~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Here's my update:

No ear infection and still shooting live ammo.

Cindy - Hope you feel better soon. That sorry husband of yours better be taking good care of you.

Dave - Enjoy the mandated time off from running. Sorry about the other restrictions though.

Sara - Here's hoping the weather cooperates with you Sunday. What exactly is involved in an NCV?

Howard - Good luck with the run.

Wow! Poor Colleen is really taking Jodi's absence hard. Either that or she stowed away in one of Jodi's bags and is sitting poolside, sipping mai tais all week long!

 TMI:lmao:

Yes, I am excited knowing Jodi will be coming home today.

I have discovered Facebook. It is really cool, I had a facebook page, but I needed to take the time to look things over, add a few pics and add my list of friends who have requested "friendship" over the last 9 months.

So, who wants an invitation to join facebook? I am already friends with Lou, Cindy, Cam and Howard.

Good Morning BOTVILLE!

I was up at 6 AM (very unlike me on a Saturday) and running with Cam and Patti by 6:30 AM. I ran two laps around the "water feature" at the Brandywine Town Center, walked one, ran another and walked the last. Total mileage was approximately 2.35 miles. Of the laps/miles I ran, I figured they were at about a 10:30 Pace. My Garmin wasn't charged for some reason and it died on the first lap. Fortunately, there was a hot running momma coming around that I could hit up for clock times.

I am happy to say that there is (at this point) no foot pain, I didn't feel it during the "run" at all. I am going to ice it tonight (or earlier if it acts up). This is a favorable outcome to a morning I was hoping for for weeks and dreading for days.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dave~ I saw the weather up your way on the news this morning. I hope you are hunkered down and staying warm and safe inside.

Colleen~ Hope you are enjoying your day!

Jodi~ Welcome back! Please post some photos. Just keep Bruce's thighs off of here. I don't want any drool damaging any Bot-Ladies keyboards. :lmao:

Cindy~ I hope you feel better really, really soon! :flower3: :wizard: :goodvibes Tell Matt he better be taking good care of you or Mike and I will come over there and give him some trouble (if you know what I mean).

:grouphug:

Howard

Good Evening Bots!!:grouphug: I'm back in one piece!! And quite a LARGE piece, at that! I almost had to buy another seat for myself for the plane ride back, holy crap!:lmao: :lmao: I ate waaaaay too much stuff that should never have even been considered for consumption...stuff I couldn't even pronounce; stuff that had more than 16 ingredients in it; stuff that would still look & taste the same if you left it out in the sun for a week or 2; and I'm pretty sure that none of it was organic!!

We got in around 5 tonight & I am SO friggin' beat! I'll post more tomorrow, but just couldn't resist popping in to say "hey".

Jodi!!!! - Welcome back! I'm thrilled to hear you got your money's worth in the overconsumption area.

So now I have to do the Facebook thing to be friends with you? I'm a one-stop-shopping kind of guy. I hate to think I have to check yet another site to make sure I'm not missing something. I'm happy just to manage keeping up with everyone here.

Howard
- Great news about the footsie. Nice and easy.

Cindy - How ya feeling?

I took my step-back week a bit too seriously this week. I ended up missing one of my scheduled 7 milers but did manage getting out this evening.

Take care everyone.

Mike, it is not the same as here. I like it because I can quickly comment on people's pages which only takes a few seconds...I can get through everyone's goings-on in a few minutes ...which it seems like all I have time for right now.:confused3

I like it because you can get caught up with everyone in a few minutes, but best of all, you can see pictures. I posted some marathon pics, swimming and some vacation pics on my page.

Oh, and by the way, everyone is on facebook.:snooty: You will find your way eventually.

I agree with you Colleen. Disboards are great but limited when it comes to sharing pics and communicating with friends. I got dragged into FB a couple of years ago by some business associates and now the site has grown like a weed. Almost everyone I know is on it. I'm actually meeting more WISHers on FB then on the Dis. The down side is that FB can be addicting.

That being said I am still going to hang out here.

However, I see a DisBot group on FB in the near future.

Lousy weekend for running. Spent all day yesterday at a chess tournament for DS and cheerleading competition for DD. Today is cold and rainy. I may try to get out later this afternoon but I am prepared to bag this weekend and try to make up the miles next week.

Lou

OK, I'm caught up with the BotBoards & some funky crap has been going on since I left!:confused3

Near as I can tell, here's the deal;

Dave should have been in charge of props in that fateful, and last, Brandon Lee film; Mike, however, has announced that he's still "lethal"; Sara has moved to Timbuktu & will be paying someone money to move her treadmill this time 'round; Cindy has assumed the fetal position, has bi-lateral ear infection, mastered MarioKart & is clearly regressing; Howard is running with strange women without pain; Colleen is bagging the boards for Facebook & has abandoned the notion of running; Lou is searching for Bobby Fischer; Chester's status quo & MIA; Jen thinks 10 miles = no motivation; and everyone is spending waaaay too much time watching reality television!!!

And I LOVE the fact that no one has been running "enough"!:yay: :rotfl:

What'd I miss?

Jodi,

NOw that you are home.

1. How was the cabin?

2. How was the food?

3. Does the ship seem old and worn?

:stitch2: Monday Mixers w/ Team 'Ohana :stitch2:

I thought I'd let the Bots know that Team 'Ohana is inviting their WISH family to come visit its thread on Mondays. We thought this would be a good way for people on the teams/threads to get to know other WISHers better. Plus, 'Ohana like to think we know how to throw a party and we always like new guests! The drinks are free, if virtual, and no one will tell you when you've had enough. :upsidedow

I'll post a reminder on Monday, with a loose question/discussion topic to get the conversations going. There's no need to stick to the topic, of course, as it's really your sparking, non-alcoholic but still intoxicating presence that is requested. So, if you have a little time for socializing with your cousins, please stop by 'Ohana on Monday! :goodvibes

We invite you to visit Team 'Ohana for the Monday Mixer! Stop by anytime today (or anytime, really) and say hi. The mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread.

Our loose topic for 'Ohana's first Monday Mixer is "What song made you laugh out loud the last time you heard it?"

Of course, you don't need to stick with that prompt. You can talk about the last thing that made you laugh out loud, period. Or the Oscars, Nascar, Pixar. Or the meaning of life, the universe and everything. (Although we over at 'Ohana already know the answer is 42. You'll learn to love our geekdom. :rolleyes1)

DKP, the mixer is a great idea, and I'll have to go over and check it out.

Hey everyone: OK, I'm dragging today. Last week was Feb break week, and the girls were off school all week. It was a crazy, weird, week. DD8 pooh: was sick at the beginning of the week, car broke down on Monday, DD11 princess: sick on Wednesday, and my "procedure" on Thursday. We drove to Erie, PA on Saturday to see Disney on Ice. Yes, Cindy, the same Disney on Ice show I saw in DC. On the drive to Erie, I get hit with the flu bug. I get sicker and sicker as we drive, and I spent the Disney on Ice show running to the bathroom. After the show, we drove down to my in-laws. I felt better yesterday, but I'm still under the weather today.

Howard- I'm so glad you had a pain free run.

Jodi- I can't wait to hear more details on your cruise, and I want to see some pictures.

Cindy- How are your ears?

Hey, Howdy, Hey to everyone else!

Hey Bot Squad!

Dave
I hope the recovery is going well. No activity for week is no big thing. I regularly have to wait 4 weeks before I'm allowed to move the treadmill.

Sara
And speaking of treadmills.....

Howard
How's the foot doing after the run?

Mike
Better that than an ammo infection and a shooting ear.

Colleen
See you on facebook. Well, maybe not much, I'm finding it tough to keep up with my other "boards".

Jodi
Did you see me when I waved? Welcome back.

Lou
You coming down to Clearwater for a spring training game? My office is about a mile from the Pirates field.

Jen and Butch
Hope your Princess training is going well. Look for me along the course. I plan on cheering at a couple of locations and the finish.

Cindy
Is everything back to normal yet? Can you hear me now?

I've been getting about 4 out of my 5 weekly runs in. I usually miss one of the weekday runs.

Had a nice little 15 mile cruise on Sunday. The giraffes were out for the first time this year. Did some trail running for the middle third of the run. 17 miles is scheduled for this Sunday and 18 for next.

Run happy,

Chester

Jen – Did you decide where you are staying for Princess weekend?

Dave – Sorry to hear about the flu bug. Dealing with that when you are away from home really has to suck.

Sara – I hope you get some answers from the NCV.

Howard – I’m happy to hear that you ran pain free!

Jodi – Glad to hear that you had a good time (or at least ate a lot)!

Mike – I have to agree with Colleen and Lou. I was really resistant to joining facebook in the beginning, but a friend of mine who moved to Japan convinced me to join so I could see his pictures from all of his travels. It is amazing how many old friends I have found. And you don’t have to really check it all the time. I’ve gone through phases of not getting on there for weeks at a time to checking it multiple times a day (I’m currently in the multiple times a day phase).

The giraffes were out for the first time this year.
??

Update on me – my ears are feeling better – I’m certainly not in the extreme pain that I was in on Friday and Saturday – but I’m still not feeling great. There is a ton of pressure in my ears still. I’m trying to decide if I should go back to the doctors. I haven’t really slept in days because the pain and pressure is much worse when I am laying down. But Matt did take good care of me over the weekend.

I did, however, manage to run 8 miles yesterday!

OK, guys, I'll try to be brief with my trip report

Thurs. 12 - Flew into Tampa, drove down to mom's in Sarasota. Stopped by Chester's house on the way - around dinner time, but no one answered the door :confused3 ;)
Friday 13 - drove around the area w/ mom, step-dad & family, went to some local beaches/trolled for sand dollars - great day.
Sat. - Drove up to Port Canaveral & got on cruise...commenced feeding frenzy!:rotfl:

The first 2 days were @ sea & were beautfiul - at least 75 degrees & sun, sun, sun. At our first nights dinner we discovered our table mates were a DISer family from a thread here that I've been on for a while over on the "cruise" board. What a cowinky-dink! Very nice people (we felt bad they were stuck with us!:scared1: )

On Tues. we arrived @ St. Martin (Maarten, whatever). No excursion so we just walked to town. It was really neat, but i was quite upset @ the number of homeless dogs wandering the streets. One almost got hit by a bus right in front of us, until yours truly jumped out in the street first. I figured he'd see me if he didn't see the dog :rolleyes1 . With so much walking we got real hot & pulled up a beach & went swimming. Great day (or 1/2 day, anyway)

On Weds. it was St. Thomas where we booked a snorkeling excursion. We got to swim w/ giant sea turtles & see a ship wreck - I actually got seasick IN the water, that's how choppy it was. Very windy day, but warm.

Weds. night was hideous on the ship...rockin' rollin', moving around like crazy! Both Bruce & I were lightheaded & nauseated. They were handing out barf bags @ the show that night. We turned in early (hurling smilie here) - no actualy hurling, but it was heinous!

More of the same motion on Thurs., but we'd gotten a bit used to it by then. Great day @ sea, warm.

Friday - we almost didn't get into Castaway Cay b/c of the winds & current & such. The Capt. gave it a few trys & was able to make it, however, all excursions, except jet ski & snorkeling, were canceled. Sort of a windy day, but warm. I ran in a 5k that met in the a.m. right after we docked which was a blast. That night they delivered a certificate to our room stating that I'd ran in the Castaway Cay 5k, blah, blah, blah. Great souvenir, but they spelled me like this: JODY. Oh well, people right here on this thread have done that so I guess I can't begrudged actual strangers for the mistake :rolleyes1 ! I also managed to run 3 other times on the ship on deck 4; just 30 minute jaunts, so that SHOULD be about 3 miles each time, but at this point in my running hiatus, who knows?

Colleen: Our Cat.11, inside stateroom was a tomb, but it's all we've sailed in, so ignorance is bliss.
The food was good to very good. I mean, we're not talking gourmet meals, here, but definitely a higher-end, mass-food quality.
The Magic is showing some signs of wearing down, but it was impeccable. I mean, honestly, our stateroom was incredibly clean, as were all public areas. The reason why I say it was worn a bit is you could see certain carpets in the main hallways stained & perhaps caulking in the tubs getting ready for a re-do. But all in all, there was nothing to complain about, although people did, I'm sure!

We had a terrific time, but then again, we're not that hard to please.:dance3:

Jodi: Thanks for the trip report. It sounds like a great time (minus the sea sick part). We have to look into another Disney cruise it's been close to 7 years since our first and only cruise and I think its time to go again. DD is pretty psyched about the idea of a hotel that floats... do they run the 5k each time the boat docks at Castaway Cay-- how does that work?

Cindy: I hope you continue to feel better. Ear infections really do suck  I'm impressed you were able to get in 8 miles while feeling sick.

Chester: We'll be looking for you on the course. Will you be at the meet the night before?

We did finally book a room at Pop Century, we are true Disney snobs and decided we really did want to stay on property even though the room is a bit more pricey for less than we would get off property but... These weekend trips are financially tough, the Sat night stay just kills the price, why can't they run the race on a nice Tuesday?

What's up, Doc?
I know what you mean about those "quick, weekend trips" to Disney! They end up costing a bundle! Excited for you about running the Princess 1/2. Wish I could be there.
The Castaway Cay 5k has been going on for a while now, from what I read here on the boards. It was very casual, everyone just went @ their own pace, some walked, some ran. No one checked to see if you finished or anything. It was in the Navigator the night before so I just showed up & off we went! Such fun! and about as far as I'm capable of running at this point!:rolleyes1

Jodi~ Welcome back! Have you still got your sea legs?

Cam and I have been on 5 Disney Cruises. 1 Eastern (Magic-with Kids), 2 Western (Magic 1 with kids, 1- adults only), 2 on the 3/4 day Wonder trip to Nassau (Once with Jenn, the other with my Mom, Jenn, Andrew and Cam; the last being July '08 with a double dip to Castaway Cay). We are booked to go this November on the Magic on a Western Cruise along with Judy (Honeibee & Charlie). It should be a great trip!

Thanks for the nice comments about my painfree foot. Well.. it is almost pain free. I have moments of slight discomfort but nothing like post-Goofy. I am stretching it a bit and icing it every night like clock-work. It seems to be helping. I have yet to put more than 2.35 miles on it yet though.

I went to the YMCA tonight and hit the elliptical XT machine and wes going at a pretty good clip when the fire alarms went off :scared1: and they evacuated the building. Smoke filled the hall outside the fitness center. I took advantage of the opportunity and came home after almost 3 miles on the crosstrainer. The firemen were arriving when I got to my car. Evidently a hair dryer blew up and caught on fire. It was out by the time the firemen got there, but the building had to be cleared anyway and checked out.

Chester~ Nice to see you posting. I am going to be in St. Pete's Beach for a seminar in May (12-16). Is that close to you? Or are you on the Atlantic side? I'll be flying into Tampa.

Have a great night!

:grouphug:

There is a Family Circus that Winters in the area. They have about 5 acres where they live and keep their animals, trucks and Circus apparatus. When they are in town, you can see a pair of giraffes, camels and zebras. They also have stuff in the yard like a Human Cannonball Cannon and a Ball of Death globe that they ride motorcycles around inside. It provides a welcome distraction on long runs. They are about 3.75 miles from the house.

Thurs. 12 - Flew into Tampa, drove down to mom's in Sarasota. Stopped by Chester's house on the way - around dinner time, but no one answered the door :confused3 ;)
Jodi
Sorry, Tracy had to work that night and I was out on a run. Too bad you didn't have smooth sailing for the entire trip.

J
Chester: We'll be looking for you on the course. Will you be at the meet the night before?
Jen
The plan is to just run over for the day. I'll just get up 2 hours earlier than everyone else.

Chester~ Nice to see you posting. I am going to be in St. Pete's Beach for a seminar in May (12-16). Is that close to you? Or are you on the Atlantic side? I'll be flying into Tampa.

You will be about 45 minutes North of me. I'd be happy to drive up and get together for a run and/or dinner.

4 miles planned for tonight.
