The *BEST* Biscuits & Gravy? UPDATE - PAGE 3

Okay all, let's get a definitive answer now! lol! Thanks for all of your replies and information.

So far...here's the top choices mentioned...

1. Cracker Barrell
2. Park Faire
3. Whispering Canyon
4. Kona Cafe

We are not traveling off-property, so #1 is out. Let's narrow it down now....

My DH got the gravy at 1900 Park Fare and I tried it...pretty good, didn't taste canned to me..and I am very picky about my gravy. It looks like you've got a hard decision to make!

My momma's! Haha, j/k! All though they are the best biscuits from made-from-scratch with cream gravy! Yum! :teeth:

I really am not too sure about on property....I know Cracker Barrel has pretty good southern breakfast food. There biscuits and gravy are probably as good as your gonna get, IMO.

I am ROFL -- I came to this board to try to figure out the Dining Plan, but I was distracted by a thread talking about biscuits and gravy. I mean, c'mon, this is too great to ignore! Someone from New Jersey actually craves biscuits and gravy instead of making fun of it? This is SO COOL!!!!!!

The truth is, most Southerners have been so spoiled by real biscuits and gravy that we don't even *try* to eat 'em in a restaurant. I know I can't tell you where to get good biscuits & gravy at WDW. I go in search of a perfect sesame bagel, because, after all, while we Southerners excel at biscuits & gravy, we mangle bagels to death by adding blueberries or cinnamon and sugar. Eeeeyuuuuuuch!!!!! I would knock over little old ladies for a decent sesame bagel at home. Fortunately, little old ladies at home are safe because we just do not have the technology to produce decent sesame bagels.

Similarly, I can't imagine a restaurant that can make biscuits and gravy half as fabulous as the fare my husband makes. I am a decent Southern cook, but I can't make sausage gravy to save my life. (I have made edible redeye gravy a couple of times. Puts hair on your chest, y'know.) I have to rely on DH to make the gravy if we're going to be eating that for breakfast.

I, too, wish the OP could come stay at my house and have *real* biscuits and gravy. I wish I could tell her where to get the real thing in the World. Sadly, I cannot... but I'm so glad non-Southerners have developed a taste for this breakfast treat! :)

AMEN on the bojangles, I'm a southern girl, but the Army has moved us to CO, and I miss bojangles :( my belly doesn't miss it, but my tastebuds do! Hardees does pretty good with the biscuits and gravy too, again thats a fast food chain.

Well, my man Jake Delhomme does the commercials for Bojangles, so it's gotta be good.... :D

I was told I had to have the breakfast but we didn't make it when we were in NC (too much late night partying :P). Did have the Cajun Filet though and it was sweet... awesome fries too.

Anyway, back on the subject.... will have to try Boatwrights for breakfast now - we're staying at POR and aren't interested in it for supper but never thought about breakfast ;)

And to me, it's all about Southern treats. This Canadian girl loves a good crawfish etouffee, catfish, pralines, real BBQ and grits. As well as soon to love (I'm sure) my first taste of a beignet. Trust me, you can't get ANYTHING like that up here and I enjoy it whenever I'm in the South, I'd take it over Chinese or Italian anyday ;)

IMHO

On property,
1900 Park Faire.

Off Property (and you have to be driving to Disney as none of these places are close)
Bojangles
Lexie's LunchBox (Lake Mary Blvd in Lake Mary, FL I'll give directions in a PM if anybody is driving on I4 in the Sanford area around breakfast time)

Lexie makes everything from scratch and they were just the best I have ever tasted.

And by the way... IS there a Bojangles even close to Orlando at all? I found Popeyes online but didn't think there was a Bojangles in Florida anywhere... please correct me if I'm wrong (and give me directions ;) :) ). I know I can get it in NC but we're flying so it would have to be close to within a 30 minute drive...

Haha, Bay! I have a friend from Missouri who was always talking about biscuits & gravy....I tried 'em and immediately got hooked! I am still really stumped as to where to getthem at WDW. I tried them at POFQ's food court and they were fairly good.
