Oh well, I really want to know about the 1 and 2 bedroom "suites" in the hotel or inn section of the Boardwalk...

I've heard that the DVC units never receive a "full" refurbishment...just ongoing replacement of individual items that are worn?:confused3

My guess would be that is partly true. I would guess that they get more ongoing maintenance and updating than regular rooms (replacement of worn items as soon as they are needed rather than waiting for a full refurb schedule).

And I would guess that in time, they do receive full updating, but DVC is still kind of a new "concept", and a lot of the facilities are very new still, so a pattern hasn't been established. What is the oldest DVC out there, and what do we know about its refurb schedules over the years?

We were at the Chicago Area's "Doorway To Dreams" vacation club place tonight and I asked the CM that very question! He had no idea. Or, so he said. He also refused to recognize the Contemporary as a DVC possibility and that's rediculous! :rotfl:

I was at WDW at the end of June and a cm told me they had to sign papers that they would not discuss the Contemporary project.

Boardwalk Villas is 12 years old. OKW is the oldest, 16 years old. They recently replaced the sofas in the villas.

OK, just saw the pics of the "new room" today and changed my ressie from YC to BWI. I really wanted a Deluxe Concierge room, but they only had standard concierge. I have a question regarding this - Does this mean "standard view" or just "standard room?" I was really hoping for a boardwalk view. The CM said it just said "view of gardens and parking lot" on the description. I know at WL the view is not specified when you book CL, and I am wondering if the same is true at BWI. So, any help from someone who knows for sure would be greatly appreciated.

You gotta love those new rooms - they look awesome!

We had a standard concierge room on our last trip. We requested and received a boardwalk view. It isn't guaranteed (except for the deluxe concierge rooms), but it doesn't hurt to put in a request for it.

We will be checking out of BWV on Nov. 1st, how soon do they begin putting up Christmas decorations? Just wondered if we'll see any on our last day maybe? :confused3

Thanks, I will request it. Where was your room located?

We were on the 4th floor, down the hall from the lounge (come out of the lounge and take a right). I can't remember the room number, but we were right next to the deluxe rooms. Great location.

Thanks so much. I will request 4th floor boardwalk view.:surfweb: I'm so excited about the trip!

Has anyone stayed in a BWI 2 bedroom suite? Reviews? Pictures?

Also, anyone know if any of the deluxe rooms on 4th flr connect to a standard room?

TIA!:goodvibes

There are other websites that have detailed pictures of the 2 bedroom suite at BWI but I'm not allowed to post links. Try a google search.

Nice! They really remind me of the new GF rooms.

Those were my thoughts, too. As the GF is my very favorite, that's a great thing! :goodvibes

I'm really glad to see the BWI getting some TLC. We stayed there in Dec. '05 and thought it was wonderful (beautiful at the holidays!), and I've wanted to go back, but did thnk the rooms were looking a bit worn. They've really taken them up a notch, IMO!

I agree Tinkaroo, but on another detail. We went in 2004, and everything was lovely, but I have noted that all the deluxe resorts have been getting a makeover which takes them from kitchy to elegant, while still maintaining a good level of theming and Disney magic. The Contemporary is one of my favorite makeovers. it was so...."done" before. Very..."future as the 80's might have seen it" kind of plasticy kitch. And now it is futuristic and classy! I am glad the BWI is getting the same treatment in its own theme!

Well said. It makes (somewhat) stomaching the high prices to stay there a bit more palatable as they get some treatments that you would see in other high end hotels (flat screen tvs, better bedding, iPod clock radios, etc.).

I really like the little throw pillows with the BWI monogram on it! Wonder if they'll be selling those...

Greetings,
We'll be staying at the Boardwalk Inn for the first time during the period 10/29-11/4/08. We're really looking forward to it. We made our reservations back in June and I requested (thru my AAA agent) for a standard room with standard view that's been refurbished. We'd rather have an updated room as opposed to one that has not been updated.

Does anyone have any feedback on what my chances are for getting a standard view room that's already been updated? Will the refurbishments be completed by then?

Also, if I want to make additional requests (such as a refrigerator and two queen beds instead of a single king bed), should I go thru my AAA agent or call BWI directly?

Thanks,
Eric
