~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

And now for a bit of silliness, just because... :teeth: The mixer starts here.

This week's mixer theme is "Superpowers That Would Be More Trouble Than They're Worth," and your question:

What would be the superpower you would end up being granted?

Some examples:
  • The ability to tell the future, but only one minute ahead of time.
  • Super-strength, but only in your thumbs.
  • The ability to read the minds of people whose language you don't understand.
  • The ability to see through one layer of clothes.
  • Super breath, strong enough to knock down your opponents. Unfortunately, it's because you're smells like garlic and you always have that power.

Of course, your superpower is unique to you. So feel free to tell us what you would do with your power or why you got so lucky as to be given it. :rolleyes1 Bonus points--again, they're worth nothing--for telling us what superpowers you think other WISHers might get. (Keep it DIS-friendly, though, folks!)

Mike - I'm on FB now:confused3
ARRGH!! I was counting on you to hold out with me. I guess now I'm an island of stubborness. I suppose I'll have to find new friends once you all finally complete the migration from here to FB.:sad1:

How'd the LR go?

Cindy - What is this half in Arlington of which you speak?

Lou - Cindy mentioned a PR? Congrats.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!

Mike - I can't imagine doing 50 running downhill. Nice job with the hilly 12.75. Congrats on your Canadian citizenship.

Sara - Good to see you on FB. Mike, your the last one. Hope you enjoyed your LR.

Cindy - Good job getting back on track with running. Love the pics along the Mall with all of the flowers. I really need to schedule a trip to DC next spring to see the flowers.

Debra - Thanks!

PENN RELAYS 20K RACE REPORT

Great day for a race. Besides the whole b-day thing it was 50-55 degrees and partly sunny at the start. Hung out on the track inside Franklin Field for about 20 minutes before the start. I love this stadium.

My time last year was 1:37:05 and I really didn't expect to beat it because I haven't trained much lately. However, the race went well.

I made the mistake of getting to the start area early and ended up standing on the start line before the race started. When the gun went off I think I may have had the lead for 10 yards and then I watched 2-3 runners just blow by me like I was running backwards. It's amazing watching these guys run. Their legs were like emus. At around 0.5 miles the women's winner, Cecily Tynan, blew by me. She is a local weatherwoman on ABC. She's also in great shape.

I was literally gasping for air the first 0.5 miles because of running WAY too fast. I downshifted from a 6:15-6:30 pace to a 8-9 mpm pace for a while because I honestly felt like I would pass out. After I slowed down a while I got my wind back and ran a consistent 7:30-8mpm pace for the rest of the race. The course was beautiful. You run along the west side of the Schuylkill River (we ran here for the marathon) from the Art Museum to the Falls Bridge. It was literally raining flowers.

After you get to the bridge you basically turn around and run back to Franklin Field. There were only 187 runners so I didn't pass or get passed by many runners for the last 4-5 miles. As I entered Franklin Field I could see Nicole and the kids at the finish line. There was barely anyone else there so it was easy to spot them. They video taped my lap around the track which was cool. Finished in 1:36:07 (61st place out of 187) for a PR. Not bad.

Went to the Famous 4th St Deli with the family after the race. Ironically we sat next to someone famous, the mom from Somebody Loves Raymond. Don't know her name but she was easy to recognize.

Went home, showered, and went back to Philly to see the Flyers crush the Pens 6-3 (sorry Dave and Howard). Also got to walk past the Harry Kalas fan memorial at the Mike Schmidt statue. Very sad. Lots of hats, posters, beer cans, cigarettes, and flowers. Philly fans are the odd but the best.

How'd the LR go?
Well my friend, I'm single now so I have to broaden my horizons:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::rolleyes1 The LR got done even though I have THE FUNNIEST story ever:laughing:. I'm about 1/2 way through my 14 miles and I'm crossing at a crosswalk on a busy road full of cars stopped at a red light. Took a huge header and smacked my head on the pavement:dance3: Luckily there was a gas station nearby and I cleaned up over there. My palms are scraped up pretty good, as is my pride:laughing: As for FB, I am truly clueless over there and promise not to migrate from here:grouphug:

Lou - :worship::worship::worship: WTG!!

Cindy - Way to get your runs in:yay:

I'm buried with work today so that's it for now. Have a great week:thumbsup2

I can't imagine doing 50 running downhill.
And for every downhill you are rewarded with a couple hundred foot climb at about a 60% grade to get back to the top! Yikes.

Nice job again on your PR.

Sara - Your idea of "THE FUNNIEST story ever" and mine are just a little different! Getting road rash on my head... not so funny. Now, seeing someone else do it... maybe. I hope you are O.K.

Yikes, glad you're OK Sara!

Hey guys! Was anyone else able to watch the marathon on-line today? It was really exciting...for a while there I thought the US was gonna have a winner. BTW, why isn't something like this televised?? Man, running really is the red-headed step-child of sports!:sad2:

Lou - WOW! What a day!! A birthday, PR, family-waiting-at-the-finish-line & celebrity sighting all in a 24 hour period??? Doesn't get much better than that! I'm so happy that you had a good day, those are great memories. So, are you starting to see things MY way? Less training = better times?:rolleyes1

Mike - That ultra near your house sounds heinous!! So, you'll be signing up next year?popcorn:: I'm definitely doing a 50-miler in 2010 :woohoo:, care to join me? So Richmond is the BQer, eh? But I mean, you'd take it if it happened in Nashville :rotfl:...I'm betting it will!! Congrats on your new hoser-status!! Those Canadians'll let anyone join the team  Did you tell them you don't play hockey??

Sara - I don't know what the rest of these guys are talking about, but I think your face-plant is one of the funnier stories here in a long time :thumbsup2:rotfl2: I mean, as long as you're not hurt & all.

Colleen - How'd your sis & b-i-l do today???popcorn:::yay:

Cindy - Love the pictures on FB! That school field trip is coming up in the first full week of May...UGH! Dreading it! My son's not convinced yet that i can contain my thoughts to myself & that I'll embarrass the crap out of him :rolleyes1. I'm not so sure he's wrong. We're staying in McClean :confused3 @ some flea-bag hotel & taking the metro into DC each day. I'm thinking we'll need @ least $20-$25 for that alone per person, right?

Dave - All ready for the MuddyButty?

Chester - What about you?? Who will you be competing with this year??

I ran 4 yesterday, nuthin today. Mike, the name of that local marathon I've decided to bag on is called Race Of Champions Marathon in W. Springfield, MA. Only about an hour & a half from me, but...I don't know, I think I might injure myself if I try to run that far right now :confused3. I've still got a week to decide...mentally, I don't think I'm prepared (but then again, that's true about pretty much every aspect of my life).;)

Sara - Since you are laughing about it, I'll assume you are ok.

Jodi - Where in Mclean? Tysons Corner? Here is the link for Metro.

http://www.wmata.com/

It's actually useful. What station will you be going to? West Falls Church? If you are traveling from there to downtown during rush hour, its going to run you close to $3.50 each way.

Sara - I don't know what the rest of these guys are talking about, but I think your face-plant is one of the funnier stories here in a long time :thumbsup2:rotfl2: I mean, as long as you're not hurt & all.
Maybe I think it's so funny because I have a concussion or something:laughing::confused: I basically landed on my side and my knee (bad one) hip and the side of my head, as well as my hands hit the ground:scared:. I'm starting to feel not so good now so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Mike - No road rash on the face or it wouldn't be a laughing matter;)

Colleen - Waiting to hear how your sis did todaypopcorn::

No running today due to a bunch of LTO things. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel up to it and the weather will cooperate:yay:. I really wish I was going to CMM this weekend:sad1:

Good Morning Everyone: I got 3 miles on the TM yesterday. Man, it was a cold and rainy day here yesterday. Kids are off of school this week for spring break. So I'm juggling watching the girls with working. One of these years we'll actually go away or something for this break.

Good Morning Cindy, where's Matt?

Howard- best of luck with your MRI today. Will you get the results right away, or do you have to have another appointment to get those?

Sara- I hope you're feeling OK. And good luck with all the LTO stuff. Wishing you well.

Lou- Another Pens/Flyers game tonight?

Colleen- I'm curious how your sister did in Boston too.

Jodi- I was following the Boston Marathon on the internet, and then I turned the video feed on during lunch. My girls and I watched the end of the men's race together. Then I saw the highlights of the women's race. Wow, that was a race. The winning margin for the marathon only 1 second? Three women sprinting down to the finish line? Wow, great race. Nice showing for both Kara and Ryan. Yeah, I'm ready for the Muddy Buddy. I've watched the video and the race looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait. It will be a fun week for me. I have the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on Sunday, May 3rd, and then the Muddy Buddy on Saturday, May 9th. Wooo hooo! :cool1: When's the race of champions you're thinking of running?

So Mike, you're running CMM right?

Hello Jen, Debra and Chester :wave2:

So for you DIS Unplugged listeners out there, I have an interview lined up for today that I am VERY excited about. :thumbsup2

Colleen - How'd your sis & b-i-l do today???popcorn:::yay:

They ran together and ran a 3:59. :) I am sure she will be overjoyed with that result. She said she only had 2 long runs since Phoenix, which was in January, and she was predicting a 4:15. Yet another example of sometimes, less is more...

Thanks for asking everyone.:grouphug:

Which reminds me, Mike, it is time to make hotel reservations for Boston 2010.:banana:

Colleen - Congrats to your sister - that's great! Did she enjoy the experience of running Boston?

Dave - Matt's around. I guess he'd just rather ask me how all the Bots are doing than actually come to the thread himself.

Howard - I know you have your MRI this morning - thinking of you.

Cindy & Dave~ Thanks, the MRI went fine. I have the films in my possession. I called to schedule with my Podiatrist and the earliest (convenient) appointment is next Tuesday morning. So, unless they call me with a cancelation I have to wait another whole week. Grrr. :sad2: I might get desperate and actually schedule this for an inconvenient time and miss some work to get some answers.

Sara~ I hope you are feeling better!

Mike~ I hope you are taking care of your "Hood Ornament"!:lmao:

Colleen~ That time in Boston is awesome! Congrats to sis & BIL!!!:thumbsup2

Happy Tuesday!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - Dude! Miss some work & find out what's going on with that tootsie! The suspense is killing me!:confused3 You've gotta get better soon so you can run in May!

Cindy - Thanks for the metromap...i checked it out & yeah, we're out near Tyson's Chicken, Corner....whatever . I can't wait to share a room with someone who I don't even know :yay:! Maybe we can set up a location to meet when we're sightseeing, pretend you're Secret Service, & haul me off for questioning...aka a BIG beer!:lmao: I'm sure I'll need it. Will you & Matt try to get into NYC 1/2 this year?

Anyone else going to sign up for NYC 1/2?:yay::banana::rolleyes1

Colleen - That's so great! Congrats to your sis & bil! Tell them the freaks you know on the computer said "Good Job"!:dance3: RU working? running? yoga-ing?

Sara - Does your face hurt?.......'Cause it's killin' me!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously, how do you feel?

Dave - Desperately waiting for your DISunplugged interview popcorn::...what gives???? The marathon that I'm NOT running is on May 3! WISH I could be there to cheer you on for the Muddy-thing. Signing up for Baltimore anytime soon?

Hey man, I ran 8 miles today :confused3 & it felt great :confused3:confused3:confused:!
