Has no one here been? I can't find any threads, and I'd like to get some reviews/impressions that aren't from the usual blogs.

We had dinner here on Wednesday, May 6. Thumbnail review: food was among the best on Disney property. You'd be hard-pressed to find the same level of quality and preparation at many WDW venues. Somewhere between a Signature and V & A's in terms of food quality/aspiration. Dinner for the two of us came to around $175, including 20% tip.

The service was woefully frustrating. From the bartender's not knowing how to make a Negroni (everyone at the table had their drinks long before I did) to the server's inattention to our six-top, the service has a long way to go to be polished and appropriate.

The noise level at a nearly-full dinner service was tooth-jarringly loud. The din was almost unbearable, and it was hard to hear the people across the (not very large) round six-top we had. Stepping outside after, we were all struck by how QUIET everything seemed outside the restaurant. They're really going to have to do something about this. The setting and rooms are charming, but the noise is a fatal drawback.

Went there once - won't go back. Not because it was bad, but the menu was limited for our family and we felt like we could be another place with a bigger menu and better location. When eating at PO, we eat at CS or at DTD.

So great to hear that, OP! We are making an ADR on 5/15 for November! We are a steak and seafood loving pair of guys so the Boathouse menu is right up our alley!

The OP is talking about The BOATHOUSE, a new restaurant in Donwtown Disney.
It sounds like you are talking about Boatwright's Dining Hall at POR.

OP, thanks for reporting back, and the warning on the noise level.

Ate there on May 1 and had one of the best meals we've ever had at Disney. The food was incredible! We had oysters, the baked crab-stuffed lobster and a side of fries. Everything was heavenly! And in a contrast to PP, our service was overly attentive. I even remarked at one point how many staff members there seemed to be.

Hope they work out the Tables in Wonderland discount soon! We will be back.

Maybe we got the newbie then. We did remark that there seemed to be so much staff scurrying around, but not seeming to be doing much!

We'd definitely go back, but maybe try to get an outside table. We did request to sit in the Lake House Room (the pale blue-painted room), as it seemed to be quieter. Walking out through the other rooms, we discovered it actually was - and still unbearable.

But yeah, fantastic food. Everything about the cooking was spot-on.

If that's the case (they're confusing the Boathouse with Boatwright's) , then no wonder this post didn't make sense to to me!

We ate there during the soft opening. We had the firecracker shrimp - very good, nice kick but not too spicy. Also enjoyed the fish and chips - very very fresh fish; and the buffalo chicken salad, very tasty. We found the service to be excellent - very attentive. Overall we definitely liked it, and will certainly go back.

We went for dinner one night and got the tomahawk steak... I had been eyeing it ever since the menu came out. It was excellent! The sides we got (potatoes and asparagus) were great too. After that we went a couple more times and sat at the bar for drinks and oysters to watch some hockey (we were staying at SS so a nice quick walk). Boathouse now holds a special place in my heart as this was our honeymoon trip in early May

I'll be booking 5/15 for this summer!!! Can't wait to try it!!!! :D

We have eaten there twice now, once at dinner and once for lunch and each time the food was great. Yes, it is pricier (to me) than most other Disney restaurants, still. It was very, very good. The service as others have mentioned is lacking (for now). It is basically a brand new restaurant and I'm sure they are still "trimming the fat" from their service team.

For dinner and lunch actually, we shared the Beach & Sea Lobster Bake (serves two) and it was $60.00. We also shared the Firecracker Shrimp ($19.00) for an appetizer. Only thing I thought was well over priced there. After drinks and a tip our bill was somewhere near the $160.00 mark for two. Mind you we did order two bottles of wine in there as well as other pre-dinner cocktails. So take that total as you will.

Still, the restaurant to me is very good and the Boathouse Bar outside is a great place to sit and be right on the water with a usually a nice breeze coming through. You can even catch the live music from the nearby stage as well. Good evenings already have been spent here and looking forward to more!
