The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Wendie, I am sorry for your loss. You've had a rough time of it lately.

Here are some photos from last night. I made a green cocktail for John in honor of the Celtics game.

Then we had a grilled romaine salad with homemade blue cheese dressing:

I also made a pizza but forgot to take a picture.

I think I am grilling chicken for dinner tonight. I was planning on having it tomorrow when Laura's here, but John really wants it and he has to go to Shanghai tomorrow, so I suppose I should make something he wants to eat before he goes over there and probably gets sick!

Laura, Sorry for Liam's loss...good luck for today!

Ann, Congrats to your neice!

Becky, Wishing John a safe trip!

Kat, Enjoy your favorite meal!

Andrew has his last game today and then the start of playoffs...

We are probably going to eat some sort of chicken from Market Day...and some pasta salad that I made yesterday.

Have a great day!

I'm fixing to throw the korean chicken legs on the grill as we ended up grabbing chinese last night when we were out. We'll have it for lunch instead.

tonight is a "preception" for a wedding - they are having the dinner reception the night before and it's catered BBQ. Tasty!

Well, so much for grilling. I had the chicken in marinade and everything but now it is pouring and it is going to thunder! Hey Laura, guess what's for dinner tomorrow? :rotfl2:

John still wants chicken so I think I am going to make the pineapple chicken because I can do boneless chicken inside. I'll also make some asparagus and fiddleheads, and maybe some mac and cheese.

Calling all cooks.....

What do you serve for a sauce with crab cakes? :confused3 I bought the fixings and would love to try something new and exciting for a sauce. Recipes please.

TIA,
Ann

I love this Spicy Remoulade Sauce with crabcakes:

3/4 c. mayo
1/4 c. finely chopped celery
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
2 Tbsp. finely chopped parsley
1 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
1 Tbsp. minced shallot
1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
1 Tbsp. ketchup
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. Tabasco
1/2 tsp. minced garlic
kosher salt

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, stir to blend. Store in frig until ready to use.

Ann, Kat's sauce looks truly amazing!!! Kat, since my guys do not like much seafood, can I used that on other things?

This sauce is so good, you could use it on anything. Whenever I make it, I do a double batch and my guys use it on everything.:goodvibes

Hey friends,

Thank you for the thoughts, prayers and kind words:hug:
This year has just been a doozy and we aren't even half way through it yet. It is rough that is all I know. We know it was the best for Kris' grandmother, but it still hurts to lose someone, and having lost so many this year it is even worse. We will have the funeral next Sat. as we have to wait for Kris Aunt from Oregon to get here, and she has to get her business set to leave and she had booked the ticket before grandma died thinking we had more time.
SO thank you all again for just being here, I don't know how I would have made it through all of this without you all! :goodvibes

Nancy--How is the poison ivy doing? I had an awful case of it on my shins years ago, and I went on vacation with my brother to Myrtle Beach and the salt water from the ocean dried it out, when I mentioned it to my Dr she said that soaking in epson salts would have done that as well.
My father doesn't have any reaction to poison ivy at all, so when he was a kid he used to have the neighborhood kids pay him to role around in patches of it, they thought he was the fool, lol.

Laura--sorry for the long game last night and losing as well.

Becky--I just made fiddleheads the other night for my dad, he hadn't had them in ages, my mother and him used to go pick them years ago when they were first married. I love me some fiddleheads!!! Enjoy them! Wishing John a safe and stomach issue free trip!;)

Ann--Congrats to your neice!! I have to go buy plants next week for here too.

Bigmerle--Glad the hair came out nice, smart to wait on the drinks!!

Lauren--I hope that A's game is win!

Kat--Thanks for the PM offer, you know I will take you up on it before this is all over with.

I am sure I Missed someone/thing so sorry

Supper tonight is homemade chicken noodle soup that has been in the crockpot all day simmering, We need some serious comfort food around here and it is cold and rainy too, in fact we have a fire going in the fireplace to get the dampness out of the house.

We just got back from Ruby's. Dinner was good then we headed to Coldstone Creamery for dessert.

We decided to go for flowers tomorrow instead, DH cut the lawn today and I did grocery shopping.

DN won their second playoff game 4-1.

Kathy, that sauce sounds exactly what I was looking for thanks.

I have had crab cakes at a local place and they serve it with a roasted pepper sauce...here is one I found:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_19374,00.html

Red Pepper Sauce:
1 (8-ounce) jar roasted red peppers, drained, or 1 large freshly prepared roasted red pepper
1 cup mayonnaise or reduced fat mayonnaise
1/2 cup prepared chili sauce

This sounds great too... 3 ingrediants , I love that! Thanks

Wendie - Chicken soup sounds perfect for you. It is the ultimate comfort food.

Kathy -- Your remoulade recipe sounds good.

Lauren -- My mom makes a roasted pepper sauce to go with crabcakes, and it is good. If I HAD to pick, I would choose a mustard sauce, but having both is even better.

Ann -- My parents once had a blueberry chutney served with crabcakes in Maine. My mom said it was the most delicious combination she had ever had. She has never been able to replicate it though. I'm glad your niece's team won.

Liam's team lost again on a very damp, dreary, cold, blustery and miserable afternoon. I was so glad my neighbor asked Caili over to play so Caili didn't have to suffer through the game. Luckily, he doesn't have another one until next Saturday.

I was chilled when we got home -- Wendie's chicken noodle soup would have tasted great -- so I took some lasagna out of the freezer, made a salad and heated up some bread. It's not a meal I would normally be having on May 31, but I needed it today.

Liam has a tryout tomorrow morning for summer baseball, and then we are going to Beck's to have chicken from what I've read. Have a good Sunday everyone!

Here I thought our Panini's looked and tasted good then I come to the computer and see this

Hello all. Had a great day although it didn't start out that way. Went to a cookout at the big boss's house. She lives on a creek off of the Chesapeake Bay and you can see the Chesapeake Bay bridge from her back yard. It was getting close to the time to go and it started thunderstorming.

I and another coworker rode together and got about halfway there when I had to stop and park for a while. It had rained so much so fast that the road surface, which is that concrete stuff not asphalt, was covered in water and I started to hydroplane. She and I sat in a gas station parking lot for about 45 minutes until it started to clear up. About 30 minutes after we got there the sun started shining and cleared completely up and ended up being beautiful.

We had some good food including an Indian dish one lady brought that was so good, she told us it was homemade cheese, I think it's called Paneer cheese

I made Starbucks toffee bars, I'll post the recipe tomorrow, it's upstairs in the kitchen.

I am making spaghetti and meatball stoup today with bread.

Take a gander over to weather.com and type in 37311. You'll see what I'm up to this morning. :scared1:

Glynis, have a wonderful trip. I have to admit I am jealous!:goodvibes

Becky, looks like John got another great meal before he left. I wish him a good trip. :thumbsup2 Lucky man!

Laura, blueberry chutney sounds nice, but I can just hear Ron now if I served him fruit with crab! :rotfl:

:offtopic: DN has the big match-up tomorrow in the playoffs. The two topseeds play each other. We knew the time would eventually arrive...fingers crossed!

WFD- Shake & bake boneless pork chops, glazed orange marmalade carrots and salad. (oh yeah, applesauce too!)

Ann

Becky, Looks great as usual! Fiddleheads! Brought backsome memories...I have only had them once. At my brother's first wedding in NH...I remember them being really good. Not many places here sell them though.

Wendie, Sending lots of hugs to you!   Please feel free to PM me as well if you need anything.

Laura, Sorry for the team's loss...good luck to Liam today!

Ann, Sending luck and pixie dust to your neice and her team.
pixiedust: :cheer2:

Hello all. Had a great day although it didn't start out that way.

Glad you got to the party safely and had fun!

******************************
Andrew's game was rained out yesterday and they do not have to replay that one...tonight he has his first playoff game. We are down to 9 players since one of the boys broke his thumb last week. We may take a kid from another team. Wish us luck!!!

Tom and I are trying to get this hole closed in the yard this week...so we went to Home Depot and Lowes yesterday then went out to Applebee's so tonight I will make something quick from Market Day before the game...its at 7pm :scared1: ...probably cheese burgers and some type of sides.

Have a great day all!
