The Bahamian Rum Runners! May 18, 2012 - 5 Nights on the Magic!

For those of you who have cruised with Disney before, how dressy do the majority get for pirate night? I wanted to dress up with my daughter but I don't want to be the only one doing it! pirate:

As you can see from our signature photo below, we don't go ALL OUT, but we get close. We've seen some wonderful costumes on board. Dinner is great on Pirate Night and the party is wonderful. DD9 has never seen the Magic party (opted to stay at kids club). She has seen the Dream party so we are all looking forward to dressing up and doing it right. Even DD19 does some dressing up. I'm very proud that she hasn't grown up so much that she doesn't enjoy wearing Goofy pirate ears at Disney. She calls me at work and quotes the lines from the Pirates of the Carribean.

Those participating with FE will be getting their gifts from us before Pirate Night as I am going mostly Pirate themed. Pirate Rum and all! After all, we are the Pittsburgh Pirates. pirate:

i've been sooo tempted to call and set up our rotation as to what i *think* i would want.. but i'm torn since this is our first time and it will probably be all wrong once i get there (my idea of how/what it will be)

i'm also considering doing the discover atlantis excursion.. although i'm wondering if it would be cheaper to do on our own, or if the aquarium is even worth it, so if you've been to that, let me know what you thought of it :surfweb:

also, do you guys (ones who have been before) usually make a dummy ressie onboard? i've been trying to figure out everything about that, but it's kinda confusing.. or maybe i've just read too many threads and they are all running together lol :earboy2:

we're getting so excited that it's getting closer!! :boat:

We are doing the discover Atlantis too. I had a friend that went to the aquarium and said she spent 3-4 hours going through it. But we don't have any aquariums in Montana :rotfl2:

I know what you mean! We went to the "state's largest aquarium" here in Arkansas, took MAYBE 20-30 minutes tops! :lmao:

as of right now we will be doing Palo on Pirate night unless I can change it to our at sea night. I booked it early so we don't miss out on the activities though.

On our cruise last year we made two reservations, for for this cruise (though we later changed when the first date didn't work out) and a "dummy" that we've moved once already and will probably move into 2013. I'm not sure if we'll make another dummy reservation on this cruise or not.

For those booking their own hop-on/hop-off trolley tour in Key West, which company are you using and do you have to pre book online or just do it when you arrive in Key West?
Thanks!

You must be staying up late and booking like I am. ;)

We thought about doing the trolley ourselves too but decided on an electric car instead. It sounded like a lot of fun. I hope we don't have a hard time finding places to park - but even if we do - just driving it around will be a blast.

Yep, I was. Good thing I could sleep in a Saturday.

Sounds like fun!

Just finished online check in - went perfectly. Got a port arrival time of 11:00-11:30.

Now somehow I need to unwind so I can go to sleep. Tomorrow we are off to renew our youngest DDs passport.

That's what time we got. We really won't need it though, because we are staying at the Hyatt the night before and will be on the first Disney bus to the port.

I did the excursions last night before bed and the online check in this morning. For some reason at 1:00 AM, I could book excursions and my spa stuff but not my online.

No matter, I'm headed to work AGAIN and the Online booking is done.

I also booked the transportation.

Again, if anyone is staying near OLD KEY WEST and wants to ride/share with (DIS SPONSER) FL TOURS, we'd be willing to share ride with cost. Its less expensive than DCL Transport *and* we get to arrive at the terminal when we want.

When we used DCL transfers from Beach Club, we didn't arrive on the ship until 2:30. They were closing Cabana's while we were starving and waiting for something to eat. We're trying this out.

We would be happy sharing a van with others! We are doing OLD KEY WEST before the ship and ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE - KIDANI after the ship.

I'm not sure why they let you book excursions, Palo etc. at 12 am EST, but then make you wait until 3 am EST to do the online check in.

We plan to book it before we go. Here is the website of the one we plan on using. http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/
We may also check out the shipwreak and Truman's White House. Do you think we will have enough time? We plan to skip our dinner that night and just order room service once back on board.

Thanks for the link for the trolley tour in Key West. In Nassau, we also plan to explore on our own and check out the aquarium. DD will love that!

We have been to Key West once before (on another DCL cruise) and we had time to do quite a bit. We did the aquarium there--not very impressive and very small in our opinion :-/ We ate lunch at Hog's Breath and enjoyed one of their locally made beers, Mmmm! We went to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville for a daquiri. We also made it to the southern most point for pics. We could have done alot more but we spent alot of time just walking around and checking out the town. Key West is a great place!!!

Happy Sunday Everyone!
We are getting so close to our cruise date it is exciting.. I am slowly picking up a few odds and ends for our exchange. I know that we don't have all of the participants but I figure that I can pick up a little more later when needed. I am hoping when I am on break from college that I can construct my actual fish extender.... it is not going to be pretty but hopefully will do the job!
I am all checked in with an 11am check in at the Port yayyyyy:goodvibes! And starting to plan our 19hour road trip to Cocoa Beach..oh boy!
Just wanted to say hello and that I cannot wait for our cruise!!
Kristin

Im going to steal your magnets!

Haha I was thinking the same thing, we're not alone! I know it's early, I'm sure more people will show up in a couple of months.

I'm a huge dorky crafty kinda person, as I said we just got married at WDW, and I made the save-the-dates, invites, the bridesmaids' bouquets, ceremony decor, and so on. So I'm really excited about decorating my door and REALLY hope someone shows up that's willing to organize a FE exchange! My poor hubby just goes along with it. I already have prob 5 magnets in the works for our room and my in-laws' room too.

Have you read about any of that yet? Plan on doing anything or seen any cute clip art? Talk to you soon Trina (if that's your real name)! P.S. my real name is Kristin! :sail:

Hey all! Here's the updated list as of today. I'll keep posting this every time I make a few changes, so I don't clog up the whole thread. Remember the cutoff day is *APRIL 1* and if you see any incomplete information or need me to change anything, PM me!

:beach:

Excellent job! Thanks for taking care of our group.

Its not critical but we are also DVC. And, we'll be celebrating Jenn's birthday (from April).
