The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Thanks for the Trader Joe's info, my boss also told me the coconut sorbet is great, but I don't know if it will survive the 45 min drive, even in a cooler.

Lindsay- our indoor cat barely lets us touch him, but sometimes just watching him makes me smile- point is I enjoy him without being close- just their antics are enough to make me laugh, I'm sure you'll find the same.
I LOVE almond extract, especially the smell. If I make brownies from a box, I always add a splash, I add it to the egg mixture if I'm making french toast (try it with old crossiants). My favorite brownie recipe is Palm Beach Brownies, but I up the amount of almond extract. They are a little time consuming to make, but worth it. You can do a search for them and all the recipes are pretty much the exact same thing.

Morning all. I am giggling because I have a snoozing P.C. on my rug on my back porch. I just love that cat.

Tonight I am making kitten Cajun pasta.

Hey you all, I went to Target last weekend. Their spices/seasonings were on sale and I picked up some almond extract.

Now give me some ideas and recipes to use it in :)

muffins, peach pie. Those are the 2 things I use almond extract for mostly.

Last night's chicken salad really hit the spot with all the kids. No leftovers at all! I was really impressed that they each tried a slice of avocado. None of them really liked it, but at least they tried without giving me grief! More avocado for me!!!!

Dinner tonight will be a skillet lasagna. Better get the meat out of the freezer to thaw, now!

Thanks for the compliments on Alan's work. I think he does a great job! Of course, I'm a little biased!

Glynis -- Alan did a great job. :thumbsup2

I've used it in cakes, cookies, frosting, whipped cream and truffles. It's a pretty strong flavoring -- you don't need nearly as much almond extract in a recipe as you would vanilla...probably half -- but it is good and smells delicious.

Liam has a baseball game again tonight. I am tentatively thinking burgers, maybe a turkey burger for me, but that will depend on whether I go to the store.

I changed my mind on dinner. We're having chicken tacos instead of burgers.

I just found out my next-door neighbors lost their son in a car accident in town last night. The son was a state trooper (he was off-duty) in his early 30s with two children Liam and Caili's age. It's really sad. I'm going to go pick up Liam and Caili from their camps and give each an extra hug.

Oh, that's so sad! Hug them extra tight from me as well!

How sad! I cannot imagine losing a child that way.

Laura, I am so sorry to hear about the tragic accident of your friend. My thoughts are with everyone. How very sad...

Laura, sorry to hear about your neighbors awful loss. Hug those kids tight!

WFD- DH is working. I am making a caesar with grilled chicken for us before he leaves.

Boy the sky just darkened, looks like we are in for a big storm.

I could always send you a box of goodies!
Pick out what you want and next time I go let me know & I will ship it down.

Thank you, that's so sweet of you to offer, but I wouldn't have a clue what to order. I don't see their products online.:confused3

My heart just aches for them Laura, I just hugged my baby extra tight.

My thoughts and prayers are also with the folks in Texas and Mexico feeling the wrath of Hurricane Dolly.:grouphug:

I am planning on making corn chowder for dinner, plus a tomato salad. Maybe some popovers on the side.

Whole Foods typically carries most weird things. You can also find them at Cost Plus World Market. You can find Whole Foods in most states except most of the more rural ones. I hate shopping there because it's expensive and everybody seems a little stuck up. No offense if you shop there. The selection is really good.

Thanks for the tips on where to find it - I will go tomorrow to see if I can round it up.

I have to take a minute to brag on my husband. He's been spending the last couple of weeks working on clips of the plays being produced at my father's theater company. Well, they are finally up on the website, and I think they look really good! Take a look if you feel like it.

I am going to eat something here at the church tonight - I won't be getting out of here before 9pm, and that's only if I'm lucky. Told DH to drive through Taco Bell and don't wait on me.
