~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hi BOT-friends!

Cam and I are now moved into the Wilderness Lodge Villas for the rest of the week (through Sunday). I've now moved from a studio at BWV, to a 2 bedroom there, to the Grand Floridian and now to the WLV. There is so much stuff we are schlepping from room to room too. I have to work a week just to make up for the tips I've given out to bell services and valets.

First of all, the Vow Renewal was more than we could have imagined. Here is a link for you, our friends, to check out the sneak peek video of the ceremony. www.stvsvideo.com

You have to click on sneak peek, then use the following user name and password (username: blu-ray and password: magic). Then click on Cam & Howard (pavilion). Enjoy!

They put the sneak peek online for us to share with friends who could not make it to the ceremony. The actual video will be available in a few months.

The reception at the Whitehall Ballroom at the GF was wonderful and we even had Mickey Mouse show up and join the party.

The "Honeymoon" is going well, we are enjoying the time together very much. Cam is napping now, the early mornings and late nights have certainly taken their toll on us.

As for the races...

The 5K was awesome! I ran with Kevin Z, his DD (Katy), his DS (Kyle), my DS (Andrew) and Chester. The event was a fun run, and it lived up to it's billing. There were no time keepers, no clocks, etc. I ran slow, walked, ran backwards, weaved, etc. Chester was a great sport to hang with us throughout. I think we finished in something close to 41 minutes. Not sure though since we didn't get finish times and I didn't take my Garmin. On sedond thought, who cares?

As for the Half Marathon and Marathon... I haven't even looked up my "official" times. Unofficially, I think Mike and I finished the half at about 2:01:30 (or something close). I had the best time running with Mike and listening to all the adoring women (young and old) that were admiring his pants (and presumably what was inside them :rolleyes1 ). I think we pushed each other from time to time in the race. The results were good and a bit faster than I had hoped going into the race. I ran with the nagging PF injury, but I was able to overcome it on Saturday. The PF went from nagging to painful, then numbness took over. The pain was a precursor to Sunday.

After the Half, I waited for Cam to finish and some other WISHers. I got back to my room about 11:15 and took a hot shower, took some pain killers and got over the the BOT meet at Macaroni Grill. It was really nice to see everyone, sorry I showed up late.

I had set up to run the marathon with Stephen (Fulkerson) from the WISH Team. He and I met before the race and went to the Corral (C) and began the race on the blue course. I immediately felt pain from my PF and it wasn't going away. I managed to get about 14.6 miles out of the foot when the PF pain got so intense, I had to start walking. I also had a blister issue on the other foot that was painful. Although we ran a few brief sections of the course, we basically walked it in from there. We saw some WISHers on the course including Colleen (she looked great (as usual), fresh, and feeling fine. We walked a bit with Chester and his DS (Chet) and were caught by Sara  . She joined us after Animal Kingdom and helped pace us into the finish. She improved our walking pace (easily) by 2-2:30 min per mile. Towards the end of the race we were caught and overtaken by Charlie(Judy/Honeibee's DH). When Sara broke for the finish to go sub 6 hours, Stephen and I broke for it too and I somehow found the strength to sprint the last 500 yards of the race. I passed everyone in my path and finished just ahead of Sara, Stephen and Charlie. I think my time was close to 5:56. I have never:

a) Been in so much pain during a run.
b) Taken this long to finish a marathon.
c) Felt so weak and unable to live up to the challenge.
d) Not cared about my finish time. (I just wanted to complete it and leave something in the tank for the vow renewal the next morning.)

However, I have never ran with PF before - 3 days in a row (42.4 miles in 3 days) with little training due to the PF since the Philly Marathon.

I have better days ahead. I am going to the podiatrist when I return home to get my PF issue under control and healed. I am going to train for the Caesar Rodney Half in Wilmington, DE in March and run it with Lou and my friend Charlie (Judy's DH). He is going to come down for it and I am going to run the Ridgefield (CT) half in the fall up in his area.

I need to run. Let me know what you think of the video. I'll share photos and weigh in on possible relays/2009 races whenever possible.

GO STEELERS!!!!!

Howard - WOW! Sneak peek? That's better than some movie trailers. You'll have to let me know when the whole video airs on Lifetime so I can tell Nicole. Actually, I may not want her to see this. I'm glad I have 12 years until our 25th anniversary because I am going to need that much time to come up with a way to top that ceremony.

So glad you and Cam are enjoying this time together. You both look very happy.

I know far too many people that have dropped a fortune on a wedding ceremony in the past 5-10 years, only to get a divorce just a few years after the wedding. Heck, I have been to elaborate second weddings in the past few years. Getting married is an accomplishment but staying married (and in love) for 5, 10, 15, 25+ years is the real accomplishment. You both did it the right way. I'm happy for both of you!

Now heel up your feet and get ready for Caesar Rodney. I'm not going to want to hear any excuses in March. :lmao:

Howard -

Thanks for sharing the sneak peak -I agree with Lou - that's some incredible sneak peak - the video is going to be amazing!!!:lovestruc

You guys looked gorgeous. I just watched the video with DD8 - we both thought Cam looked like a princess.:bride: Your vows were beautiful!

Enjoy the rest of your "honeymoon"
Thanks again for sharing your special moments with us!

 Hugs to you and Cam

Kathy

I should be working (going to be a long night) but I couldn't resist looking at the video!

Howard - Thank you for sharing that with us!
Cam - you looked beautiful!

I hope you both are having a great second honeymoon!

Howard - Wow, wow, wow! That is some kind of wonderful video.

If I wasn't such a manly man I would have gotten a tear in my eye. I'm sure a non-distance running "guy" like Bruce would cry like a baby!

You have set the bar unobtainably high for us mere mortals.

Lou - Welcome aboard you insane fool!

On to more mundane things; I did get a little loosening up 4 mile run in this evening. It was pretty slow, but by no means easy. I am not currently a cripple, so I guess all is well.

Good night all.

Howard and Cam, what can I say, that was so wonderful.

You two are beautiful people.:lovestruc

Lou, congrats for making the Goofy plunge.

Wow... that's all I can say, wow...

Thank you so much for sharing your video with us Howard and Cam. You're both very inspiring in many ways. Congratulations on 25 wonderful years, and I wish you 25+ more. I feel honored to be considered a friend.

Cam and Howard, while you're at WL, if you happen to see Ranger Stan. Please tell him Dave "from the Podcast" says Hi. I interviewed him last weekend on Saturday, and was totally captured by his stories. He is such a great CM, and I felt like I was talking to my grandfather. If you have the time take his tour. You won't be dissapointed.

Mike I thought about running this morning, but last night while rocking out playing guitar hero--one of my christmas presents--my hamstrings still felt pretty tight, so I figured I should take another day off.

Lou I can't believe we talked you into the goofy! You are in for a world of pain..... er I mean fun! Actually the race is a year away, you've got plenty of time to train.

In other news I'm starting to think about running a spring marathon. I think I've narrowed it down to three choices, all on May 3rd:

#1 Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati. I've heard really good things about this one, and everyone on marathon guide loved it. We would have to fly there, though.

#2 New Jersey Longbranch Marathon. I hadn't heard of this one before, but I saw a both at the philly expo for it. It also got good reviews and I'd be able to drive there. The one downside is that it is two loops of a 13.1 mile course.

#3 Frederick Marathon in Maryland. This one is pretty local, but I'd probably still have to stay overnight. I know that Mike has run this before. Any thoughts? It is pretty small and some people had complaints about the course running around a Walmart and on the highway with cars driving next to you.

Howard - Loved the sneak peek  yet crying like a baby at work isn't helping me to maintain my stoic professional reputation in the eyes of the auditors:rolleyes1 Please tell Cam that she was a breathtaking bride:cloud9: and enjoy the rest of the honeymoon;)

Buried at work but hoping to catch up with you guys real soon:grouphug:

  Howard & Cam...Hope your honeymoon is splendid!!

LOVE the video - sheesh, neither one of my weddings was that nice! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: ;)

Matt, I did the Flying Pig Half in 2007, and loved it. It was a really fun race. I would run the full, but it's the same weekend as Pittsburgh. Do you have any interest in running the Pittsburgh Marathon with me? It'd be great to run together again. Although there's no characters to hug on the course.

Dave I totally forgot about the Pittsburgh marathon. I'll have to look into it also. It would be nice to meet again at the race. The one downside is that I've already run a marathon in PA. Not that I'm trying to do 50 marathons in 50 states, but if I was, I wouldn't want to repeat a state already :goodvibes

Makes sense, I hear you there. My interest in Pittsburgh is that it was my hometown marathon when I was growing up there. It got to be a pretty big marathon, and they had both the men's and women's olympic trials there at one point. The city really turned out for the race. Then, the city went bankrupt, and the parks department couldn't support the race anymore. So this is the first year back for the marathon after a 5 year hiatus. Plus, the course lies 1 block from my mother-in-law's house. So that makes it easy for my family to be spectators.

Oh hear's another reason to twist your arm - There's a special medal if you completed the Philadelphia marathon. I was talking to the Pittsburgh Marathon rep at the Philly Marathon, and he told me there was going to be some sort of special extra medal for people that ran both the Philly and Pittsburgh marathons.

Matt - Frederick was my first marathon. They've changed the course since I ran in '07 so I can't really comment about that too much. I will say that it's the only race I've ddone that's run through a cemetary.:confused3

It was a nice, small race. Not really much of an expo and nothing special post-race.

The goodie bag was pretty decent with a tech shirt, hat, and cheapo running gloves that I love and still use all winter long. They also gave a t-shirt to all the finishers.

Then, the race started and finished at the Key's stadium. I drove up race morning (not really that much farther than Leesburg) and parked 50 yards from the starting line. It was great.

It was a nice, close, cheap race. Plus, you also get the Maryland double special medal if you do Baltimore and I heard some conversation about that over the weekend.

Did I mention I ran 3 miles on Tuesday?? It felt just OK...a little winded.
Won't be running anytime soon as it's like 12 degrees out & I just don't feel like being that cold right now. The dreadmill's just not an option.
Besides, I'm going to concentrate on my CORE for a while  . I know, but all the kids are doin' it!!
Gotta get a 6-pack for that 7-night Disney cruise I'm going on in less than a month :rolleyes1 :snooty:

Oh, you lucky ducks! Take lots of pictures of the ship, the beaches, while you are at the pool, snorkeling, etc., if the Cloud happens to be in them, I won't mind!popcorn::

Matt - Not hard to talk me into anything that involves going to WDW. The pain doesn't bother me. I just have to get over the fact that the numbers will look ugly but I really don't know why I should be worrying about that anyway.

The NJ Marathon looks good and I have eyed it up the last 2 years. The reason I passed last year was that I decided to run the Broad St Run on the same day. Everyone I have talked to says the NJ race is pretty nice as long as you can get over the loop thing. If it were in South Jersey I would lean heavier towards it.
