The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

I'm sure luck has a little to do with it, but personally, I'd help out someone who took the time to start up a conversation with me and bothered to learn my name (R & A) before some nut yelling out "3 naked men at [sorry - can't remember the name] station!" in the middle of the train (R & K). Rob knows how to work people, and that is good racing to me.

As for the luckiest people in the race - that honor has got to go to Meredith and Gretchen. If it weren't for other teams' generosity and/or mistakes, they'd have been gone long ago. I'm impressed they made it as far as they did, but good racers they are not.

I think Rob and Amber have gotten by on more than luck. Yes, they've had people help them who recognized them from Survivor (Rob admitted as much in narration in the first episode, I think). Still, they've played the game smart (albeit quite sneaky at times) and they've worked as a team much more than many of the other teams have.

If Rob and Amber have argued with each other the way Ron and Kelly or Ray and Deana have, they might not have made it this far. R & K argue, but they seem to pull it together for the challenges. Same with Uchenna and Joyce -- if they've argued the way Ray and Deana did, we haven't seen it. They work as a team, and that helped them get this far.

Kelly borrowing someone's lipstick was just icky! :earseek:

I liked Gretchen & Meredith, and was hoping they'd at least be in the top 3. I have to agree with those that said Gretchen's voice was like nails on a chalkboard, though.

I'm rooting for Uchenna & Joyce all the way!!!

Well, count me in as one who is happy to see G & M gone.
HOWEVER.
Even though her voice annoyed me and they did ride coat-tails often (when it came to flights)...they really never gave up. They did play a great race. And I think it was really nice of Merideth to give Ron/Kelly some money last night...without them even asking. Good Karma - R/K helped them in the past...G/M repaid the favor...very nice.

Rob/Amber...grrr...I dont' want them to win...but they are playing a damn good race.

oh - and look - they came in first and won something...again!

I'm so rooting for Uchenna and Joyce...they were powerhouses in that detour with the boats...

can't wait for next week!

You've GOT to be kidding! I don't even know why they're on the show. I mean, Amber already has a $1M in the bank..isn't that enough? I don't understand why CBS put them on this season.

I'm rooting for Uchenna and Joyce to win. They are the coolest team left and seem like genuine people.

Dude.. seriously. This way of thinking goes against just about every game and contest out there.

The Yankees aren't held back from winning more than one World Series
The Patriots aren't held back from winning more than one Superbowl
Singers aren't held back from winning more than one Grammy
Actors aren't held back from winning more than one Oscar
Actors aren't held back from winning both a Golden Globe and an Oscar.

This is a completely different competition. They are not playing Survivor again. They are playing Amazing Race, and whether you want to admit it or not, they are doing a heck of a job. They are probably the smartest players this game has ever seen and have raised the bar for the next set of racers in the next season.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rob might be snarky to the other racers and might lie and be sneaky (and that is the ONLY way you will win any reality contest like this) - but he is the ONLY man on there that has not lost his temper with his partner, he consistantly treats the locals with respect and even when he does screw up, he doesn't go yelling at others, he kicks himself and turns around and ups his game. Like him or not.. he's an awesome competitor.

Well said!

I agree with whoever said they had a cruch on Uchenna--he just seems like a really great guy, very kind and supportive. Ron could take lessons (for his next girlfriend).
:rotfl:
I think rob and amber are so cute, but i want uchena and joyce to win. and yes gretchens voice was annoying but they have a great marriage and i think they did an awesome job staying in the race that long.

I got a little teary eyed when G/M got eliminated. He said such nice things about her. I think they did great hanging in so long - I was worried about M having a heart attack or something a couple of times during those physical competitions!

Kelly really is a spoiled miss priss. The lipstick was disgusting. Her little bratty remarks are wearing.

I would like to see U/J win!

Disagree!
Lying & being sneaky is not the only way to win a reality contest. Look at Chip & Kim a few seasons back. I don't recall them EVER being sneaky like Snob...I mean, Rob has!!!

No I do not think he is an awesome competitor. He is a sneak & the ONLY way he can win the game is being sneaky! Yeah, he knows how to play the game to win (being sneaky) but I don't think he is all the good of a racer, certainly not the best team Amazing Race has ever had.

did you see the previews for next week?

who brings up the "are you going to commit to me or not" conversation when you are ON YOUR WAY to the finish line? (she was crying her eyes out in the preview babbling about commitment) Looks to me that Ron and Kelly might just self-destruct right before the finish line.

I don't really care who wins, I like Uchenna & Joyce and Rob & Amber, I just want Ron & Kelly to lose. I can't stand either of them.

The spoiler mentioned a few posts back that says (highlight to read)someone on team Romber breaks their ankle can't be true. You know they would have shown a preview if there was going to be an injury....they always have in the past.

I disagree with this because Chip and Kim would not be able to win the race now with the rule changes. Yes, they played the game admirably, but Chip did everything at the roadblocks/detours. Now each team member has to do 6 of the roadblocks. I doubt that Chip and Kim would have won if Kim had to pull her own weight. Unfortunately, it takes more than being nice to win the race now. It takes skill, strategy, competitiveness, and some luck. I think Rob and Amber represent the new breed of racers, like it or not.......

Yes, but did you see the part of the preview where Rob was carrying Amber? Maybe that's why....

Are you the one that is kidding? Do you truly believe that the check she got from Survivor was a full million dollars? They do take out the federal portion of taxes before they even get the check, so the check she received was probably around $700,000. Far from being a millionaire. AND, on top of that, she would have to pay state taxes on that $700,000. Unless PA does not have a State Tax program. Anyone who wins a gameshow for a million dollars is not an instant millionaire. What makes a person a millionaire is what they decide to do with the money, and the exposure they got from being on the show. Rob and Amber are smart. Not only did they win Survivor, but they knew EXACTLY how to cash in on their own personalities.

All this gripe about how not fair it is that they are on another game show for a million dollars, but would it be any different if some TV producer created a sitcom featuring them, and it became a Friends-type hit? They would become millionaires THEN. Would you have a problem with that? If so, why? Because they have a natural talent in front a camera? Isn't that what acting is all about? So, they did not struggle for years waiting for their big break. They got lucky. They applied to be on a game show, and cashed in their fame. Rob and Amber are a producer's DREAM. They are good looking, cause much drama, and people watch them whether they like them or not.

Think about this.. Say you don't like Rob and Amber. Say you despise them. I am willing to bet, that no matter how much you dislike them, that you will watch at least SOME of their televised wedding. If only out of curiosity. You may not watch the whole program, but I am going to say a whole bunch of Romber-haters will be tuning in to watch the wedding.

This is what makes Rob and Amber different from all other past Survivor's, Big Brother guest, ect. I hated Rob on Survivor. The TWO Survivor's he was on. Could not stand him. I love him in this race.

If Rob had a nicer personality, I don't think we would hear as much griping about how unfair it was that they get to do more than one game show. Look at Colby. He is making a good career post-Survivor. He has commercials, and he has been on numerous sitcoms as a guest. We may soon see him in a breakout role. If it were Colby and his mom on the Amazing Race, would you all feel the same way?

I am off my soap box. I hope Rob and Amber win. I find myself rooting for them to be 1st every week.

Saw that...the spoiler could be very true.

I think Rob and Amber really deserve to win this year. They have been totally awesome in this race. I'm rooting for them for 1st place, and Uchenna & Joyce for 2nd place and Ron & Kelly for 3rd.

Regardless of which team does win, I have so enjoyed this particular season and a lot of that has been due to Rob and Amber.

I can promise you I will NOT watch their "fairy tale" wedding! I think I am busy that night....yeah, I think I will be cleaning out the cat box instead! ;)

The ONLY reason why I am watching them now is because they are on one of my favorite shows & I can not wait until next season when they are GONE!!!!!
