The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Good Morning,

Tonights dinner will be a repeat of last night's dinner. DD is being inducted to the National Honor Society:yay: at 7pm so will be a late night and I know for sure that I will not feel like cooking. Which leaves me all day to come up with something wonderful for tomorow night!

Thanks Nancy! Next game is tomorrow.

Funny story. A is up at bat, then calls time out...:confused3 His tooth fell out!!! :rotfl: He stood there showing the ump, then stuck it in his pocket, then proceeded to strike out! :rolleyes1

Morning all--

Nancy--I love you to much to send MIL your way, but it was a wee bit tempting I will admit, I would LOVE to see her face after a "talking" to by you!!!
You would think by now that we would be prepared for her ways, yet she still seems to catch us off guard at times. She is a piece of work that is for sure.
Your salad sounds yummy, but I can just see someone giving it the stink eye, ;)

Gretchen--I love Hailey stories, so please share them more often!! I send big hugs to her, as she just brings a smile to my face when I think of her!

Lauren--A must have been excited on the win!! Keep us posted and I will continue to send pixie dust his way! Oh my gosh Lauren, I am dying laughing at A up to bat!!

Lindsay--We also have an extra dessert even if there is cake, and with it being an ice cream cake it might be nice to have some cookies or brownies to go along with it. As for the veggie tray, see if you local store has a small pre- made one up can pick up, I know we have 2 sizes of them here all ready to go in the produce sections.

Laura--That sandwich looked amazing!! I even made my dad look at it last night, he wants to know when I will be making one of those for him, so I know what I need to get at the store this week, ;)

Laurie--Congratulations to DD!! Great Job!

We were able to get my dad's glasses fixed yesterday morning, he wouldn't eat until we got them fixed, (and he can't take meds on an empty stomach). They had to replace the whole nose piece on it and it took 20 min to readjust them etc., but they are good as new and they didn't charge him a thing. The I took him out to eat and got an Aleve in him, he is very sore and I am worried that he cracked a rib, but he won't go get checked. I told him he has until Thursday then we are going if it isn't any better.
I missed something/one I think...I will try to figure it out this afternoon when I check back in.
I have a hair appt this morning and then Ross has a dentist appt for a cleaning this afternoon.

Supper tonight is Oven baked tilapia, with scalloped potatoes (rice for Ross) and pan roasted asparagus(sp) (corn for Ross).

Have a nice day all!

Good morning! Just popping in quickly to share some pictures. Here is my dinner last night. I made chicken quesadillas with roasted poblanos and onions, with guacamole. As you can see I made WAAAY too much, and I will be eating quesadillas for the rest of the week!

Here is a photo from John. This is chili crab (as if you can't tell!). Does it look spicy enough for you? :faint: He is actually having a good time, and all of the food he has eaten has been delicious. If he shares more food pictures, I will show them to you.

Have a good day everyone! I'll check back in later when I decide what I am making for dinner.

You have got to be one proud Mama! This is a celebration for sure.

Thanks Nancy! Next game is tomorrow.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Discombobulated over the tooth? We went to watch Debbie when her team was in a regional competition in Maryland. This was one serious tournament and the girls were every kind of focused. All of a sudden everything stops and girls on both teams are crawling all over the ground. Dead silence. One of the girls lost a contact and there was no time to lose. Talk about team spirit!

Keep me in mind for MIL. I get grumpy and if I have to take it out on someone :rolleyes1 Buddy's Mom thought that I was "difficult" and I never gave it to her with both barrels.

I'm glad that things are finally going well for Dad. Entice him with a sandwich, in my experience that works well.

Becky- That food looks good! Your DH is a trooper, taking pics of his meals is way more than Buddy would ever agree to, but if spicy food was offered to him it would not last long enough for the camera to even warm up ;)

Now I want quesadillas!

Mariiiiiiiisaaaaaaaa..........

Today I am making jambasta. Easy and delish.

Thanks for the help on the veggies and dessert. I guess I'm just frustrated because I don't really cook on the weekends and I'm having to do it a lot lately.

I feel your pain! June 14 we have a double graduation party for my neice and nephew, approximately 120 people. I have to make two different kinds of calzones (double the amount I normally make) and a strawberry & blueberry trifle. Not only will I be cooking all day and chasing DS, but $$$$$.

The only difference is I offered and wasn't told what to bring.

Like another poster said this time of year is quite hectic and expensive sometimes.

Nothing yet.....You can never brag enough on your baby, she AMAZES me and I can't wait to see her again!:goodvibes

Well, I'm still pulling for you. There is a house for sale on my street and at least twice a week when I ride by and see their for sale sign I wonder if yours has sold. And thanks for the kind words about Hailey. She amazes us too.

I'm looking forward to seeing you again too. It seems like November won't ever get here fast enough. I'm really ready for this vacation.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: It took years until Dan got the curse. He was 17 when he turned into the nasty teenager (girlfriend) so by then we were broadsided. He must have gotten scared becasue he has told us he is not having kids. I think Marisa was worried as well after we blessed her with our lettle wish, she told us she could nto stand kids adn along came kady. Kady has every single characteristic that Marisa has, but they are even more "refined". :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: We are so amused becasue the two of them are so alike :lmao::lmao::lmao: See????? Justice!

Now do not stop bragging about our Princess! I can picture her and that vision is a treat!

I told Kenny that was why my mother looked so happy when I told her I was expecting. It wasn't just that she was getting a grandchild, she was also going to get her revenge. :lmao: It is something else to watch a child be so much like a parent. Hailey has my temperament - determined, bossy, etc. So much so that when Kenny was brushing her teeth one night and she was fussing at him about it, he told her that it was alright, she could fuss all she wanted to, that he was an expert with difficult women. :rotfl2:

And as a side note on the salad/diet front (not that you don't get enough advice at WW), but I really like that Low Fat Newman's Own Asian dressing. It is 1.5 grams of fat per serving and has a lot of flavor. I've used it on salads and as a marinade for grilled chicken. Just FYI.

Congrats to your daughter! How wonderful for both of you.

:lmao: I love this and I really appreciate your sharing it. (Even if A might not, hee hee, since I'm sure he's like my 12 y.o. and thinks he is grown and would be mortified if he knew I told any story that involved something as "uncool" as his losing a tooth). And congrats on winning!!

I'm glad your Dad got his glasses fixed. But why in the world would he not eat before he had them fixed? Was he afraid you would sneek in the veggies when he couldn't see them? :rotfl:

Your dinner sounds wonderful. What do you put on your tilapia to bake it?

Becky, wow that looks spicy! I don't think there is enough Prilosec for Kenny to have been able to eat that, but I would have loved it.

Thanks for the help on the veggies and dessert. I guess I'm just frustrated because I don't really cook on the weekends and I'm having to do it a lot lately.

Well, from what you've said about your MIL's cooking, you may be glad you brought something edible. ;)

Leftovers for us tonight. Thank heavens. The only dinner decision I have tonight is white or red wine (maybe both). ;)

WFD- grilled BBQ shrimp skewers, corn on cob, chopped salad (thanks Kathy).

he can have them all!! Mild Salsa is enough spice for me!!

Ann

I feel your pain, we are doing a 5 graduate party on June 28th. 200-300 people. My DD, My DBF's Daughter and 3 close friends children. Wish me luck

Leftovers for us tonight. Thank heavens. The only dinner decision I have tonight is white or red wine (maybe both). ;)

I vote for both!

Ok, I almost got it right. I was trying to do "the multiquote thing" and apprently I didn't quite get it. Sorry! let this serve as a warning for future posts! AND.... I hit the submit button instead of the preview button.

Anyway, as I was saying....
:thanks: Thank you so much for all the congrats for Crystal, I NEVER thought I would see the day when she would pull this off,:wizard: I was floored when she told me. This is the child that as long as she is passing it is good enough for her, she is to busy with other stuff to be worried about grades.

WFD - Lemon Chicken & Pasta, veg & salad.

Recipe?

Thanks Nancy! Next game is tomorrow.

Funny story. A is up at bat, then calls time out...:confused3 His tooth fell out!!! :rotfl: He stood there showing the ump, then stuck it in his pocket, then proceeded to strike out! :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

We're having either tacos with mexican rice and black beans or cheeseburgers with fried okra. I'm voting for tacos, since I don't have lettuce on hand for burgers, but we'll see what sounds good at the time.

Aimee - Here ya go:

Lemon Chicken

2 lemons
4-6 bone-in or boneless chicken pieces
1/3 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
4 Tbsp. oil
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 c. chicken broth

Grate and reserve peel from 1 of the lemons, then cut in half and squeeze juice over chicken, thoroughly coating each piece with juice. In a small bag combine flour, salt and paprika. Place chicken a few pieces at a time in bag and shake to coat.

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add chicken and cook until well browned on all sides. Transfer chicken to a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle reserved lemon peel and brown sugar over chicken. Cut second lemon into slices and arrange over chicken. Pour broth into pan.

Bake, covered, in a 375 oven for 45 minutes for bone-in or 25 minutes for boneless. Serve with pasta or rice.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: And we have already cursed him. Kenny told him he hoped he had a house full just like him. :scared1:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: It took years until Dan got the curse. He was 17 when he turned into the nasty teenager (girlfriend) so by then we were broadsided. He must have gotten scared becasue he has told us he is not having kids.

Ahh...the mother's curse. Becky got that too...note that she doesn't have any kids.

Gretchen -- That is really great about Hailey liking the Wii. I'm sure Liam would be impressed by her being able to get to the last level.

DD is being inducted to the National Honor Society:yay:

Congratulations!

Funny story. A is up at bat, then calls time out...:confused3 His tooth fell out!!! :rotfl: He stood there showing the ump, then stuck it in his pocket, then proceeded to strike out! :rolleyes1
 Very funny! Congratulations on the win and good luck tomorrow!

Wendie -- I am glad you were able to get your dad's glasses fixed. I hope he didn't crack a rib. I don't think there is much they can do for that, even if he did.

Dinner tonight is grilled halibut in a soy/ginger marinade, pineapple fried rice, and baby bok choy.

Gotta run...time to get the kids from school!

Tonight we are having grilled chicken that is marinating in balsamic vinagrette. I'm going to saute some zucchini, cherry tomatoes, and onions to go on top. I was going to make brown rice to go with it, but it's jump rope night and I'll get home to late for it to cook, so it's couscous instead. They would just complain about the rice anyway, but I tried on bathing suits today so I'll be on a health food kick for a bit.
Enjoy you dinner everyone.

Afternoon Y'all,

Oh, he Mother's Curse! My Mom did it too me & it really worked. My poor Daddy used to say "That girl can't stop shutting up when she's shutting up"! Can y'all tell I used to really rattle his cage?!:faint: Of course I understood what he meant when my DD came along!

Due to me passing along The Curse, I may never be a grandmother! DD is not in any hurry to have one just like her!

Kathy, Bob usually has a lot more steak leftover than I do!! Then I get half of his half the next day too! ::yes::

LaurieG, Congrats to your DD!!! :thumbsup2 That is really great, you must be so proud of her!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes y'all! :goodvibes I'm still achy but my mood has improved today!

Becky, How do you make quesadillas look so yummy?!! And did John think that crab was hot enough! Wow that even beats anything us Cajuns would eat!!

While I had was making myself a fajita for lunch today, I convinced Alexis to have a quesadilla! "No meat please, No, no onions either." Salsa? " No, no salsa either, just cheese please." When eating her quesadilla she exclaimed " Wow, Nana this is really good! Aren't you proud of me for eating something besides mac & cheese?" Argh!:faint:

I haven't decided on dinner. DH had recorded the CMT awards, so I thought I let Alexis see her idol Miley C. Little did I know she'd be blown away by Sugarland's performance & song "Life in a Northern Town" We've only replayed it about 12 times today!!! While Alexis stood on the coffee table singing with them! I shouldn't be complaining though, she didn't make me replay Billy Ray & Miley over & over!

Hey All!

I figured I'd let the mess here sit and try and catch up! ;)

Well, I had some good news at the doctor and some bad news...

Good News: My hormone levels have stabilized, so I can stick with the dose of meds that I am taking.

Bad News: My Goiters are a-growing!!! :( I need to get 2 more nodules biopsied. The one that I had biopsied last time grew about 4 mm...its at about 27 mm total and the new one I am getting biopsied is 14, up from 13.

Now the good news from the bad news, cancer risk in thyroid is pretty low and very treatable...

Now the bad news from the bad news...the freakin biopsy is pretty painful. Tom will be accompanying me on 6/30 when I go to get it done. He stands at my feet and tries to comfort me as I cry like a baby...I am going to call for something to relax me and ask for something for the pain after.

Keep me in your thoughts, please.

I'm glad Andrew played well. :thumbsup2 Good luck tonight! These are playoff games, aren't they? I'm curious as to how they work there. I'm pretty sure Liam's team will make the playoffs (they are in 2nd place, despite the losses last week) but I don't know how many games are involved or anything.

Yes, these are the playoffs. I am really not sure how they work here...A's team is in 3rd but all teams play in the playoffs. Then double elimination...I can't even read the schedule the way its bracketed. I am such a dumb blonde!

Cornell chicken

Thank you! I probably will not be able to cut the chicken that way, but I'll try!

I thought summer was supposed to be relaxing, but it seems the closer it gets, the busier everyone is getting.

I cannot wait for the end of school and baseball...

The heat pretty much wiped me out. So yesterday was a do nothing day & my neck/back has flared up again.

I hope you feel better...glad to see you are in a little better mood today.
:offtopic: Just got the call DN's team lost 1-0 in 9 innings. Fortunately, it is double elimination. :hyper: Next game is Wednesday.

Good luck tomorrow!

Yummo!

:
Right now, I'm watching Kenny and Hailey play with the Wii. When we bought it I had no idea that she would ever play with it, but she loves it. She is really good at the shooting game on the Wii Play, but for anyone who is familar with it, she just watches the aliens carry her people off in the final level. But she is amazing with the balloons and the bulls-eyes.

Sorry, enough bragging on my baby. Goodnight everyone.

Brag away! I am so glad that Hailey is having fun!

Justice!

:scared1: :rotfl: What comes around, right?

Good Morning,
DD is being inducted to the National Honor Society:yay:

Congrats!!!

I am glad things worked out with Dad's glasses...I hope he feels better and his rib is not cracked...

Good morning! Just popping in quickly to share some pictures. Here is my dinner last night.

Here is a photo from John.

Yours looks yummy! I would have been scared to even try John's. Hope they had alot of water handy!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Discombobulated over the tooth? We went to watch Debbie when her team was in a regional competition in Maryland. :rotfl:

Thanks for the help on the veggies and dessert. I guess I'm just frustrated because I don't really cook on the weekends and I'm having to do it a lot lately.

I agree with everyone...do something easy...dump cakes are always good...peach and pineapple or is a good combo for this time of year.

Leftovers for us tonight. Thank heavens. The only dinner decision I have tonight is white or red wine (maybe both). ;)

My decision will be with or without lime...A Corona in the hot tub is definitely needed this evening!

They would just complain about the rice anyway, but I tried on bathing suits today so I'll be on a health food kick for a bit.

I cannot find a bathing suit that I like or fits me right this year...it rots!

While Alexis stood on the coffee table singing with them! I shouldn't be complaining though, she didn't make me replay Billy Ray & Miley over & over!

What a cutie you have there...:)
