The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

What I loved about last night's episode is that the tasks relyed on things besides just physical strength and the fact the the order of the teams switched around alot so the whole thing wasn't predictable. :cheer2:

I'm having a good time watching Rob and Amber. They're using their brains to get ahead, nothing wrong with that--it's not like their tripping little old ladies or robbing people at knifepoint. And as far as having their little "in group" goes: first, I don't think it worked, they seemed to all end up on the same bus, plus the other people were wise to the bribe to the security guard not to tell other people. Second, eventually someone in that group will turn on another team. Which is fine, all's fair, etc. But if someone turns on R&A, they'd better knock them off the first time, because you KNOW Rob will return fire, guns blazing. So, it'll continue to be interesting.

The older couple--maybe it's just the wife's inflection that makes her sound like a constant whine? And the gay guys grate on me--perhaps they'll grow with time. I liked the shoe shine roadblock--just nice to have something different.

I was not a fan of Rob on Survivor (I wanted Rupert to win) but I have to say I LOVE him on The Amazing Race.
I thought he rocked last night-from speaking spanish to loading the books correctly.
I am surprised that no one has thought of bribery in the past 6 season of Amazing Race-brilliant!
After he winked at the camera I have to admit I now have a crush on him. I guess I like those "bad boys"!!

Go Romber!

Wow, I think people are losing sight of one thing, this is a GAME! Maybe a lot of posters haven't watched the previous Amazing Races (I have watched every one) but Rob and Amber have not even come CLOSE to being as sneaky and backstabbing and sleaziness of past teams. Team Guido and Will and Tara especially come to mind.

Another thing that makes me curious is why people like Ron and Kelly so much? They haven't done anything even remotely impressive this race so why are they favorites? Is it because he was a POW? I respect him for that as a PERSON, but they haven't really done much to make me respect them as CONTESTANTS on the race yet.

I wonder if the race is moving away from allowing the teams to book their own airline tickets on this race. They keep giving them their tickets. That was always my favorite part, seeing them try to figure out ways to beat other teams at the airports.

Way to go Rob and Amber. I thought it was hilarious when they bribed the bus driver to open the door (and used the others money). That was classic!I have seen teams pay off taxi drivers to not take other teams, so how was this different. I think Rob and Amber have run a smart race so far and I enjoy them. I hope they stay in to the end, not sure if I want them to win yet, but they are fun to keep in the game.

Meredith and Gretchen are just plain annoying, as are the gay guys. I can't wait for them to go. I think the mom/son team were a bit cocky last week, and they were brought down to reality this week. I don't have much of an opinion on the other teams yet.

Finally, I find it a bit odd that all the teams are finding their surrounding "so beautiful" and are taking the time to "enjoy" their surroundings. Except for a few teams, they have never shown this in the past. I think either that was just editing in past races or that teams are trying to make themselves look much more positive than in the past. I know CBS has gotten a lot of flack about the AR portraying Americans as horrible, ungrateful tourists, so that may be part of it. But, being cynical like I am, it just seems like most of the teams are purposely hamming it up for the camera.

We're cheering for Rob and Amber! We loved Rob on Survivor and I love them on the race! Rob is being Rob...smart and sneaky. :teeth: I couldn't believe that there was still 25 minutes left to the show when they checked in at the pit stop! Wow! I wonder how far ahead of the other teams they realy were....or if it was just a lot of editing that made it look like they were there so much earlier.

I really hope Rob & Amber win! I think that they are actually using their heads for the game. This is a game/race for $1 million dollars. If I was on it, I would be doing what I could to win - not make friends!!! I'm sure they will end up getting the hourglass delay (can't remember the official name) if anyone ever passes them. But I think they have one of the best chances of winning since they know how to work together very well.

I f Rob & Amber don't win, I wouldn't mind if Uchenna & Joyce or Ron & Kelly would win.

I love Rob & Amber too!! They are truly running a great race - they are really thinking. They didn't shop because they didn't have enough money. Why didn't the mother & son think of that after they didn't have enough fot the ride?

I don't know why some people don't want Rob & Amber to win just because they won before. Hey if you play the best you deserve it.I must admit I loved that wink at the camera too. He is cute!!

I really have enjoyed both episodes of this AR because there is no one that comes close to grating my nerves they way a certain person or two did last season. ;) With that said I do hope the mom and son team depart the race soon. I don't know exactly what it is about them but I don't like them.

I think my favorite teams are Rob and Amber...I love how they are playing the game and enjoying every minute of it. They are smart about how they approach everything and they are very entertaining to watch. Next, the brothers. I think they seem pretty genuine and they, too, were pretty entertaining at the shoe shine challenge. I hope they move up a bunch next week. Lastly, I would pick Kelly and Ron. Actually I'm still waiting to get a good feel for what Kelly is really like but Ron seems like a real sweetie.

Can't wait for next week!!

Oh man.. I totally agree! Gretchen is driving me batty! I'd like to see the mom/son team make it though. I haven't quite formed an opinion on the other teams yet. But I am enjoying watching the gay guys! They are a hoot!

They also had a great line about bringing up the rear. I wish I could remember exactly what they said.

I have been trying to remember this too and I think you got it, I think they said something like "here we are again always bringing up the rear" heeh heh and kinda smirked, it looked like he was in the middle of saying it and then realized the hidden meaning...LOL

Romber was pretty annoying on Survivor, but I am loving them on AR. He knows how to play the game and he plays it well. Plus they just appear to be having a great time. I hope the stick around a long time.
I also love the gay guys, although I think they are camping it up a bit for the cameras. They do have some of the best one-liners. I loved when they pranced out of the market and called everyone '*****es', and when they told Rob 'be glad you cant get voted off' :rotfl:

Rob is a rather smart guy all around! He is street smarts and wow can he communicate with the locals - his Spanish is pretty good. I hope they win but it will be interesting to see how they handle things when they head east to Asia and Europe.

GO AMBER AND ROB!!

"FIX YOUR HAIR!! FLATTEN IT DOWN".. man Gretchen can scream, and here she is telling poor Merideth to do some personal grooming 20 feet from the pit stop? Sheesh woman.. the camera has been on you guys all day.. hair issues are the least of your worries..lol Her yelling has grated my last nerve!

That's the reason I like them so much! Sure, Gretchen's annoying, but it just seems so real. I can picture my mom saying that to my dad if they were in this thing!

Rob and Amber (well mostly Rob) are pretty entertaining. But I do think it was snakey (good word, Laurabearz) of him to ask his alliance teams to cough up $5 each and then not put his money in. Now that's low. Then again, he's not in this to make friends and he certainly won't at this rate. But I wouldn't be sorry to see them go. Remember, what goes around comes around. If he continues to play sneaky tricks, it will come back to bite them!
I still like Lynn and Alex-they crack me up! And, I like the brothers, too. They play a good game. I don't care for the older couple this time. While I like the mom and son, I'm not sure they're clever enough to carry themselves all the way through.
I had to take a phone call when the mom and son team were looking for money. I don't understand what happened that they didn't have enough. It was too early in the race for them to have lost all their money. Did they forget to take their allowance for the leg?? It doesn't make sense.

The only reason I didnt get irritated with Rob last night for pocketing HIS OWN money was because he had already paid the security guard not to tell any of the other teams about the faster bus that left later. He let the other 3 teams in on that bit of information and they didnt have to pay for it. So they really all ended up paying something.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm cheering for Rob and Amber. From what I've read, they fought to earn a spot on The Amazing Race, and so far, they're doing a great job of playing this game.

Beats the heck outta me....but I find her quite annoying and am hoping they leave sooner, rather than later.

ITA, but unfortunately people (and I don't agree with the rationale) feel that they don't "deserve" to either be in the AR, or better yet, to win the money. As far as I'm concerned, they are working just as hard, as anyone else in the race. How far they get is only created by their ability to work together and do what needs to be done to advance. I don't see how anyone can fault them for that.

I loved last nights show. I love that Rob bribed the guy not to open the back doors of the bus. That was brillant!

The mom and son team annoy me with their whining. The "beauty" queen and POW also annoy me because they aren't real bright. If one isn't being dumb, the other one is.

The older people are annoying. Well just the wife is annoying.

Okay, so I'm just going to say more of the same: Loved last night's show, and I loved Romber. And honestly, I much prefer to see Rob bribing the guard and the bus driver than see someone say "I'm sick and must get to a doctor, my getting on this flight is an emergency" or something along those lines. No, it's not an emergency, and that has always bugged me.

But really, I think Romber has been the smartest team to play so far that I've seen. No, they aren't the most ethical, certainly not the nicest, but they are the smartest I've seen.

My next favorite team is the brothers. Followed by the black couple (how do you spell his name? Uchena??) Though I agree, she really needed to get out there *moving* to shine the shoes rather than just standing on the corner.

Also, did anyone else notice that they've now made it so that each player has to do half the road blocks? Did this come in after Chip did almost all of them and Kim did nothing? Nice addition, I think.

I want the older couple to go next, Gretchen really gets on my nerves. Followed by the mom/son. Well, I'd keep the son, just dump the mom. Too bad you can't do that. LOL!

And I do think Romber are working together fantastically. They really do seem to be having a lot of fun with this and just enjoying themselves. Loved Rob's wink.

Great season so far!!

I've been enjoying Romber too. I think the things he did last night were brilliant and quite entertaining. He reminds me of Will from BB where he would share his antics with the home audience.

I really cannot stand the mother/son team. She's always complaining and freaking out about something, it's driving me crazy

I'm not sure at this point who I would like to win, it's still too early in the race for me :flower:
