going well, relatively pain free - holding that heel/ankle pain @ bay. NYC 1/2 in 2 weeks. Hope all the rest of you with ailments feel better :grouphug:.

Still missing our fall event & all you freaks....:sad1:

Colleen- I'm not sure what video you are talking about but I'll let Kathy know. If you could imagine our family doing it I'm guessing it must be something about kids fighting with frustrated parents looking down the street longingly, hoping the school bus comes 6 weeks early??

Mike - Glad you're still around, no really, I am. RU running much? Richmond's on your radar still right? If you make it to Boston you KNOW I'll come watch you run . BTW, the ASPCA called me today looking for your address...know anything about that?:sad2: Have you guys left for you Disney sabbatical yet?
1. Running - Yes
2. Richmond -Yes
3. ASPCA - Maybe
4. Disney - No

Happy to hear you are relatively pain free.

Mattand Cindy- Have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Sara- It's great to hear from you again!
