The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Lauren, I am really sorry to hear about your thyroid troubles! :(  If I were you, I would really insist on some strong meds for the test! I hate when they tell you it's going to be a little painful & then it's as bad as birthing a baby!

Thanks Sheryl, Funny you said that. I told my doctor that I'd rather go through child birth again than go through this biopsy. Oh Gawd, I am getting nauseous just thinking about it.

Gotta get it out of my mind...;)

Is is Corona time yet?

Ok, I almost got it right. I was trying to do "the multiquote thing" and apprently I didn't quite get it. Sorry! let this serve as a warning for future posts! AND.... I hit the submit button instead of the preview button.

I tried 3 times one day and gave up :worried:

Aimee - Here ya go:

Lemon Chicken
.

Kathy- this sounds like a treat to me. I am putting on for next week with some kind of pasta.

Ahh...the mother's curse. Becky got that too...note that she doesn't have any kids.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Afternoon Y'all,

Oh, he Mother's Curse! My Mom did it too me & it really worked. My poor Daddy used to say "That girl can't stop shutting up when she's shutting up"! Can y'all tell I used to really rattle his cage?!:faint: Of course I understood what he meant when my DD came along!

Due to me passing along The Curse, I may never be a grandmother! DD is not in any hurry to have one just like her!

Thanks for all the well wishes y'all! :goodvibes I'm still achy but my mood has improved today!

While I had was making myself a fajita for lunch today, I convinced Alexis to have a quesadilla! "No meat please, No, no onions either." Salsa? " No, no salsa either, just cheese please." When eating her quesadilla she exclaimed " Wow, Nana this is really good! Aren't you proud of me for eating something besides mac & cheese?" Argh!:faint:

You are killing me! :lmao::lmao: Between picturing you rattling your Dad, getting repaid by your DD and Alexis and the CMT songs, I am dying :rotfl2:

Now the little Chef likes quesadillas.....with no gilding, huh? And, Nana....are you proud???

I have to tell you my Nana moment. Kady threw her arms around my waist and told me that she loved me....and she was so excited that she could hold her own hands now when she hugged me! This kid has been counting points for me so she figured the success was all hers :thumbsup2

Lauren- I am a little lost about the medical logistics but I do understand "Painful" Is there a good reason why the Dr is not prescribing enough medication to dull the pain? I don't understand why he would let you cry if he could prevent it, it makes no sense to me.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this and you know I am going to add prayers for you.

I got a lot of my list accomplished today so I am a little happier. Dinner is going to be tequila-lime chicken grilled, salad, broccoli, baked white and sweet potatoes. Kady and Jeff hate "orange" potatoes.

Just cracked one open, Kat!

Lauren, It's okay with us if you that Corona is a chaser for a shot of tequila! ;)

I'm not being very inspirational on dinners lately, am I? DH is picking up sushi as we speak! :goodvibes

Things have been hard around here, but I really have to be appreciative of DH being able to bring home the bacon! Figuratively & Literally!!

Lauren  I wish you a very painfree biopsy. Try to relax and think happy thoughts. Yes Hook was on cable this week.

Laurie Congrats to your DD

Wendie I would just insist your dad get checked out play up the daughter card and Ross the grandkid card. You need him healthy. Practice your sad eyes.

Sheryl Alexis sounds too precious.

Gretchen I am glad to hear Hailey is such a pro at the WII. Alex and his friends really like the WII fit. It isn't quite the exercise I would like but they are having fun.

Tonight we are having raviolis garlic bread and salad.
It is offical I have an 8th grader.:faint: Alex's last day was today.

 Thank goodness for men who can bring dinner home :thumbsup2

Sheryl- I know that I missed something and hope that you are okay.

Nancy Doesn't that just make starving worth it.

You got that right :thumbsup2

I have to admit that I am not starving though. I could not manage Flex on WW but the Core plan is good for me. I don't just like to eat, I like food. If I was hungry and my only option left was raw veggies I would not last the night.

You also have a great cheering section.

WFD- baked Greek Chicken liver and something else, don't know what DM made.

Sheryl - I wish you'd have gotten a pic of our little country music singer...that must have been adorable!!:goodvibes

Nancy - Congrats on the weight loss!!:thumbsup2

Ahh...the mother's curse. Becky got that too...note that she doesn't have any kids.

:rotfl2: My brother and his wife are having their first child next month, and I can't wait to see if my mother's curse on him worked. He was quite a handful. My brother is the youngest and my father swears if he was first, he and mom would have only had one child.

Tonight we are having grilled chicken that is marinating in balsamic vinagrette. I'm going to saute some zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and onions to go on top. I was going to make brown rice to go with it, but it's jump rope night and I'll get home to late for it to cook, so it's couscous instead. They would just complain about the rice anyway, but I tried on bathing suits today so I'll be on a health food kick for a bit.
Enjoy you dinner everyone.

Rogue, I never try on bathing suits until I have had at least two glasses of wine.

At least she's branching out some. ;) Cheese quesadillas are a stretch from mac and cheese. Sort of. :rotfl:

Hey All!

Now the bad news from the bad news...the freakin biopsy is pretty painful. Tom will be accompanying me on 6/30 when I go to get it done. He stands at my feet and tries to comfort me as I cry like a baby...I am going to call for something to relax me and ask for something for the pain after.

Keep me in your thoughts, please.

Oh Lauren. I'm so sorry you have to go through that. I'm here if you need me.

I have to tell you my Nana moment. Kady threw her arms around my waist and told me that she loved me....and she was so excited that she could hold her own hands now when she hugged me! This kid has been counting points for me so she figured the success was all hers :thumbsup2

Nancy that is wonderful! :cool1: That is a greater reward than the attagirl at weigh in, I'm sure.

It is offical I have an 8th grader.:faint: Alex's last day was today.

Keep your fingers crossed that at the end of the week I have an upcoming seventh grader. :rolleyes1

I've been looking at Wii fit for Kenny and I, but Hailey might be able to do it if it was easy to follow. I think she has enjoyed it because it was one of the few video games that made sense to her. She got feedback from the controller, so it was easy for her to figure out the object of each game.

I'm washing clothes tonight, but I didn't have to cook dinner. Just because I had some milk that I needed to use, I made Kenny a quick custard pie, which he almost didn't let set before he cut it. I love him, but I swear he is as bad as the children sometimes. :headache:

Gretchen If I can figure WII fit I'm sure Hailey will excel. I have been told many many times I have no rhythm.

Rogue Bathing suits are no ones favorite item. I got the suit I ordered yesterday. I look passable in it. I don't think I'll scare too many small kids. I found one that had shorts, covers more;)

I have been cutting back on what I eat but not really "dieting" I don't handle that word well. I think I'll give the WW core plan a real try. I need to get rid of my middle.

I am going to call for something to relax me and ask for something for the pain after.

I cannot find a bathing suit that I like or fits me right this year...it rots!

I am a big baby when it comes to pain. I hope they can give you something, and of course, I especially hope everything comes back negative. You deserve an extra Corona tonight!

I don't like the swim suits this year either. Usually, Lands End is pretty reliable, but I don't like most of their styles this year.

Kady threw her arms around my waist and told me that she loved me....and she was so excited that she could hold her own hands now when she hugged me! This kid has been counting points for me so she figured the success was all hers :thumbsup2

That is so cute. Congratulations on the weight loss!

It is offical I have an 8th grader.:faint: Alex's last day was today.

Wow! I am having a tough time wrapping my mind around the fact that Liam will be in 4th grade next year. I hope Alex has a great summer!

I never try on bathing suits until I have had at least two glasses of wine.
 Now that is a business idea...wine bar, with adjacent swim suit emporium. Of course, they would have to have a generous return policy, depending on the amount of wine consumed.

Tonight we had grilled halibut in a soy/ginger marinade, grilled pineapple, baby bok choy, and sort-of fried rice with cashews and coconut. Here's a picture:

Laura, how did you cook the bok choy?

Very simple...I chopped it up and put it in a saute pan with a little butter (you could use water instead, but I always opt for butter) and some soy sauce. I cooked it until the greens were wilted...that's it.

Hey All!

I figured I'd let the mess here sit and try and catch up! ;)

Well, I had some good news at the doctor and some bad news...

Good News: My hormone levels have stabilized, so I can stick with the dose of meds that I am taking.

Bad News: My Goiters are a-growing!!! :( I need to get 2 more nodules biopsied. The one that I had biopsied last time grew about 4 mm...its at about 27 mm total and the new one I am getting biopsied is 14, up from 13.

Now the good news from the bad news, cancer risk in thyroid is pretty low and very treatable...

:sad1:

I wish you didn't have to wait almost an entire month. Sometimes the waiting game is the most part!

We ended up with cheeseburgers, fried okra, and pasta salad. It was yummy.

Hey - did anyone else notice the Nov hours are finally up? :rolleyes1
