The Amazing Race 7...official Thread

We knew what Rob was capable of before hand. The boyfriends are no angels and they are being shown more in that light each week. But at least they are off their "let's beat R/A" kick and perhaps we'll see them more competitive for the game instead of against one team.

As I said--noone seems to mind their inappropriate comment on Africa--but were fuming when Kendra said similar things last season.

It is simply an "anybody by R/A" season.
I'm sorry. Maybe it's just late and I'm not understanding, but it's ok for Rob to lie because we knew what he was capable of beforehand BUT the boyfriends shouldn't lie because we didn't get to know them beforehand because they weren't previous contestants on a reality show :confused3 ?

BTW: I like Rob and Amber. I do not like the boyfriends.

I think several people agreed that their comments were inappropriate. Deadheadbelle was one of them. Don't remember the others. If you look back at this thread it is about 95% about Rob and Amber. I think most people prefer to talk about them, but I bet most would agree that the boyfriends comments were inappropriate.

The ratio of Romber fans to others is about 95/5 so I don't buy your "anyone but Romber season." This season is all about Rob and Amber. Just look back at this thread if you can't take my word for it. Like I said, I like them and I agree they've been good for the show, but there are other contestants I'm also interested in and would like to see win.

I just finished watching the episode that I recorded ... here are my thoughts in the order of the finish:

Ron and Kelly
I'm still not a huge Ron fan, but I am beginning to like Kelly more and more. I loved her crack about how being a Beauty Queen prepared her to wear dorky caving clothes and crawl though a cave. She was really in her element at the orphanage. That kind of thing was exactly what a Beauty Queen learns and she did it well and with feeling. I'm bummed they didn't win anything.

TTWSNBN
Everyone knows I don't like them. But you know ... I was starting to enjoy them a bit in the first hour. They made me smile once or twice. And then ... they were the same, obnoxious jerks that I have grown to hate. First of all they refused to help Gretchen and Meredith. There was no excuse for that since Gretchen and Meredith really pose no threat. If they had given even a small token amount, I would have felt OK with it. But to stiff an old woman who took a nasty spill and then lost everything by coming in last ... that's cold. It was also cold for them to pass up the brother's roll-over with just a glance over their shoulder. At the very least they should have slowed down like the other teams. Not stopping or even pretending to care puts them right back to pond scum, AFAIC. I am glad that Phil called them on it. I think he has been amused by them and is amused no longer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if this is "playing to a new level" then I don't like the direction the game is going. I find it hard to believe that the die-hard fans are still trying to justify their bad-boy behavior.

Lynn and Alex
Both of them played a good game today and we didn't hear too much anti-TTWSNBN bashing. At least not that wasn't earned. They picked up on how to solve the villages problem pretty quickly. I was proud of them. I thought they were obnoxious to TTWSNBN, but what comes around goes around.

(Things get a little fuzzy for me since I was fast forwarding through the end. I don't remember if U&J finished next or M&G)

Uchenna and Joyce
Hats off to them for sharing some clothes with Meredith and Gretchen! That was beyond the call of duty and hope the good karma comes back to them :). I was hoping for a little more from them as they traveled through Africa. So many of the African-American couples feel a strong and emotional connection to the continent, but I didn't get that feeling from them. I was also hoping to see a little more emotion from them at the orphanage, given their fertility problems. However, they seemed like they were in and out as fast as they could go.

Meredith and Gretchen
Wow. Gretchen rocks. She's bleeding all over her scalp and face from a nasty fall and she tells Meredith to find the clue. Then, she goes shopping all bandaged up like the mummy. Then ... they make it to the final pit-stop of the night with a couple changes of borrowed clothes and their passports in a plastic bag. Class act, all the way.

Brian and Greg
"Go! Go! Go! Go! Run!!!!" I almost woke my daughter. I was so happy to see them finish after the accident. They seemed genuinely concerned about their cameraman and most of the other teams seemed genuinely concerned about them. They are a good team that can only go up from the bottom of the pack :).

Ray and Deana
I didn't like them. After the first of tonight's episodes I told my friend over the phone that I was beginning to dislike them more than TTWSNBN. Of course after the second ep, that was no longer true. However, I was still glad they were canned. Ray was totally obnoxious and they also refused to help Gretchen and Meredith. All that money sure helped them on the finish line, didn't it? I was impressed that they did the Fast Forward so well. I was sure one of them would fall. I am bummed that they won cars. Darn fine consolation prize.

One more thing and totally OT ... did anyone else see the real baobob tree? It was at 1:12 into the episode and there it was ... with real leaves. My DH and I always joke on the AK Kilamanjaro Safari when we come to the baobob tree. Hmmm ... we've been here in December, May, July, August, September, October and November and we have never seen leaves on the darn thing! It must bloom over Spring Break ;).

BTW, South Africa has some really good wines. One of my favorites is the Fairview Pinotage. It's spicy, somewhat chewy, medium-hearty red. A great wine with beef. I should pick up a bottle for the weekend. Yum :).

Would other teams have given Rob and Amber clothes and money if they came in last place? I highly doubt it. I think they should use time penalties rather than taking away possessions as a punishmement for coming in last. I was impressed that Rob and Amber didn't lose their tempers with each other tonight. Kudos to Amber for admiring the beauty of the African wildlife. She seems to appreciate where she is.

Nope--missed it...slowly working on Spring cleaning, so I was in and out of the room.

"chewy" wine?

I am also so tired of them calling everyone b*****s.

ME too! I thought it was awful that they were comparing parts of Africa with Compton. THEN to say, "Pick someone who doesn't look like they have a gun. Look - there's Tupac." Ugh. I want them to go next!! Puh-lease!!!!

For the record, we just watched the show on tape and Meredith and Gretchen were not shown asking Romber for anything.

I sure CBS has edited the show to heighten the drama, so we really don't if they did or didn't ask, just like we don't know if Romber slowed down as they drove past the accident.

I am SO glad Ray and Deana are gone! Good riddance! Gretchen really impressed me after getting hurt and still pushing forward. And count me in as another person who was cheering for the brothers during the foot race! Wow - that was exciting!

My top three are: Romber, the brothers, and Uchenna & Joyce.

I was so glad to see Ray and Deana go...It would be bad to see a couple that never really supported each other win this thing...

What about next week...OMG can you believe what Kelly says? Did anyone see the part tonight when she leaned into him expecting to get a kiss and he asked her something like "What are you doing leaning into me like that?" :cold: Brrr...a little chilly between them...

Also, I am new to this series this season and I wanted to know why do some teams carry all of their stuff to the rest stop and some don't? Rob and Amber may have beat them if they didi not have their stuff and other teams came to the end without their stuff...what determines that?

BTY on the cruise boards there is a thread about someone meeting Boston Rob in the Bahamas near Atlantis a couple weeks ago while they were on their cruise...I guess they wasted no time taking that trip! :flower:

BTW, did anyone else think Lynn was standing closer than the others during the Bushman Detour? It certainly didn't look like he was 20 ft away from his moving target.

Rob also mentioned something along the lines that it was possible Meredith pushed Gretchen for the sympathy - that was really uncalled for. Pond scum - good description ;)

I just have one thing to say about Rob and Amber:

Outwit, Outlast, Outplay.

Lest we forget how she (they) won Survivor! I wouldn't have stopped either!

Go Romber! LOL

That is true that other teams didn't stop, but at least they slowed down and asked if everyone was okay! Rob and Amber could have done the same and not lost any time!

Go Rob & Amber!! I wouldn't have stopped either. There is nothing they could have done. Why didn't Phil ask everyone else if they had stopped? Rob & Amber weren't the only ones who didn't stop. I cracked up when Rob was talking about how the ride out to the lions was like Jurassic Park, then looked at the camera & said "& we know how that turned out". BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

I thought boyfriends were awful when they went the wrong way & got lost. One of them was looking around & said "oh great, there's Tupac" (or something like that). What an ***. I'm ready for them to go.

Tonight's episode was great & I can't wait for next week.

I didn't hear what Kelly said. But I did notice when she leaned into him. Yeah that was cold. I don't like either of them.

I think the camera men radio in to Phil and tell him "the buzz" and that's why he asked them. And I don't think every team stopped, did they? Not Gretchen/Meredith I'm pretty sure.

I haven't read everyone's respond but YES EVERY other team at the very least slowed down & asked if the brothers were alright. The brothers kept telling the other teams to go on.
The only teams that did not stop were Ron & Kelly (they were ahead of the brothers so they didn't see it) & the Jerk & Amber!!!!!

Love last night's show!!!!!

Love the footrace! I was so happy when the brothers got there before Ray & Deana. :teeth: I was so ready to see Ray & Deana go!

Ah, Lynn & Alex....loved the comment "Sorry no room" :rotfl: Come on you Rob fans, you know Rob would have done the same thing or even paid the driver not to open the door & to "step on it" Hey Rob, what comes around goes around!!!!

I have never liked Rob but tonight he was even a bigger jerk! The comment he said about Grethen was very uncalled for. Yeah, none of the other teams like them because he is a JERK!

Yes, I do think the other teams would have a least slowed down & asked if they are alright if it was Rob & Amber in that crash, well, expect Lynn & Alex, maybe! ;)
I am glad Phil called Jerk/Amber on it too!!!!!

I loved what the brothers said to Lynn & Alex when they stopped, "Don't need to lose the race because of us". They could have held up Lynn & Alex until they got their replacement truck. And yes, I am sure if it was Rob & Amber that crashed, they would have scemed & tried to get people to wait with them so no one gets ahead of them or Rob might have tried to even steal the other team's car!

I would love to see Jerk & Amber be the next to go. I am so ready to see them go, can not stand his smugginess!

The top three teams I would love to see are:
Lynn & Alex
Urchenne & Joyce
Brian & Greg

I'm not a fan of the boyfriends but (in a very, very, very weak defense), sharing the cab would have also included the extra camera person and equipment. I agree that a better statement could have been made and not sharing the cab was a way to play the game.

I hope they learn to control their mouths very soon.

OMG! I started watching last week and couldnt wait for last nights episode! Glad to know they are going to reshow the first half of the series. That Ray is a PIG and Deanna is a fool for taking his crap! Not a fan of Rob and Amber either. I like the brothers, and the BF's crack me up! Uchenna and Joyce & Ron and Kelly are "ok". I like G & M too - Give them a lot of credit! They probably wont win but they're having a great time!

I was cheering out loud for the brothers at the end! How many more epidsodes?

~curly :wave2:

What an awesome episode! I was cheering so hard for the brothers in the final footrace last night  Don't you just LOVE it that Ray and Deanna were beaten handily by the 2 "old people" with no money and no possessions? :rotfl: Ray b*tched all about Meredith and Gretchen for several episodes, and even wanted to "put them out of their misery" (or something to that effect) on this episode. I love that he got SMOKED by them at the final pit stop :rotfl:

How badly was the cameraman hurt? That was really scary! I hate it when I see contestants bouncing around in the car...you KNOW that they aren't wearing seatbelts. Obviously, that is a dangerous proposition :sad2:

Usually it isn't necessary--especially when they drive on their own. Unless the clue actually says to bring it along. It isn't required.

I concede--that one was a nasty comment.

Good bye Ray and Deena. Tonight when Ray said he has to figure out what the problem is with the relationship DH said, "Uh, you." I agree.

I said the Exact same thing!
