Just joining in! We're gearing up for our first stay at BWI in October. Can't wait:yay:. We got the monster savings PIN yesterday and DH was nudging me to upgrade our standard room to CL. (our last two trips were CL -- Poly and GF -- and I think he's become addicted!) I didn't do it but now I'm thinking maybe I should've after reading some great reviews of it. This is a short trip and our schedule is pretty full so I'm not sure how much downtime we'd have to take advantage of the lounge. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!

I had that 'horrible' view too, the first time I stayed at the BWI CL, thankfully they had a spare and moved me - to a great room overlooking the gardens with a fantastic illuminations view.

Sorry for my mistake lovesdumbo. We have always had a Boardwalk view during our family trips and have always had an odd number. That is why I went by that. One of my girls' trips we had a courtyard view and it was even. As far as the number of deluxe rooms I think there are 10 but I don't want to give out misinformation again so don't quote me.;)

I think all BW view rooms are odd just not all odd rooms are BW.;)

Wouldn't the convenience of the lounge be even more important on a short trip.:rotfl:

I am just watching Unwrapped from Walt Disney World and YouTube and it made me wonder this question. Are any items from the Boardwalk Bakery available at the Innkeepers Club Level lounge?

The breakfast pastries are from the Boardwalk Bakery :goodvibes

Another question I have is how crowded does the main pool with the clown water slide get?

We went in July and it wasn't SUPER crowded, but it's not very large so it seemed a little crowded just because of the size of the area. It's surrounded by trees and between the buildings, so it feels a little cramped. Much less open than the one at the CR.

Not all odd CL rooms face the BW. This was the view from my odd# room behind the ESPN Club:

Is this the infamous ESPN satellite view room I've heard so much about?

I can tell you that the wait for the slide can take more than a few minutes...obviously, it's a nice long slide and you have to wait for the previous slider to clear----but it is well worth it! This grandmother LOVES the slide! (and the pool can certainly get busy in the middle of a hot afternoon--but we never felt too crowded)

For people who have stayed at the BWI and the Poly, how is the BWI's pool compared to the Poly's pool, crowd wise?

Are they relative in size? Do they both stayed so crowded in the summer you can't move around or are always bumping into people?

We are thinking of staying at the BWI this summer, for a non-park trip and one reason I was leaning toward the BWI over the Poly (one of our other choices) was because I felt like the pool was bigger and probably less crowded than it is at the Poly. I've never seen the pool at the BWI in person, but I have seen the Poly pool in person.

I was at BWI 5/5 to 5/12. We went to the quiet pool at the Inn (not DVC) around 3pm on Thursday 5/6 and I would say there was never more than 10 people there. Lots of available seats-even under umbrellas.

We went to the clown pool around 7:30pm on Mother's Day and it was busier but NOT crowded and still lots of seats under umbrellas. I was exhausted that night and didn't go into the pool so I didn't try the slide but my friend's DD really enjoyed it and the wait didn't seem bad. The date stamp between her 1st run down the slide and her 2nd was only 5 minutes so she had to get out of pool, climb back up, wait and slide down again.

I've never been to Poly in May. The only time I've seen Poly pools less crowded was around 9am on a January morning. I don't remember there being any umbrellas at the quiet pool at Poly but I'm not sure about that.

OH...I should add that when I was there folks staying at YC/BC could come use the clown pool because their slide was down.

yep that is the one. and honestly if you compare it to a YC CL or BC CL standard/garden view room where you can get parking lot or roof tops views., the BWI view is not so bad but it is LOUD. right by a service road of sorts.

Have stayed at both several times...The BWI pool is larger, and definitely not as "congested" as Poly's pool. It's not zero-entry, but nice that it is much less crowded.

It was loud. I was very worried about noise from the ESPN club but didn't hear a thing. But the service road did wake me up in the morning-but I guess that was OK as I had to get up and pack to move to a better room.

Whenever my family and I have arrived at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Wilderness Lodge and said to the Cast Member at the guard shack we were checking-in, then after looking up our name and etc they then gave us our parking pass. Anyway I am wondering will that also happen at the Boardwalk because I know it's a fair walk back to the parking lot, so if we can get our parking pass right away that would help.
