~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I just packed up all of my stuff to go home and then it started POURING - like the kind of rain where an umbrella does no good, but also the kind of rain that doesn't last too long - so I figured I'd pop in here to say hi while I wait it out a bit. :wave2:

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

As a pharmacist, I'm sure you're familiar with animal testing, etc.
Yes, I am vaguely aware. I seem to recall the testing showed that dogs are more proficient in math than social studies but I may have my facts wrong. One fact I'm not wrong about is all dogs tested were in favor of me drinking $10 beers.:thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone: It was pouring down rain here yesterday, so I ran 3 miles on the treadmill in the gym. Not too much else going on here. We're off to visit my wife's grandmother today in Ithaca, NY. She's 101. She diecided on her last birthday (this past May 11) that she was going to stop taking her medicines. She's made the decision that she's lived a full life, and does not need to prolong things. So we're going to make sure we get at least one more chance to see this amazing lady.

Cheap basht! I should have known. Come on, make a donation in memory of Winston....It's the least you could do!

:thumbsup2 She sounds like my kind of lady! Have a great visit.

Good Morning Everyone: I'm waking up and fueling up for my long run this morning. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July.

Happy 4th Everyone!

I am going to run 10 miles!! It's been a very long time since I've done that.

Now I really have to do it since I posted it here. (I know its kind of late, but we got home late last night).

Happy 4th my friends!

Cindy and Dave good luck with your runs!

Mike and Jodi...:rotfl:...popcorn::

Mike-you suck.

Aw Jodi, you didn't really leave Mike with anything to work with with that comeback except, well, things that probably can't be posted here.

10 super sweaty miles done (and not too bad).

This is embarassing to admit, but the last time I ran farther than 8.5 miles on my own (as in not as part of the 2 halfs I did in May) was April 19th:eek: I knew it had been awhile, but I didn't realize it had been that long. And I have no real excuse other than laziness:guilty:

Hi Everyone: I got my 12 miler in. It was a lot cooler and windier out there than I thought it would be. I took it really slow and easy, and felt great the whole time. Have a good 4th of July everyone.

Jodi - If by "You suck" you mean "Your a kind and gentle soul, always supportive of others and a joy to be around.", thank you. You suck too.

Dave - Great job on the 12 miles. I'm glad you enjoyed the run.

Cindy - Way to break out of the slothness. You're back!

No running for me to report today but we did get to enjoy the local fireworks show before I had to come to work. Nice night.

How heartwarming!

Pretty low key weekend for my family. Went on a little 2.5 mile hike yesterday with the kids. They can easily keep up with us now, they are 12 and 10, I am sure next year, they will be leading the way and DH and I will be following behind yelling, "wait for us".:rolleyes1

DS12 joined me on my 4 miler this morning. He did well, we walked .25 of a mile and then ran 0.75 repeat for 4 miles. We finished in about 47 minutes.:thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.:dance3:

I hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July! It's looks like you did based on FB posts.

Pretty awesome weekend for my family. SiL took a 3 day vacation and left the pool for us to take care of. We spent just about every waking moment in the pool/jacuzzi.

Went to Philly on Sat morning and decided to run 18 miles for no apparent reason. The Welcome America festivities were being set up as I ran 2 loops around the river. It actually felt pretty good. My Garmin busted before I ran (battery dead). Decided to run using the iPhone to time and map my run. I bought a new Garmin that should hopefully arrive tomorrow.

That's all bots!

Lou

Hello to all in Botville and the neighboring Slackersville!. :rolleyes1

I returned from Disney with a crispy type sunburn, hours and hours of sleep to catch up on and a feeling that it went all too quickly. Pretty much par for the course. :headache: It was great spending time with Jen and going to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday. We were there for the Fireworks which were amazing. The park was so crowded that they shut down Main Street to all pedestrian traffic and sent everyone backstage near the Buzz Lightyear ride and out near Exposition Hall near the front of the park (the other end of Main Street). They had cones set up and CM's herding people all over back there. They even had consessions set up and allowed people to lay blankets (backstage) to watch fireworks. The view must have been nice looking out over the Ryder Trucks parked up next to the backs of the buildings along Main Street.:headache::rolleyes1 We thought that Walt Disney must be turning over in his grave. We walked through, then up Main Street and cut in under the ropes and weaved our way through the crowd to get a good view of the fireworks. The mass of bodies, noise, heat, etc. was more than I wanted to take in. However, we endured. We left during a mass exodus after the 12 to 15 minute fireworks (around 9:20 PM) despite the park being open to 1 AM that night. We managed to get to the TTC via monorail and to our car in Daisy 28 in 45 minutes. Not too bad considering.

I took running clothes, but did not have the time or energy to run in the almost blistering heat and humidity. However, I ran tonight 4 miles according to my training plan.

Miles: 4.0
Time: 36:14
Pace: 9:03
Splits: 9:14, 9:26, 9:08 and 8:31

Tomorrow I will do some XT at the gym. I can't wait!

I am glad everyone had a great long weekend. It's good to be back in town and in touch.

Lou~ 18 miles! :headache: :worship:

Me a thread killer? :confused3 I don't think so. Maybe it was that reference to Slackersville?:rolleyes1

I went to the gym to Crosstrain tonight. I easily get bored there, I need to work on that. I worked out on the elliptical crosstrainer for 3 miles in about 25:24 and did my usual free weight circuit (around 15-20 min).

Tomorrow, back to running.

I had a precautionary bone density scan this morning. My Family Doctor ordered it a while back since I had fractured my foot. He wants to rule out any osteoporosis. I think the test will come back clean. :thumbsup2 I think the results are due to him within three days. I'll let you all know if anything shows up.

Have a great night. I hope the lack of posting means that you are all out running 18 miles like Lou.

Howie - Although your potential as a thread-killer is very real, I think when Mr. I-Ran-18-miles just because dropped that little turd, no one else had anything to post. I mean, how do you top that????

Glad you had fun in WDW. Loved the pix Cam (hi Cam  0) post on FB!

Colleen - Glad you were able to leave the house over the holiday weekend :rolleyes1...:rotfl2:

I got stuck w/ needles today, we'll give it a day & see if it helps my feet/ankles/shins. Ran 2 slow w/ Sparky yesterday a.m. & 3 in the 80 degree afternoon. It was slow, but not too terrible. Trying to gear up for NYC in August :scared1:.

Jodi~ It looks like its me and you kid. popcorn:: 18 miles for no particular reason is very hard to beat. I won't be trying that one for a while. :sad2:

I ran some tonight:

Miles: 5.0
Time: 47:44
Pace: 9:33
Splits: 9:39, 10:14, 9:24, 9:13 and 9:13

This running stuff isn't easy.

Have a most excellent evening! Hi to all my BOT friends in BOTVILLE.
