****The April 2015 thread**** come check in and chat!

We leave in a week! It's my second trip to Disneyland. I went with my family 17 years ago for a few hours (my brother is a big stick in the mud and wanted to leave after four hours). Now I am going with my husband and kids for their first trip. We are spending the mornings and early afternoon at the Star Wars convention and Disney after that. I can't wait to spend this time with them!

We're 2 weeks out - too early to start packing??? I desperately want to pull out my suitcase! Our youngest has croup at the moment, so I need something to get me through the rough nights of sleep haha.

Its never too early to back assuming you dont need the things you pack. I like to pack in advance for trips because I dont feel rush and can change my mind a few times for its time to go. Our trip isnt until the end of the month and I pulled out the suitcases on sunday, i will probably start adding stuff this weekend. Where we live its not spring/summer weather so i wont need anything I pack which makes it nice.

Anyone else disappointed in the change in operating hours at the end of the month? DL will be closing at 7:30pm on two of our nights there and DCA will close at 8pm on one of the nights there. I wish they would change the opening time to earlier (they open at 9 or 10am those days) to accommodate the earlier closure but I doubt that will happen

It is SO NOT TOO EARLY! Our trip is still a secret so I'm dying to pack... I have actually started gathering everything except clothes, and even some of those things too, like swim suits.

I am leaving on the 17th to head down and this morning started to put a couple of things in my sons suitcase. It is never to early. I am sorry your youngest is sick hopefully he starts to feel better.

I was a little disappointed at first but then I looked at the times posted a couple weeks ago to the new times for that week

Before they changed those two days to close early at 7:30 the schedule was as follows:
Mon: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)
Tue: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)
Wed: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)
Thu: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)

After the change:

Mon: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)
Tue: 9am-7:30pm (D) Extra hour in the morning
10am-9pm (DCA) Extra hours in the evening
Wed: 10am-9pm (D)
10am-8pm (DCA)
Thu: 9am-7:30pm (D) Extra hours in the morning
10am-9pm (DCA) Extra hour in the evening

At least it looks liek they tried to make up for the early closing somewhere

Ahhh I don't know how you do it! My oldest is 3.5 and I couldn't even wait to tell him!!!

Honestly, it stinks. Last trip my hubby wanted to surprise them but he compromised and we told them 2 months in advance. This trip my hubby said he REALLY wanted to surprise them the day-of so I compromised. :love2: Hopefully the surprise will come off well and it will all be worth it!

I actually think it's WONDERFUL if you can pull it off. When I was little my best friend had one of those day of surprises and it was SO cool to hear all about. I'm just too darn excited to keep it to myself haha.

It is so hard to keep that surprise! I was really trying to wait until the day of but I totally caved and told my oldest last week we were leaving for her birthday on the 18th :flower: I told my youngest 2 weeks before that!! :rotfl2:
Oh well! I feel good about it though because she chose Blue Bayou for her mom/daughter dinner :cheer2:

Sounds like a good choice to me!! Love Blue Bayou!

Just completed nine of my 11 workdays in a row. Two more and we go. I have packed my suitcase but I think I overpacked so I am going to reevaluate tonight and take some stuff out. I hope everyone who is there now is having a wonderful trip!

It will be totally worth it. It's just a tad bit hard at the moment! :rotfl2:
I hope we get a good reaction! This is only our second trip as a family. Last trip was 4 years ago.

I was looking at the monthly forecast and it looks like they are predicting a bit of rain right now the last week of April. Has anyone been to Disney when it's been cloudy or rainy? Do they close a lot of rides? If the weather is in low 70's high 60's is it too cold to swim?

I am dying over here guys! I busted out the disney cd's to start getting into the groove. The hubs just put it on the cinderella "a dream is a wish" Song. I know from watching youtube that this is used in fireworks show. He doesn't want to watch or know anything. So I am sitting here smirking cause I know.

We just got our Costco package today so we're 3 weeks out. A little disappointed in the hours at the end of the month especially since we're doing character dining at 0730 on Tuesday our first day. Regardless we will have fun. Kids still have no clue so that's good

Nine days to go! :tigger:While the kids were at school yesterday, I hit the Disney store and loaded up on shirts and swimsuits and autograph books. We told them about the trip a couple weeks ago, so I need some kind of surprise for this trip! Kids don't get presents outside of birthdays and Christmas, so this will be fun for them. I'm thinking of ideas for a scavenger hunt once we get to the Hojo. Any suggestions?

Where did you find weather predictions for the last week of april, the most i can find is 14 days out.
