the back of the Bisquick box (does it come in whole wheat?)
Hey Don! I don't believe Bisquick makes a ww mix (though I would totally buy it if they did, especially if it was lowfat as well!), but there is a whole wheat mix available from Hodgson Mill, called Insta-Bake. It does have some white flour, but the first ingredient is whole wheat flour.

Here's the Hodgson Mill website with some nutritional info: click here

I've found it at my local Safeway (in the "organic" section), other people have found it at Super Walmart, or possibly online grocers - the Hodgson Mill website also has an online store where you can buy Insta-Bake.

Just thought you'd like to know! Have a great day! :)

You're doing great. Gotta go drink my ice watah! And what is an impossible pie?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks April, that stuff looks good, don't know if any stores out west here stock it, we don't have Safeway's in Utah anymore, did when I was a kid. I'll look for it.
Here the cheeseburger pie recipe, we leave out the onions 'cause I don't like 'em, this time I added some of my garlic clove and some season salt, sometimes I spread some sliced mushrooms on top before i bake it. I'm sure its not for everyone, but we like it. The nutritional info says its only 11 g of carbs per serving, not too bad.

OK, I'm a little frustrated today. Thought I did pretty good yesterday, no soda, walked last night, ate relatively right, all looking forward to resuming the downward trend on the scale this morning. Dang thing said 386, is it broken?! GRRR, oh well, at least I feel pretty good about what I did. Lunch was a discovery, went and tried a McD chicken bacon ranch salad, dang, that was GOOD! I thought they were still like those stupid salad shakers, so I had a hockey puck (doublecheeseburger) to go with it, didn't need it. Also had a 42oz Powerade, it was good, no-caffeine and non-carbonated, but I just saw that it has just as much carbs as soda, 19g for 8 oz, so about 100 in a 42oz. Crapola, better stick with the delicious, refreshing H20. Grilled Pork Chops for dinner, with salad and a baked potato. I guess between the tortillas on the bfast burritos, the burger bun and the powerade, and the baked potato, it was a rather high-carb day. So, I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Got a leftover porkchop and salad for lunch, had a bfast hot pocket and been munching on granola. Still, over all, I feel pretty good, I'll just keep working at it. Looked a little today for a place to go for our anniversary, Sept. 21, 2 days before my birthday. Park City is nice, found some good deals on Expedia, Radisson looks nice. Its our 14th, and I'd sure love to have lost a significant amount of weight by then. Gotta git 'er done!!

Those guys are kind of creepy...

Doing pretty good for an off-track day. I like the fruit and walnut salads, personally. I've never had a chicken-bacon salad. Sounds yum-filled though.

5 more days without McDonalds, Chips and Juice for me! YES! (Background: I've been doing this 100-Day Challenge, and I have 5 days left!)

does your challenge exclude the salads? If not, sorry for tempting you! :teeth: It was dang good, I think it was better than the Wendy's salads, but not the variety. I really liked the Wendy's Southwest chicken salad but they discontinued it. I like the oriental, but its higher in carbs (the orange slices and dressing boost it).

Hi Don!

Sounds to me like you are still a winner even if you weren't having the best day, you weighed in and saw something you didn't like and did you quit? NO!!! You looked at what you have been doing and are taking in those lessons. Also remember our bodies fluctuate a lot, I would think especially when we more (as you know we do! hehe), so a +/- 5lb shift can happen if you had a lot of salt and held the water, or a variety of things. I think you will be back on track in no time, stay faithful to your food journaling as it seems to help ya and look for changes you can make there (like you did with the PowerAde!) You have the tools and the power, and you are on your way to greatness!

Sounds like a nice anniversary you are planning! Hope you find somewhere romantic and special. And a nice way to celebrate the end of the summer with a lot less of you too! hehehe :teeth:

Have a happy & healthy evening!
Mike

Wow, I wish my DH would plan a weekend for our Sept. anniversary...maybe I'll leave him a link to your post as a hint. ;)

The scale can be my biggest enemy some days...it's hard to trudge forward when you expect a loss and don't see it. I'm trying like crazy to track my progress other ways...recently, it's been number of holes in my belt that I skip, or how much am I able to push myself when I exercise.

Just keep journaling and keeping track of your food here. Eventually, you'll start to notice patterns and be able to respond accordingly.

Happy Friday!!! :)

Good morning, Don! See? I thought you were a real sweetheart and then you go telling us about your romantic intentions, and we know for sure! Our very dear friends share your anniversary, literally! They are also celebrating 14 years on 9/21! What a small world!

That powerade will really get you, right? At one point, I drank a whole bottle of it over the course of 70 minutes of exercise, and when I journaled my exercise and my food for the day, I found out that most of my weight watchers activity points earned during that exercise session had to go to cover those points the powerade cost me. I was frustrated but laughing, too! Now I mix 1/2 powerade with water, so I still get the benefits at 1/2 the cost.

I hope you have an awesome weekend!

BTW, Hodgson Mill makes lots of really good whole wheat products. I love the whole wheat pasta. I mix it with Ragu light dressing and a little fat free ricotta cheese for an incredibly delicious and filling meal.

Haha, my wife wishes I would quit thinking about romance and GET SOME WORK DONE!! We're getting ready for a big family garage sale with her brother's families this saturday, and she's been working hard to get the house clean, don't know why, I won't let any of them in! :teeth: ;) My job was to clean out the suburban, clean the garage, and try and put all the old bicycles back together so we could sell them. I got the back of the suburban done night before last, and got most of the bikes fixed up last night, started on the garage but then she got off the JetBlue phone and we finished it together. It would have been great except I get grumpy when I'm cleaning up after my kids, and the garage was pretty dusty and cobwebby. Plus I'm still fighting this cold a little bit, its not too bad but just an irritant mostly.
I was slightly tempted to get a soda this morning, having the cold and being a little groggy used to send me straight there. Skipped it, had a McD steak and egg bagel and bfast burrito instead. Thought about just doing the bagel value meal with the hashbrowns and a powerade, but I'm still steamed about the carbs in the powerade, grrrr. Last night was a nasty tuna-helper fettucini thing and corn. I did eat 3 big pieces of MIL's whole-wheat homemade bread, with country crock and honey, bad but GOOD!! No walking, too busy cleaning.
Scale still doesn't like me today, 387, hopefully its just the head cold making me retain or something. Think I'm gonna eat a Carl's Jr. Taco Salad for lunch, I have a $1 off coupon. Just need to make sure I don't eat the bowl, and don't supplement with any hockey pucks!!!
<Paul Harvey> Good Day!
:cool2:  :teleport:
Oh, cool, I got Disneymania 2 out of the library, They Might Be Giants doing Baroque Hoedown (Main Street Electrical Parade). Too Cool. I'm email the mp3 to anyone if you want.
:charac2: :rockband: :music: :disrocks:

Hi Don,

I just got caught up on your journal. I have been meaning to step in and see how you have been doing, I have just been so busy. Not a really good excuse, I know.

It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. Congrats on the no Dr. P. I know how hard it is. I gave up caffeine a while ago and oh boy....I don't really miss it now though.

How nice of you to take your wife out for the anniversay....I wish my DH would think of things like that!!! OH well I can't complain.

Well I Hope you have a happy, and healthy day as well as weekend. Keep up the good work :)

Jamie

Hi Jamie, thanks for stopping by. Best WISHes to you too.

Well, I better update with lunch before I go home. Probably won't get online much this weekend. OK, lunch was interesting, went to Carl's Jr., had the taco salad plus a grilled chicken club (the low-carb one with no bun, wrapped in lettuce). More quantity than I had planned on, but good. I had $1 off coupons for both, so it cost $6 plus tax. 1st time i've tried a no-bun sandwich from a restaurant, not bad, kinda sloppy. It was all good and low carb except the beans in the salad, more of them than I wanted, and less lettuce than I wanted. Won't be eating anymore of those. Didn't eat the tortilla bowl, that's a win, and just had water.
Got a little road trip coming in the morning, gonna pick up Andrew and some of the other scouts at the end of the 50 miler. No word from the guy on the satellite phone, so hoping all went well. I'm so proud of him for going, he's a super stud. Looks like about 3 hrs each way to get them, I'll have to skip my usually tankard of soda, just some good ole H20.
Have a good weekend everybody!!!
:yo-yo: :tilt: :drinking:

Hey Don! :wave2:

So, we're going to be in Walt Disney World at the same time, huh? That's awesome! :cool1: Christmas at WDW is amazing!! Plus, at that time, the crowds will be minimal. Where are you staying? We're staying at The Fountains (timeshare) and the Beach Club Villas (which I am soooo looking forward to!!!) during the second part of our vacation :teeth: I'm not sure about schedules yet... Some of my DH's family may be coming with us so I have Plan A (if they don't go) and Plan B (if they do go) setup. I'm just not sure which schedule we'll be using. I should probably come up with a Plan C too just in case. ;)

I know what you mean about scale frustration. ::yes:: I have been hovering around the same weight for about 6 months now. I finally figured out that although I thought I was making good choices and eating healthy foods, I was consuming too many calories each day. For example, we bought some potato salad at Sam's Club. The serving on the container said 1/2 cup. If I had eaten the serving I wanted to, I would have eaten about 3-4 cups of potato salad! I just never realized how small the servings sizes were. :(

Hang in there Don! Visualize how you will look when you meet the ::MickeyMo in December. You have already made great strides in the right direction! So, keep up the good work and the scale will cooperate!! ::yes::

Have a healthy and happy weekend! :sunny:

I might actually see you guys!!!!! I will either be decked out in lime green or in my cool tie-dye shirt I talked about in my journal!

December 7-13, here we come!!!!!!!!!!! We'll be staying at PoP!

Hey Don! Great job making some good choices at Carl Jr.'s! I hope that you had a nice drive picking up your son and friends from the hike. Did they have a good time? I hope so! 50 miles, wow!

Can I say how jealous I am that you are all going to WDW at the same time??!! hehe! I expect postcards and trip reports! hehe :earboy2:

HAve a good one!!
Mike

Ok, weird weekend diet/exercise-wise, but much fun. Friday night was spent preparing for the garbage, uh, i mean garage sale. Quick dinner of canned Nalley's stew with corn added, and celery sticks with southwest ranch dip. I skipped my usual piece(s) of bread with it, not bad, neg was the potatoes in the stew, not too many of them.
Saturday got up early, helped set up the sale, then took off for the Uintas. Filled up with gas, bought a couple of little bfast egg rollups and a 32oz lemonade. Settled on the lemonade as my road trip drink, non-carbonated and decaf, but high carbs, oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad i guess. Had a great drive, jammed to some rockin' tune. Even got thru most of disc 1 of my new book-on-cd, A Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. I read it several years ago, but its been long enough to be pretty fresh again, and the narration is top-notch! the 4th book in the series is finally coming out in November, gotta re-read the 1st 3 to be ready. On the way I drove past the Heber City airport and they were having an airshow. Just as I passed a shiny silver B-24 was landing, coming towards me. That was very cool! Arrived at the pickup location, 2 other vehicles were there for the pickup, and the 1st batch of maniac hikers were already there, seems they ran the whole last day. The rest trickled in over the next hour, until it was only Andrew and the scoutmaster that hadn't arrived. They had walkie-talkies and were communicating, so we weren't worried, but I was feeling bad for him. It was his 1st time, and he is a little heavy, big boy. They said he did ok, but was at the back of the pack all the time. I walked up the trail about 1/2 mile to meet him and the leader, he was just trudging along, very tired and dirty. I offered to take his pack in for him, he said no and just kept going. The GPS said they did 54 miles total!! He's pretty much recovered now, had 30 or 40 mosquito bites on his back from taking a nap, said the sweat kept washing off the repellant. So, we walked on down to the end, everyone cheered! Choked me up a little. One of the parents had brought a big pot of sloppy joe meat and nice white buns (dang). I should have just had some of the meat with a spoon but i went ahead and had one. Had a few chips and 2 cans of decaf soda. Bought a big stick of jerky on the way home. Got home and helped clean up the yard sale. It was fairly successful, 1st time we've ever done it. We immediately went and blew our wad on dinner, mostly to celebrate Andrew's accomplishments. Went to APPLEBEE'S :rotfl2: I had my Santa Fe Chicken Salad, my all time favorite salad. That would have been fine, but I was hungry and ate some of the kid's fries too. Water to drink. Then kids wanted ice cream on the way home, so add an ice cream cone to the day.
Sunday was also much fun, got the chance to sing Battle Hymn of the Republic twice in 2 different church services. This was the same arrangement that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings. My mom's side of the family is very musical, with my grandma, 1 aunt and 3 uncles having been members of the Tab Choir as its called, and a cousin in it now. I also had an uncle on my dad's side in it long ago, so the onus is upon me. It been one of my dreams to join it, but the biggest impediment has been my size. Previously the largest jacket size they had was a 48. I'm currently wearing a 60, or at least I was, haven't tried it on since I started losing. My cousin said 2 good things, she said the person that was the stickler for size is no longer with the Choir, and that the audition process is starting now! I'm debating whether to try and start now, or wait a year. I'm totally believing that I'm gonna lose lots of weight in the next year, and I would like to be much smaller if I get in. I've sat in the choir seats at both the Tabernacle and the new Conference Center here in SLC, and its a pretty tight fit. The audition process takes a few months, but Christmas trips to WDW are out for members of the Choir, its their busiest month! Hmmmmmm...
So, anyway, had a great time singing, and didn't eat anything until 3 pm, just wasn't convenient. Ate a big C-store burrito just to hold me off, then went to cousin's house for dinner at about 5:30. Good food, had roast beef, salad, veggies with dip, watermelon and cantelope chunks, but also had mashed potatoes and 2 dinner rolls. Good thing again was that we were done eating early, only thing I had from then on was a single pop-sicle ice cream thing later on last night. Got our butts up and out walking late, skipped too many days of that last week.
Maybe its because of not eating late, but scale like me today, said 380.5!! Had a bowl of cheerios with honey and 1% milk, and 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with country crock and honey, not a low carb bfast by any stretch. Will try harder the rest of the day. I'm thirsty, better fill up my watah!
Have a good day, ya'all!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: Its gonna be a hot one!

Hey Don!

Hope that you're staying cool on this hot hot day! sounds like you had a pretty busy and full weekend. At least one of us got to Applebee's this weekend! hehe Congrats on the scale movement, I am sure it will keep going down and by the time your Disney trip rolls around you will be slim enough to hid behind Mickey! The choir sounds like a great opportunity but I am too much of a Disney freak to advocate it if you need to make a choice! hehehe! Disney is way too amazing during the holidays to miss with the Osborne Family Lights (no not Ozzie's family!) and the Processional at Epcot, and all the Trees, and the Christmas party, and the... and the... and the... now I am all worked up! I need to get me to Disney in December of any up coming year! hehe

have a great day man!
Mike

Hi Don,

How are you doing on this fine day in July???? Keeping cool!

You didn't really do too bad this weekend. You made great choices at both Applebees and Carl's Jr. Congratulations on the weight loss. That is great!

Keep up the good work and have a great, cool, day!

Well, yesterday was OK, not perfect, but good. Had a cheese quesadilla with sour cream and salsa for lunch, and a peanut butter and honey sandwich on wheat later for a snack. Grilled steaks for dinner, with fresh corn-on-the-cob, salad and a strawberry jello salad my wife whipped up. Drank punch instead of water, bad. Not that good of punch, made a gallon of kool-aid with 1 packet of lemonade and 1 of strawberry, it wasn't very either. Got out and walked, went a short route with 2 of the kids, then dropped them off and went out again by myself with some Metallica - Justice poundin' on my head. Actually my little rca mp3 cd player and my sony in the ear headphones aren't powerful enough for that album, sounded better in my car on the way to work. Had a Carl's Jr Breakfast Burger this morning, had a $1 off coupon. Never had one before, probably won't again, but not bad. Could have done without the potatoes on it, and the bun of course.
Scale holding steady today, Thermometer thru the roof!! 89 right now at noon, supposed to top out at 98 later. I think I'll head out for lunch now while the gettin's good.
Stay cool you WISHin' fool!! :smooth: :cool2: :drinking: That's a water bottle, right? :teeth:

Oh, forgot my funny story, while grilling the steaks (they were yummy btw) i also grilled a big chicken breast with the intent of using it for my lunch salads. I didn't get it fully cooked the first time, so I put it back on the grill with just 1 burner on low, promptly forgot about it. 2 hours later I remembered it, it was rather well done. Peeled off the black and well done outside, the inside was still relatively edible. OOPS!! :rotfl:
