~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Howart - Welcome back from S. Carolina, sounds like you had a blast, despite the soggy peanuts . Rancid!! Now get back to runnin'!

I managed to beat the rain drops tonight: It was a rain shortened run. Miles: 3.0; Time: 28:45; Pace: 9:35; Splits: 9:09, 10:36 and 8:59.

Mike~ I am running the Marathon ONLY. Last three years were Goofy. This past year included the 5K too.

:grouphug:

Howard

I did nothing today but go to work, walk dogs, make dinner & drink a Jamaican Dragon Stout (make that two).:littleangel:

Hey everyone - tomorrow we leave on our one week vacation at American Adventure, Liberty Square, and the Hall of Presidents. ;) Yahoo! :cool1: So I may be a little scarce around here.

Seriously, DW really wanted to go somewhere different this year besides Florida :scared1: . So we decided to go to Colonial Williamsburg. I'm really excited to go somewhere I've never been before, and soak in a little of America's history. The girls, Maggie (DD11) princess: and Evie (DD8) pooh: , are really into history and the reinactments. So it should be fun.

We rented a 2 bedroom condo with our own hot tub - so we should have lots of room to spread out.

Here are some things I'm looking forward to.
Seeing some period buildings in Colonial Williamsburg
"Revolutionary City" dramas acted out in the streets
Fife and Drum Corps
Eating in Shield's Tavern
Witch Trial evening show

We have a pass that will allow us to go back and forth between Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens Williamsburg too. So we are definitely going to get our amusement park fix too.

Have a great week everyone. I may check in with some updates along the way.

Cindy and Matt - I'm sure you are enjoying yourselves in Japan.

Sara - I'm running the LBI 18-miler that weekend. If you're looking for something between a 1/2 and a full come down to LBI.

Dave - Loved the pics of the Apollo celebration. Enjoy your vacation and the time with the family. I'll be interested in your take on Williamsburg. Nicole and I went many years ago and I didn't like it as much as I thought I would but then again it was like 100 degrees the entire weekend.

Jodi - I'm at the Wall St Inn for NYC weekend. You and Bruce and invited to the pool this weekend. Your assignment: bring the Jamaican Dragon Stout. By the way, I love the old school pic of you on FB from the Oklahoma play in 1981.

Mike - I'm in for Goofy this year. Nicole's 40th b-day is that Saturday so it will be a Goofy B-day celebration.

Howard - Glad you were able to dodge the lightning bolts on Wednesday. That storm was scary.

Colleen, Chester, Jen, CindyLou, others - HI!

Ran 5 miles on Monday, Wednesday, and yesterday. Taking today off as my knees are getting sore. This weekend I'll do an LR somewhere...possibly the shore. Haven't run along the ocean all year.

Lou

So we decided to go to Colonial Williamsburg.

Can't wait to hear all about the trip, sounds like tons of fun.

Off for a little yoga this morning before last minute errands. Our flight to MCO is at 6:04 tonight. See you all in about 12 days.:grouphug:

Colleen - Have a great time on the cruise!! Don't forget to run, run, run!:rotfl:

Dave - Have a great time in Colonial Williamsburg!! Are you flying, driving? I assume driving, since you're stopping to see your sister. Be safe & try to check in periodically!

Lou - Thanks for not running too much this week & making me look bad :goodvibes. That picture is from summer camp, how funny is that? Bruce & I will be @ the pool around noon, kay?

Mike - Ever had one of them Dragon Stouts??? Good stuff. So what's Boston looking like, Bro? I hope you, Kathy & the kids have fun in Disney :yay:. I'm sure you'll be flying back & forth to work in between, no?

Mindy-san - DONGGG!!!!

Hey, did you guys get the email from Disney Endurance today stating there would be a a tickedt party on Sunday night for all participants from race weekend?? TICKETED event? Like we haven't already spent enough jing? Awaiting details.

Only 6 miles tomorrow. Nice. Then acupuncture guy appt. I feel pretty good, just wanna keep it that way.

Dave - Have fun in Williamsburg!

Colleen - Let's see... It's 10:20PM right now. Less than 2 hours till the midnight buffet!

Lou - No mention of the Cliff Lee deal? Yet another rebuilding decade for the Indians. Heavy sigh.

Have a good LR this weekend.

Jodi - I've never had a Dragon Stout but something tells me I might like it.:thumbsup2 Boston? Hell, I'm happy for the B corral at Disney at this point.

I ran a miserable 13 mile LR this morning. I jinxed myself by making light of an "only 13 mile LR" to Kathy and DD12. I've been running multiple 10 milers a week all month so what's the big deal? Well, my goose was cooked about 5 miles in. I was so far off my target pace I'm not even sure it counts.

Have a good weekend all!

Good Morning Everyone:

Jodi- Yep, we're driving down. Spending overnight with my sister in Baltimore tonight, and then checking in our condo in Williamsburg tomorrow.

Lou- I'm definitely thinking it's going to be hot in VA. However, we've done Florida in July and August - so we're hoping we have a good plan to deal with the heat.

I decided to take a running break to rest my shin. I've been doing some biking to try to keep my conditioning up, and focusing on my core.

Can I stowaway in one of your bags of luggage, fellow-bots?

I need a vacation.

:3dglasses

Hey Bots,

Miranda will be joining Chet and me for the Goofy this year! She figured that Chet ran his first at 18 and since she turns 18 in October, then it's her turn. I'm really looking forward to running it with both my kids.

I've run a little over 600 miles so far this year and hope to eclipse 1,200 before the end of the year.

I'm registered for all of the fall Disney races. Miranda will be my partner for Expedition Everest. Chet will be running Face for the Taste and Tower of Terror with me.

I'll keep watching everyone's Disney plans to see if I can sync a trip over and meet up.

Best wishes and happy running to all bots everywhere,

Chester

Chester - Hooray for Miranda!! That must be such an exciting prospect for you - running with both the kids.. Spencer's doing the 1/2 this year, but I don't think I'll run with him...he says I'm too obnoxious....MOI?:rolleyes1.

You run too much. ;)

Hey Everyone, I hope all my BOT friends are doing well. I just wanted to check in briefly from my vacation here in Williamsburg.

We've been enjoying all the people in their Colonial garb. They're really fun to talk to, and always in period character.

The girls played some period games.

Mrs. Washington was coming to town today.

Her coach was amazing...

The girls had a private audience with Mrs. Washington. DW had to ask her how many layers of clothes she was wearing.

We enjoyed a few of the colonial buildings today.

The public jail (Public Gaol) was a real favorite.

The wigmaker asked if she could shave the girl's heads.

We toured Wetherburn's Tavern.

Saw the silversmith.

And the hatmaker and tailor.

We had a small bite for lunch at the Raleigh Tavern Bakery.

OK, that's it for now. I'll be back with more later.

Dave - Glad you guys are enjoying Williamsburg. Maybe someday we'll give it another try. I think we just get spoiled because we have all the historic sites to see in Philly which we rarely ever see. How was Busch Gardens?

Jodi - We'll be at the pool again this weekend if you guys want to crash the party. Maybe we can reinact the whole Oklahoma play?

Chester - Congrats to Miranda. I'm hoping I can get my kids to run some marathons when they turn 18 in 8-10 years. I'm actually hoping I can still run these races in 8-10 years. Way to go on the 600 miles! I ran 135 miles in July which was the second most I ever ran in a month. Not sure why I did it.

Mike - Yes, how about this Cliff Lee deal. What's going on in Cleveland? What's going on with the Phils? The trade deadline passes and the Phillies made the biggest deal. First time in my lifetime. I'm just hoping the Phils can keep this up and become the Red Sox of the NL. Maybe the Sixers can trade Iguodala, Dalembert, a box of soft pretzels, and a case of Tastycakes to Cleveland for Lebron?

Hey Sara, Colleen, Howard & Cam, Cindy & Matt, and the rest of the Bots.

Walked 3 with Nicole on Monday and ran 5 today. It's really nasty out now. Besides the heat/humidity we have these nasty NJ flies that will try to bite your head while you run and have chased me for over a mile. Why did I move into this bug-infested state?

Lou

Jodi
Running with Chet during the last 2 Goofy's and the last 4 Muddy Buddy's has been a lot of fun as was the Expedition Everest last year with Miranda. I'm really looking forward to January now.

Dave
What a great trip. I haven't been to Williamsburg since I was 12. I would really like to go again.

Lou
I didn't had to push the kid's into running. They were both really involved with sports growing up and have always been in good shape. Now that they have finished High School they needed something to keep them fit (although Miranda is in an indoor soccer league that plays once a week). I do all my training alone and the time really flies by running besides your kid and it really feels good to finish the races together.

Best wishes and happy running to all bots everywhere,

Chester

Hi, everyone!

Chester-- That is so cool about Miranda running with you. You'll have a blast!

Dave -- so glad you are having a good time. Our trips to Williamsburg have always been in the dead of summer and we just found it unbearably hot. I can't believe how little shade there is around the historic area. The girls look like they are really taking in the whole experience.

Hi to everyone I missed.

I am feeling so unhappy these days about not being able to run when every step hurts. I can't remember the last time I got a good night sleep since every time I move my knee hurts, so I'm pretty grumpy, too, which I'm sure is making Howard's life a real pleasure -- I'm surprised he hasn't taken off for a long run straight out with no "back".

I have my personal training session tomorrow and am glad to work on upper body and core stuff, but I really miss walking and running. My MRI was this morning and I'll see the ortho on Thursday. If it's a torn meniscus, I'm hoping he can repair it ASAP -- I had such high hopes for the Race for the Taste and now am even dreading walking around EPCOT for food. LOL!

Hugs to all of you training for races and/or enjoying vacation. I am jealous on both fronts!

Hello Bots,

Hope you are all enjoying your summer. I’m happy to report we are finally having some summer weather. I WILL NOT complain about the heat as long as it doesn’t rain anymore.

Chester: How nice for you to be able to run races with your kids. Good luck to Miranda in January.

Lou: 135 miles in July is pretty impressive. Sorry about the bugs, how annoying is that?

Dave: Thanks for sharing your photos. They are great. My cousin Michelle from Indiana is in Williamsburg this week. Tell her I said hi if you see her.

Jodi: Any vacation plans this summer? Glad the acupuncture is working.

Mike: Sorry to hear about your miserable 13 miler. Sometimes they just happen. Next one will be better!! I am running Goofy for the first time this year.

Colleen: Hope you are enjoying your trip.

Cindy and Matt: Hope you are enjoying your trip.

Howard: Hope all is well.

Sara: Good luck with training for your ½ which ever one you choose.

The Tri I did was fantastic. I had such fun doing it and ended up completing it more than 10 minutes faster than I had hoped. The swim wasn’t as terrible as I imagined, the bike was just fine (though riding my 15 year old mtn bike didn’t help my time much) the run however was just awful. After getting off the bike my legs felt so weird I just hated the first mile of the run. After a while they started to feel a little bit better then I got to the part of the run course that goes straight up hill for a ¼ mile on a trail that was all mud and rocks and tree roots. Running past all the people that were walking up that hill was pretty fun. The last ½ mile was downhill or flat along the roads so I was able to finish strong. I ended up 16 out of 41 women in my age group and had the 30th fastest time for the run out of the women. That made me feel a little better about the run portion.

Following the Tri we left for a week of vacation on the beach in RI. I ran a 10 mile race while there. My time was 3 minutes faster than I ran last year so I was happy to see that all the tri training didn’t adversely affect my running fitness. Now I have 11 weeks until my Fall marathon so I’m going to buckle down and try to stick to my training plan. I have just 3 runs a week planned since I have a hard time fitting anything more in with work/family/life. Along with this I hope to shed 5 to 10 lbs to lighten the load I need to carry thru the course. Just back away from the chocolate, Cindy.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy
