~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

When I was a medic I used to pick up homeless guys on the park bench drinking rubbing alcohol...and mouth wash!
I guess that's one alternative to single's bars! What was your best pick up line? Give the bum a can of Sterno and say "Come on baby, light my fire."?

I know I've asked a million times, but what is up next for you & Kathy?? Is it Richmond, or is something before that? Any local 5ks coming up?
I'm pretty sure that the only thing we've got going before Richmond will be the Towpath half in Ohio the same weekend as Baltimore.

And what's the deal with the worm story? Are you just asking to be laughed at?

CindyLou - Congrats on the 5 K's and good luck on the Tri. Do you have a special tricked out bike and all kinds of fancy equipment?

Cindy - I actually did notice the zoo in Philly!

Dave - I hope you can straighten things around for your dad. That's got to be tough.

Lou - Did you see Chester's missing link statue at the Natural History Museum?

I got 6.5 miles in this AM. Big fun!

Howard - Welcome back from Denver....beautiful city, huh? Weird how the air makes that much of a difference, I'd like to experience that. I think it's great that you were able to get those runs in out there...way to be dedicated. Glad you followed my example :rolleyes1.

Each time I see this I get off my bike, pick up the worm & throw it into a shaded grass area. I do this when it rains, too & they're all over the sidewalk, drowning. It really slows down the walks & Spencer thinks I'm mental...So whad'ya guys think?

Also, I must admit that I've been a bit melancholy about the BOT situation. No fall marathon, etc. Can we PLEASE get something sorted out for next year? Fall or Spring? Soon? I miss that PhillyPheel :guilty:.

Jodi~ I think you are a softie at heart, puppy charities, saving worms so that one day they can become Blackbird fodder... you are my hero. :lovestruc I am missing the PhillyPheel too.. what a GREAT bunch of people all located at the same place for the same reason. BOTS RULE! :thumbsup2

My son, Andrew, and I went out this evening for my cross-training bike ride. We covered just over 16 miles (yes 16!) in about 1.5 hours. I am beat, what a different workout than running. We traveled to Bellevue Park and made a lap of the track the Matt ran the other day and managed to do a good portion of the Northern Delaware Greenway while we were at it.

Tomorrow is a measly 3 miles. I should be able to handle them pretty well. Lou, I am in no way as in shape as you. My goal is to get there sometime in the not too distant future though.

Dave~ I am sorry your Dad is in rough financial shape. Best of luck helping him out. I know it must be tough.

Lou~ Just pay the toll and wait to slug your way through. Even the locals have to do it. I deal with that every Friday heading home for work. It's all those people traveling up I-95 towards NJ and NYC.

Have a great night!

Jodi - You are such a darling.

Mike -- OMG! Your sterno line made me spit water at my monitor and it came out of my nose. :lmao:

I love that you guys are encouraging me to run again. However, since I have this theory that i'd be so much faster (and my knees wouldn't hate me so much) if I could just lose another 30-40 pounds (LOL!), I've been letting the WiiActive totally kick my butt every night, to the point that I have no energy left for "real" running. The good thing is that my workouts all include some running and some back kickups and some high steps, all of which should in theory, strengthen my quads and hamstrings and improve my running. I am also working with a PT 1/2 hour a week and he totally wiped me out this morning. How in the world can I exceed expectations on the leg press by 150% but nearly die doing lunges? I just can't figure it out. I am convinced that that which tries but does not kill me (lunges) will make me (and my running) stronger. Wish me luck on that. Since the scale isn't moving (which sucks!), there has to be SOME reward for the aforesaid butt kicking (10 workout sessions in the past week -- )

Uh-huh....didn't see that one coming! I'll tell you what, I'll let that one go if you donate $5 to my fundraising page, OK?

Was this before you met Bruce? Weren't there any local bars or singles clubs where you could pick up guys at instead? ;):lmao:

My evening's activities:

Miles: 3.0
Time: 28:39
Pace: 9:32
Splits: 9:57, 9:40 and 9:00

Cam, Andrew and I are off for Walt Disney World tomorrow evening for the weekend (to visit with Jenn, meet friends, see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Tigger, etc.), we'll be back Sunday night. I probably won't have an opportunity to post while we are away. Have a safe and enjoyable July 4th weekend!

Have a great evening!

Refresh my memory. Is this the charity that subsidizes taxidermy of pets or the one that pays for overseas shipping of pets to the Kung Pao factory?

Uh, OK, I think we've played this one out already, originality is the foundation of insult. And the rest of your post? Looking MIGHT familiar....:rolleyes1. So does this mean you're homogenizing yourself? Sames posts here & on Facebook?? :surfweb:

As a pharmacist, I'm sure you're familiar with animal testing, etc. Even more reason for you to donate $5!! That's like, what, half the cost of an Optimator? You'll be OK if you drink one less in August.;) - one less kid for Kathy to have to drag around.

Jodi~ Sometimes its all I can do to make it to both places (BOTville and Faceville) to post before operation shut-eye begins to automatically take over.

I am grateful I can share both places so that Mike/Optimator knows what is going on with my training and life in general. I know he's interested and logs in daily to get my updates as I do his. :rolleyes1

I WISH all of my dear friends here, yes - even you Jodi  :lovestruc, a very Happy, Safe and Relaxing holiday weekend.

Be well.

Wow, I'm sorry I missed Pick on Jodi Day.

Mike - $5 for charity or $10 towards beer...that is a tough choice. Maybe we can find a charity that supports having a few beers to alleviate stress.

Work/business is killing me the past 2 weeks. I had to meet with someone from the NJ Dept of Transportation this morning and it killed my morning run. I learned that the bad news is the infrastructure in this country is in shambles and probably won't get any better before we die. The good news is that the government will spend billions trying to fix it and it's a great time to own an engineering business that deals with it. Hopefully all these potholes and broken pipes can pay for my running addiction.

I think I'll go run 6+ miles in the sweltering heat now....seriously.

Lou
