The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

I will think about dinner later. I am crawling out of my skin with this rash thing. I almost feel badly that I blamed it all on Buddy, he was feeling badly that his bad mood upset me. Now I may have to admit I have a reaction to something, and Darn! that bugs me! I'm going to try to get into the Dr. this morning.

Oh Nancy, I hope you can get into the Dr. soon, I'll be praying my friend.

Morning all! Made the corn casserole for the party last night per Lauren's suggestion. Was a big hit! Thanks Aimee for the recipe. Not sure about tonight--normally Friday's are take out nights, but we haven't eaten at home in about a week, so we'll see.

Nancy--Hope you feel better soon!

I found that my Dr is not in on Friday so I went into the walk in down in the center. I have Poison Ivy :scared:. I had to call Buddy and apologize for blaming my "hives" on him. I thought about keeping that tidbit to myself :rolleyes1 but he worries enough as it is so I sucked it up and called.

Piglet- When I am hungry for pizza, nothing else will do it. I would have been annoyed too.

Poor Nancy! That makes me itchy just thinking about it.

Thankfully I have never gotten poison ivy, have not a clue what it looks like. But my poor brother was allergic and any time he got it he ended up with it EVERYWHERE! :scared1: Poor kid.

Don't thank me, thank Paula Deen!

Oh, you poor thing! I've never had poison ivy, mostly because I avoid the outdoors as much as humanly possible ;) , but I've had kids get it at camp and such and it is just miserable! Hope they can give you something to relieve the itch?

Thanks for all the  yesterday. I appreciate them.

Tonight I am grilling chicken legs marinated in that korean chicken recipe someone posted a few pages back - I've never even made chicken legs at home. How long do they take to grill usually? I also have some squash and zucchini to grill alongside them. YUM!

I've never had it before so I don't know how it feels but I'm itching just thinking about it. Do you have something to put on it?

Nancy, I used to get poison ivy all the time when I was a kid. I even have a scar on one of my fingers from a particularly large and disgusting pustule.

ANYWAY, I wanted to tell you, if your doctor did not already, that taking an oatmeal bath will help a lot with the itching. Aveeno makes an oatmeal bath solution that comes in individual packets if you don't want to fill your tub with quaker oats!

Aimee, one thing I do when I grill chicken legs is put slashes in them--about three per leg, pretty deep. It helps them cook evenly.

Not sure wfd yet...something simple though!

Ayyyy! As you may recall, I am very prone to poison ivy...since I had it on my arms on my wedding day!!! :scared1:

There is a wash that is AMAZING called Tecnu. My sister works for Public Service and they hand this out to all the line men, etc. I have since talked to people around here since I live in poison ivy central now and they actually leave the bottle in the shower for the times when they are out in the gardens or farm.

Hope you feel better!

Just a quick moment.........I wanted to let you all know that Kris' grandmother passed away at 1pm this afternoon...........We have now lost 4 people in 5 months time........I feel defeated.........It was the best thing that she passed, but it still doesn't take the hurt away........poor Kris, my heart aches for him, he was close to her.

I will be back later this evening to check up on everyone and see what I have missed the past two days.
I have to go to school to get Ross, he wanted me to pick him up today instead of the bus ride home.

Lauren- I had forgotten your battle with the Poison Ivy. I have some cream, some prednisone and some Atarax, which is going to make me drowsy. I am noting the rest of the goodies available becasue I am not a trooper

Wendie, My condolences to you and your family. We are here for you.

Nancy-best wishes with the prednisone-that's not a fun drug. Hope you feel better soon.

We're having take-out pizza and salad for dinner.

Nancy- my husband is a tree climber, I think I am a poison ivy expert by now. In fact I think poison ivy is what holds Cape Cod together! Tecnu is great before the rash starts, it washes the oils off you. You can also use in when you do the laundry. Wash your towels everyday. Don't take hot showers, it opens up your pores and it spreads more, some say it can't spread- but I've never gotten it from the actual plant, just from my husband. For the acutual rash, there is a product "Ivy-Dry," it's the best we found. It comes in a brown spray bottle, I can't find it at the grocery store, I have to go to CVS to get it. Until I had poison ivy for the first time, I always told him not to itch- now I keep my mouth shut, it feels so good to itch it. The ivy dry really does dry out your skin, so if you use it after the rash is gone you will probably need some lotion. Good luck.

WFD- going to Drunco tonight so I will just be eating horsderve type things.

Also getting my hair colored for the first time tonight too! :scared1: I may look like that after they get done with me, the boss and her boss are doing it.

I'm so sorry

Wendie, I am so sorry. You're family sure has gone through a lot of pain lately. Just remember, we're praying for y'all.

Nancy, Sorry to hear about the poison ivy! I hope the doctor gave you some really good meds!
I can really commiserate with you right now. I broke out in rash from sunscreen again! I've been loopy on benadryl today. This was the baby sunscreen too. I wish I could at least have the reaction when I put it on, not a day later.

I couldn't get into the doctor either. I'm gonna just keep popping benadryl today. If it's worse tomorrow, I'll have to go to a walk-in clinic.

No cooking here today either, take-out po-boys for dinner tonight.
