The promos make my stomach turn. As a PK, I'm not a big fan of making fun of clergy, but we'll see. See now I've got to watch just to see what it's all about.

What do the promos show? (I don't watch that much TV, haven't seen them.) How are they making fun of clergy? I did read that the American Family Association is up in arms about it - apparantly because it is about a pastor with a not-so-perfect family. I wouldn't write off the show just because of that, I would watch it first to make my own judgement. It quite possibly could be a good show.

Poking fun at the clergy can be done without being nasty. The Brits did a great job. Remember The Vicar of Dibley and Father Ted? And right here on the WB Network, the 7th Heaven show pokes fun also and his family sure has it's share of problems!

The show focuses on an Episcopalian minister and father. He finds himself conversing with Jesus - his mentor and friend - who helps navigate family problems, church politics and even his nagging reliance on prescription painkillers.

This is a description, don't know about poking fun at clergy but just sounds weird.

I don't know, that description sounds like it is sort of the same premise as Joan of Arcadia, which was a very good show.

I don't watch that either but this is a little different because Jesus is represented as a person who is from what the reviews say is a unseen friend of the pastor? I really don't have a religious objection but the promo's I've seen it just looks strange.

Ha-- PKs!! Takes one to know one! As soon as I read that, I wondered if anyone besides other PKs would know what it meant. Makes me feel like a kid again to hear it...

Yep! I just get frustarated with the stereotypes of PK's. I also get frustarted with being a PK at times. Who knows maybe I will end up watching this show and liking it, just know that not all families with clergy parents are ****ed up, LOL!

To be honest, I want to see a show about a Muslim family. I've already got an idea in my head for "Holla Allah."

Even though I'm not a PK, I went to a Baptist college so I know lots of them, so I knew what PK stood for!

As for the show, I think it looks terrible. From what I gather from the promos, the priest and his brother go into some sort of business with backing from the mob, the priest's SIL is openly gay, somebody (wife, kid, who knows) is "slutty", etc. Then they go and throw Jesus in the mix and it's all with this sort of snarky attitude.

Looks like a far cry from Joan of Arcadia and other religion/God/etc shows. It just looks like a big blasphemous mess to me.

PK here too and yes I thought it looked really questionable myself. Snarky seems like a very good word for it.


I can take making fun of pastors and their families, we have a sense of humour too , but make fun of my religion and my faith and we have a problem.

Slightly off topic, but why do these shows always portray EPISCOPALIAN ministers and their families???


Remember a few years ago when Dan Ackroyd was in a similar show?
