The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

Okay, so I'm just going to say more of the same: Loved last night's show, and I loved Romber. And honestly, I much prefer to see Rob bribing the guard and the bus driver than see someone say "I'm sick and must get to a doctor, my getting on this flight is an emergency" or something along those lines. No, it's not an emergency, and that has always bugged me.

ITA!! Remember Charla & her cousin? Almost every time they were at a ticketing desk, she said "my cousin is sick, she must get the the doctor". Ugh, that irritated me so bad.

Rajah - I HATED that emergency thing so many of the past teams have done. I really like Romber and some the current tactics but I really hope they don't pull that one. I prefer him to keep bribing people. :)

Last night's episode was good but as usual I thought it was over too soon. I wish every week was a 2 hour episode. Surely they have enought footage to get 2 hours out each week.

I like Romber and other than that I don't really have any favorites. I also don't really have any teams that I really want to see lose yet. A few of them have had their annoying moments but no one is driving me crazy just yet....give it a few more weeks. :)

People were commenting that Rob and Amber were done and at the pit stop early. At least they gave other couples some air-time. Last night the mother-son team really didn't have to much air time.

And, everyone is commenting how Rob bribed the security guard not to tell anyone else about the bus that left later, but got to the destination earlier. Did the gay couple find out and that is what made everyone get mad at Rob. I thought they all ended up on that bus in the end.

While this is a game, there are some ethics that you need to hold to. Lying and, evidently for next weeks show, stealing a cab is pushing it. Rob admitted that he cheated his fellow bribers of the bus driver by pocketing his share of the bribe. I am disappointed in the conduct of Rob and Amber to date. There has to be some honor.

The conduct of Rob may come back to haunt him. Can you yield the same team twice? I can see this happening in this show.

I think what happened is one of the guys went over to the security guard and asked for some info and the guy said something along the lines of I was told not to help anyone and when asked by who, the guard said the one in the cap (Rob) so then one of the boyfriends went over to Rob and asked why he lied about info, Rob said he didn't lie...etc and so I think (I might be wrong on this) they just decided to do whatever Rob did since they knew he had info and since he waited for the later bus, so did they.

I was going to watch amazing Race last night I forgot because I was busy. How was last nights episode.

Also, did anyone else notice that they've now made it so that each player has to do half the road blocks? Did this come in after Chip did almost all of them and Kim did nothing? Nice addition, I think.

They started this on the last race, actually. I also like it. Makes things a little more fair and makes the teams have to think before they decide who will do which task to plan ahead a little.

One thing they added last season (or perhaps the one before) that I don't like is the Yield. The thing that sets AR apart for me is that, by and large, scheming and trickery tend not to work for the long term. You get ahead by your team's luck and ability, not by backstabbing others. The Yield doesn't jive with this for me.

Lying is not by any stretch of the imagination new to this game. I bet there hasn't been an episode in the past few seasons where one team didn't try to lie about something to get themselves ahead. Same with taking someone elses cab. If they left the cab and walked away... not like they threw them out of the cab and into the street, climbed in and sped away. The other team walked away from the cab and left it wide open.

At least we know the other teams caught up with Rob and Amber during the next leg. :rotfl:

I just don't get what is the big deal with people and Rob?? Yeah he lied.. so does everyone else. Are you guys ticked because he's at least creative enough to come up with some new tactics instead of the "I have an emergency, I'm sick, my kid is sick, my friend is sick, my third cousin once removed has a hangnail and gangrene is setting it..I have to get on this plane with this camera crew following me all the way.. yeah.. umm.. uhuh.. the airlines will buy that?

What about that team last season.. uggghh who was it.. that on the last leg was trying to get the airlines to go against international travel policy to let them on an earlier flight? Heck, they were lying trying to get someone to break the law for them!

I definitely agree! At least Rob is original with his tactics! Makes great entertainment, in my opinion!! :rotfl2:

I think people just don't like Rob. I didn't watch survivor so I don't know what he was like on that show, but people have definately lied in past seasons of AR. Bolo pretending he was handicapped, Kendra lying about getting home to a sick child (I'm pretty sure that's what she said), Charla saying she needed to get to the doctor.....Didn't one team tell another team they needed to exchange their money? It's been happening all along. :confused3

I was not all that crazy about Rob on Survivor, but so far I like both him and Amber. I think they are playing a great game.

I have a love/hate relationship with Rob. He's like the villian - the guy you love to hate. He's great for TV, though. He loves the camera and the camera loves him.

I wonder how much of this is his real personality and how much is put on for the cameras. He was totally different in Survivor All Stars and now in AR than he was in his original Survivor appearance (don't remember which one, Marqueses?). On his original Survivor stint he was very concerned with others liking him and didn't play the game very smart. Now he's a completely different person.

I will love or hate him depending on the day. I respect his street smarts when playing the game, though. He should have beat Amber for the million on Survivor, but had too many enemies. Here he shouldn't really have to worry about enemies unless it's a yield. I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to them being on AR, but I'm enjoying them.

I haven't decided who I want to win yet, I like all of the teams so far.

Yeah, it's on tonight. This is my only look forward watching reality show. :flower:

All the others I can pass on.

I am really surprised at how little of a lead Romber had. They got to leave at 12:34 and the next team was just an hour or so behind. It seemed like their lead was so much bigger. Guess it's all in the editing...

Now Rob is just SMART...first time in history did a player get other teams to voluntarily STOP playing to their advantage.

That was a brilliant move on Rob's part. I really think he of all people could have finished it though, after all that nasty survivor food they ate.

He actually did poorly on the nasty food challenges on Survivor.

Completely brilliant move on his part to take the penalty and even convince others to do the same. Brilliant!!!

I don't remember this but dh said that rob had a horrible time with the food challenges on survivor. something about fish? whatever, it was a brilliant move on Rob's part.

Holy Canolli! I LOVE Romber! Rob is so funny! And Amber just seems so easygoing letting Rob do his thing! They were brilliant tonight - can't wait too see what they pull off next week.
