The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves! (my journal)

HI Don,

Here's some :wizard: on your WDW trip. Even just a week would be great!!!!

I agree, you need to count cleaning as exercise. You really did burn some good calories cleaning, on top of mowing the lawn!

Keep up the good work!!! And try and get some sleep tonight!

Hey Don,

Hope that you are having a great day! I just popped over to your trip thread. Sorry to hear about the difficulty with your trip. I hope that in the end you and your wife are able to make the decision that is best for all of you. And on a separate note, isn't nice to have some people all fired up about you?! :goodvibes Definitely a lot of strong emotion on that thread!

Oh and I definitely think you have won the battle over Dr. Pepper! Go you!   Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?? Heck no!!! :)

Keep up the good work and good things will come your way, no matter how big or small they are! :sunny:

Mike

Well, just checking in before going home for the weekend. This has been a bummer week, so hot, and work has been stressful, I've had to stay late last couple of days. When I get home late it messes everything up. I haven't had much in the way of sugary treats, but more carbs than I've wanted with each meal. Last night was BBQ grilled chicken breasts, I cooked them just right this time, yummeh!! Salad, small baked potato, some Pepperidge Farms stuffing (it was too dry), corn from the can. This morning was a Sonic bfast burrito and a sunshine smoothie (hey, it was Friday ok?), lunch was a salad with leftover chicken chopped up in it, excellent!! No idea what we'll do tonight with BIL and the boys. Haven't had pizza since I started the journal, I've been wanting to try getting a loaded one and just scraping off the toppings and eating them, with the sauce and cheese, leaving the crust behind. That's the way some of the kids eat it anyway!! Weatherbug is telling me its 102 again, this sucks!
Got to get some exercise in this weekend, I'm seriously behind on the challenge.
Scale has been very evil, climbing all week. Dang clippie is in jeopardy, hopefully that will turn around over the weekend.
Have a great weekend everyone, and don't get too much of Mr. :sunny:
:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

Hey Don!

You read my mind man! I was thinking of grabbing some pizza this weekend too. hehe! Great minds think alike! Instead of my old usual (aka at least a large just for me!) I will probably go to a place I know that does slices and get a slice to have with some chicken and salad one night. Of course will probably have to cut that down even as their individual slices are like small pizzas! hehe As far as the scale goes, you could be holding onto water because of the heat and any sodium in your food. Keep your water intake up, it will help flush out your fat and keep you properly hydrated! :goodvibes
I hope that you are able to find some relief from the heat this weekend, I do not envy you for being in it!

Take care of yourself and have a good one! pirate:

Hey Don!

Stopping by to say thank you for your encouragement in my journal and to WISH you a healthy and happy weekend. :goodvibes Be sure and drink plenty of water! :drinking:

Hey, don! Just popping in to say I hope you're having a good weekend and staying cool It's hot here in NM, too. YUCK!!!

Hi Don!
Just wanted to stop in and say hello! I am new to the WISH side of DIS and am trying to "meet" everyone. Hope you are having a great Sunday and you loaded up on your H2O this weekend!!

Good morning folks! Thanks for the good WISHes!

Hi Vee (lillygator)! thanks for stopping by. I don't know if I can stand another Gator fan around here, after ya'all stole our coach. Just kidding, we've still got a good one.

So, here's the Weekend Update (just imagine its Dennis Miller, my favorite WU anchor, SNL). BIL and boys showed up Friday night, and yes, we did have pizza, and no, I didn't scrape the crust. I did eat more wings and a little less pizza, wings = no carbs! especially the hot ones. Have to remember that next time the family wants pizza. I usually order Domino's, I drove for them for about 11 years total (I love reading delswife's driving stories), so I figure that about entitles me to the lifetime employee discount. I drove for a different store than the local one, and the manager here doesn't know I quit. Plus I've been thinking of re-upping in Sept or so to get DisMoney. Dom's wings are the best, family loves the BBQ, give me the heat please. I spent the whole night dumping my new Dis knowledge on the BIL, got him totally psyched to go. I thought DW had said that he was the one dragging his feet for the trip, due to no paid time off available, but he was totally "we gotta go, book that adjoining room for us NOW". Didn't get a chance to talk to the SIL, but she did say that she told DW that's she's not ready to give up yet. No worries, gonna make it happen.
Saturday cooked a big breakfast for the crew, french toast, bacon, sausage, and eggs. I did eat 2 pieces of whole wheat french toast with syrup, but then filled up with the rest. Ate too much, and too late, since we then had the family reunion in the park. I didn't eat too much at the reunion, it was too hot, who was the dork that scheduled a fam reunion in the park in july, 103 degrees!! Had a roast beef sandwich, no chips, much water. I did partake of several dessert items, but the good part was that we were pretty much done eating by 3, and then I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day! We kind of forgot about dinner and all went to the movies instead. The other SIL was there too, the wild biker one from colorado, with her daughter and grandson, along with a BIL and family that is local. We split up into 3 movies, so when I bought tickets for my family, it was 1 adult for Mr and Mrs Smith, 1 adult and 1 child for Fantastic 4, and 2 child for Wonka LOL!! I went to F4 with DD9 and a couple of cousins. Fun movie, could have been longer, critics are grumpy old cusses, I like fun summer popcorn movies. Hope they make a sequel. Then on the way home, crazy SIL biker chick's truck died. We we're up until 3 am trying to fix it and then towing it to my house, so everyone slept at my house that night, quite the crowd.
Sunday I was the only one who got up and ready for church, since I have to lead the music. Funny, we had a momentary power outage during one of the songs, organ quit for about 5 seconds but we all just kept singing anyway. Sundays are usually a late bfast, and then a big dinner at about 5. Had more french toast and sausage for bfast, then 1 slice of pizza after church to tide me over. Dinner was pot roast, mashed taters and gravy, bag salad, fresh cucumber slices, peach jello with mandarin oranges and kool-ade. I wasn't very good, I guess the only positive is that I didn't have that 2nd helping of taters I wanted, had a big salad instead. That would have been it for the night but DW made choc chip cookies, and I had to go to the store for eggs, so I bought ice cream too, bad bad boy. Ate probaby 3 or 4 cookies and a bowl of ice cream, but then we went walking to work it off. DW was the one who got us out, good job! A good hour walk, a little longer than our usual route.
We traded kids with the SIL, so my 2 DD are gone for the week, miss them already. We have the 2 older boy cousins, 14 and 11 yrs old. They went walking with us, the older one is a pretty good athlete, quite thin, he ran back and forth to the end of the block while we walked it.
Baked up my bfast casserole finally last night, 12 eggs, half-pound of bacon, mushrooms and cheese. I put it in a 9 in pan, a little too small, made it very thick and took a long time to bake, probably about 40 min., don't know for sure, I just kept sticking a knife in to see if it was done. Had that for bfast, with ketchup and hot sauce, not bad.
Scale is finally looking better, clippie out of danger, 15 clippie in sight. I really think the key for me is getting enough sleep, making good food choices and exercise! Gonna focus on those things this week.
:rockband: :music: :drinking: :cool1:

You had one busy weekend!!
I have to admit, I was pretty ticked when we got Urban...I mean that whole deal had to be in the works for some time seeing as our new University president was from the same school. and to op t off they wanted to "interview" Spurrier??!! But now I think Urban will do well - at least I hope so. The Gator Nation is definitely one of the more demanding out there. I also hope Spurrier takes SC to the top of the SEC...he's done it before. I think he is a fabulous college coach and hand it to him for trying in the NFL, maybe things would have been different if he was under different owners....

anyway!! Sounds like you have a great plan for the week and if you have tips on getting good sleep let me know...with a 2 year old who thinks she is going to miss something if she shuts her eyes - I am pretty tired!!

Hi Don!

I think you are doing great making better choices. You bypassed the potatoes for a salad, that was awesome! And even though you had ice cream and cookies, you recognized that and made sure you exercised more to counteract the effects! Keep it up, you are really doing good on your 5 for July challenge! Way to go!!!   :cheer2:

Sounds like you had a very busy weekend. All in all, I think you did pretty good. Like lovinaz said, you recongnized the cookies and ice cream and you walked a little longer to make it go away! Good for you.

How is today going?

Have a a great one!

Hey, you know - a treat once in a while is well worth and can help you stay on track. Last night we went and got some frozen custard at the local place. I didn't have my usual - just stuck with a scoop of vanilla without the cone and I had been dying for some - so that tided me over for now!!!!

Hang in there and keep on
Chris

Hey Don,

Sounds like a good weekend to me! I really liked the F4 myself too, critics need jobs! LOL
You said:
"I guess the only positive is that I didn't have that 2nd helping of taters I wanted, had a big salad instead."

That is awesome! Lifestyle changes like that will be your weapons in the long run. And it sounds like you know what you need to do to keep em up. That is excellent!

Hope that you have a great Monday night!!
Mike :cool1:

Hey Don!

Guess what I heard during my workout on Saturday? Metallica!!! :dancer: Woohoo! I can't remember the name of the song, but part of it is "off to Never, Neverland." (I think!) Anyhow, the song rocks and helped me to get the rest of my jog in. :faint:

I agree with Mike: You did have a good weekend and choices like only having one helping of potatoes are a good start to a lifetime of change. Way to go Don!!!! :cool1:

Hope you have a happy and healthy day today! :sunny:

Thanks V, Chris, Jamie, Amy, Mike, Tracy, wow, its tough keeping up with all your responses!! Too awesome!!!

V, i've found that rocking them to sleep is quite effective. You get a nice big rock... JUST KIDDING!!! :earseek: Hey, Urban's a great guy, we were all totally shocked when he picked the gators over the irish, he had always said that ND was his dream job, but it seems the current admin up there was not to his liking. Some here felt betrayed that he would leave, but we should have seen it coming. I for one was just very happy for the time he spent here. Our previous coach, Ron McBride had taken our program to a much higher level than previous, but Urban really pushed us over the hump, what an awesome 2 year stretch with him. We're in good hands now, Kyle Whittingham, our Def. coordinator for the last 12 years, is the new head coach. His defenses have been awesome, we're all still very excited for the future. I'm pretty confident that Urban will take the Gators to the NC or near. Don't make the Wyoming Cowboys look too bad, they're supposed to be pretty good this year, but I imagine the Gators will pulverize them. Not a good look for the mountain west conf. Ha, talking college football on the Disney WISH board with a bunch of women!!! ROFL

L: 4 hot wings, a chunk of roast, some mashed taters with the last of the gravy (had to use it up) and some wheat thins with smokey cheddar spread. Drinking lots of water. I did have a semi-weak moment last night, almost bought a can of shasta cola from the 25 cent machine outside the grocery store, had a cream soda instead. Wasn't that good I was just thirsty. Forgot to drink my water 1st, or I wouldn't even have been tempted. Don't know what we'll end up eating tonight, its DW's night off, and with the cousins here we might end up going out, or maybe just grill some burgers. Just going to focus on my keys, eat early (and often, LOL) and get some exercise. We GOTTA get on the weights.

Enter Sandman! excellent tune! Hmm, may have to add that to my next cd-r. :teeth: :rockband: :music:

Hi, Don! I am a little late in welcoming you to WISH but an infant makes it difficult to get to journals as much as I used to...so anyway WELCOME! I have enjoyed reading what you post! You have a great sense of humor! You are doing great so far and I look forward to reading more of your journal!

Hi Don - That is OK about the soda slip-up. And you even admitted it didn't taste that good, so your body is used to not having it anymore. And it was just one can, not a big 32 oz Dr Pepper, right?

I was going to ask how your breakfast casserole was? And may I suggest trying Egg Beaters the next time you make one? I can't tell the difference when I use Egg Beaters in dishes like that and it saves SO many calories and fat!

Keep walking and drinking your water! You're doing great on all your challenges. :cool1:

hey Don!!

Sounds like what you described as a semi-weak moment was really a moment of STRENGTH!!! You did not get the cola!! Definitely do not beat yourself up about it! I am proud of ya!

have a great day and get your water in!! I am working on my first 32oz here!
Mike :cool1:

Morning, Don! Cream Soda is NOT Cola and you WON!!! This is not a slip up, it's a victory. You met the cola head on and you left it sitting where it was. (Good thing it wasn't a DP???)

You're doing great and I LOVE reading your posts!

Have a great Tuesday!
