~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

Now, I didn't see it that way at all. Rather, it's likely their life experience has proved to them that they're more likely to get help from other black people than from white people.

It caught me off guard considering they were attorneys.

Had it been inner city LA and a white team made the same comment regarding a car with white people--it would have come across the same way...a moment of "Did they just say what I think they said".

Seriously? Feel free to make fun of Jordan mixing up China and Chile. It's pretty funny. It was also funny on Big Brother when Jeff had to explain the clock to Jordan. Jordan would probably laugh at it herself.

I am not talking about me--many people have defended Jordan's error while at the same time enjoying the humor of the brother's mockery.

Sure we can all laugh. It's the "but it's okay here" but "not here" mentality that kind of makes me scratch my head.

Firedancer, it was not the editing with Jordan. She is a brick short of a load, but she is funny.

Tinkerbell, that was the funniest part of the show to us when they started painting the inside of the house. :rotfl:
Nah - even funnier was when they finished painting, only to learn there was no clue! :rotfl2:

I thought this was a great opening show. I love the brothers. The impression of Caite was spot on and funny. I hope he does his impression of her to her face. Yeah, she's heard it before, but if you can't laugh at yourself...

The cowboys changing their money into Brazilian currency when they weren't going to Brazil was funny as heck. "Oh, you don't take this money here?" when they were getting on the bus. Too funny.

I don't watch Big Brother so I didn't know Jordan before. She was a hoot not remembering where they were going when she got to the airport. I bet she could have gotten an earlier plane to China. :rotfl2:

The prima donna lesbians are pretty funny. They have a great attitude about making it through the challenges.

At this point, I think the season will be good. I like everyone so far and the cast of characters seems well done.

Seriously, trying to make my way through this thread, but has anyone commented on this...We just watched today on the internet because we FORGOT yesterday.

The father/daughter team who painted the inside of the house...Did they ever complete the challenge the right way? Why didn't they get a penalty? It never showed how they got their clue or anything. What happened?

We watched the Intenet so maybe we missed something.

I think if the first show had been the two hours as have been previous premier episodes, we would have seen more of the painting task. But, becuase CBS kept to an hour, they had to cram too much in.

I guess I'm the only one who thought the brothers making fun of the Teen USA was hilarious...she deserved it...she was a complete airhead at that competition, and she put herself back out there, in the public eye, so of course, CBS is going to use it.

Seems like it will be a good season...still don't understand what I posted before about the father/daughter team not getting a penalty.

I hope you are never in a situation where you do or say something you regret and have to put up with people throwing it back in your face forever. People make mistakes. They are only human.

I cannot believe how people can think that those of us defending Jordan and Caite are being too serious and have no sense of humor. We do, we just don't find humor at other people's expense.

And I hope she thanked Jeff very well for that win. :goodvibes I hope he can get them both to the end again.

I'm sure she did because he was certainly part of her strategy to get there. But that is another thread isn't it.

Now that confused me when Caite said that they were "technically second"??? Ummm, no Caite, you were not second at all. You did not read the instructions, you will have a penalty of 30 minutes, so when the 30 minutes are up, you will come to the MAT and then that is what place you are in. :headache:

So Caite, you came in 7th. ::yes::

I know. I saw that too and thought that no matter what order she hopped on the mat.....she was still 7th place ;)

I think if you had watch them all summer and getting to know their personalities and watching them flirt and develop a relationship, you would see what we all see!

I have never seen BB so everyone here is new to me...except the teen queen. I did feel badly for her, she had her mishap broadcast all over the world and is probably going to hear that soundbite for years to come. I
do think she is sweet though and took all of the ribbing with good grace.

I expected to hate Caite but after the first episode it is clear to me that she is not as dumb as that infamous sound bite made her appear.

Watched Elimination Station to see how the first couple eliminated was reacting to being the first team off AR. They are handling it well though the wife won't let the husband kiss her. He said that when she does, he will know he is forgiven and would keep us posted. :rotfl:

That Elimination Station is a pretty nice place! I wouldn't mind a nice getaway there for a couple weeks.

All these people are putting themselves out there on a reality TV show. I'm sure they are well aware going in that they may or may not get a favorable edit, that people will be watching, and that there are plenty of blogs and message boards where folks will comment on anything and everything that happens. Yes?

I'm not a Big Brother watcher, so I haven't formed much of an opinion on Jeff and Jordan yet, but this is the 2nd reality TV appearance for both of them, so I have to assume they don't mind being in the public eye.

As far as Caite goes, I just did a quick google search... someone already mentioned her appearance on King of the Crown, let's add GMA, Tosh.O, a TV commercial, Weezer's Pork and Beans, and an MTV Awards appearance; all directly relating to her pageant answer. I would guess that answer also had a whole lot to do with her signing with Trump modeling, not to mention being on Amazing Race.

So it's not like she has been sitting home, hoping people would forget her little pageant moment. It seems to me that Caite is actually a pretty smart cookie who has capitalized on that answer quite well. But I also think that makes it fair game for folks to comment on.

Sometimes I wonder if I should DVR the whole series, then have one marathon TAR watching day, so I don't have to wait a week between episodes. Do you think that would be overkill? Can't wait until next week!

That is what I did with AR 14. I never watched it but I was at someone's house for an episode and thought I would like it. I found someone who was nice enough to share the season online so I downloaded it and watched it.

They made a mistake and would have arrived earlier without the mistake.

Yes they came in 7th--but they were not the only team to err and they aren't teh first team in history to oops the clue.

Now that is not necessarily true. Having read the clue properly and knowing they needed to take the funicular down the mountain instead of walking...who knows, they may have had trouble finding it, etc, whatever... and fulfilling all the requirements of the challenge does not mean they would have arrived #2 at all.

As far as the brothers go and getting their penalty for losing the paintbrush, they, unlike Caite/Brent, did not say that they technically came in at any place at all. They just took their place on the bench and waited out the 15 min penalty.

ITA w/you, that past TAR contestants have misread the clues or just skipped over the clues and were given penalties...but Caite was the FIRST one I heard refer to her arrival "technically" at a totally different time that it really was...........:headache:

Now, I didn't see it that way at all. Rather, it's likely their life experience has proved to them that they're more likely to get help from other black people than from white people..

So if I were to say that I'd rather ask white people a question rather than black(or any other race) because I'd be more likely to get help from the white people, that doesn't sound at all racist to you?:confused3

If they aren't check-in as second then they aren't second, plain and simple. The point of the challenges is to read and follow the clues as described or they aren't playing the game correctly. The boys knew about the penalty before they arrived to the mat. I guess some people doesn't like to acknowledge any wrong doing.

I wonder where would the go next ;)

I thought it was funny too. In fact, I am shocked that so many took offense to it here. I don't think he called her stupid. He was only doing his impression of her answering the question. The actual clip of her on YouTube has about 40 million views. It's what she is famous for.:confused3

Here is the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww

I think that's why she's in TAR, because she became famous nor for being in the pageant, but for that comment.

oh my god - did i miss it??? did it start already?
