The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Oh Glynis, the ceremoney is making me teary. It must have been so moving. What wonderful news for your family. You have wanted that new little addition and soon he will be here. Is he a he??????or a she???? Now I can't wait!

We won't know for a while. I'm only about 7 and a half weeks along. Gotta wait to find out the color! Jacob is hoping for a brother! He even volunteered to share his room with the new baby!

Glynis - CONGRATS!!

Thanks! And thanks for the smilie!!! It's too cute! (bib color is what we're hoping for, too!!!)

Empanadas con queso

Looks tasty, I'm saving it - thanks!

Good afternoon, everyone!

Carissa's funeral this morning was beautiful! There were over 500 people in attendance. It was awesome! At the cemetery, we had a balloon release. All her cousins, and nephews let white balloons go. It was nice. She belonged to a riding club, and they were all there on their horses (including a riderless horse) to lead the way to the cemetery.

Anyway, not too sure what we are having for dinner. I'm not feeling too much like cooking or eating. If you take a look at my siggie, you'll see why!

Oh, that funeral sounds so gorgeous and meaningful. I hope it brought comfort to you and the rest of her family. What a loss.

And big CONGRATS!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Yum! I love food threads. It helps me spice up my menu. Tonight we are having PB&J on homemade bread that is in the oven right now. I will also cut up some fruit and have some baby carrots on the side. That was supposed to be dinner last night, but I forgot to thaw the bread dough! So, we are substituting our cereal dinner with PB&J, LOL! It's quite adventerous over here, eh?

Welcome! :dance3:

We ended up at Chipotle. Yum!

Hullo Glynis!

Congrats to you and Alan!

Rick sends his congrats too- I told him and his response? "I didn't do it":rotfl2:

Obviously:lmao:

That's why I adopt all of our single friends as my children.....:sad2:

My cup runneth over now, and I don't have to worry about paying for college.

Welcome! Do you cook in the clay roaster often? I used to use mine but somehow it got pushed to the back of the cabinet.

I don't use it as often as I should. I only use it for pot roast and whole chickens.

Tonight was Greek Stewed Chicken over orzo. This is the first time I have tried this recipe. The recipe called for cinnamon and the aroma while it was cooking was just wonderful!

I haven't been there in so long. I may have to break the diet this weekend for that.

I think I am going to make Baked Shrimp Eggrolls tomorrow night. That and some Egg Drop soup.

Thanks, Kathy, for starting this new thread. And thanks, Lauren, for letting me know about it.

I think I have to work the snack shack....oh what fun!

I hope it was cleaner than the one I helped out in when my brother was playing!

I'm still in mourning over last night's meeting.

I'm sorry you had a rough night.

My daughter and I just had a great morning! We drove to the beach and saw tons (literally) of whales. We say humbacks and right whales, and also some dolphins. We didn't even need our binnoculars. What a great day to spend the morning.

That sounds terrific! The kids, Greg and I went to the aquarium today, but it wasn't quite like seeing the mammals out in the open ocean. Is your beach on the North Shore? We are on the South Shore.

Welcome back, Gretchen!

Sheryl, that picture is great! Caili would love that. I am going to show her it tomorrow.

Congratulations, Glynis!

Like I said, we went into Boston today and we had dinner at Summer Shack. Greg and I shared raw oysters from Wellfleet and fried Rhode Island style calamari. I had grilled swordfish with pineapple salsa and jasmine rice and Greg had a scallop dish with fennel slaw. Liam had a cheeseburger, and Caili had the fish and chips. Maybe I will cook tomorrow.

I ended up with Long John Silvers for lunch AND asked for extra crispies, then Chipotle for dinner, so I figured my diet was shot for the day so I dug into the frozen chocolate chips in the freezer door! :rotfl2:

I'll try harder tomorrow...

We had a Mother/Daughter thing at the school this evening, so a bunch of us Mothers (and daughters) met at Chick Fil-A for dinner.. easy :)

Glynis - CONGRATS!!!!!!! I'm so glad for both of you.

Kathy - I hope you are feeling better tonight. My headaches are finally getting better, probably because I finally broke down and got some decent allergy medication. After a week or so, I realized this is what the rest of the world must feel like. I no longer sleep with the buckwheat pillow over my eyes and the dark circles are lightening up some. Who knew?

Laura - I've missed so much that I didn't even realize Greg was home. I hope you guys are having a great time. I'm sure the kids are over the moon to have Dad home.

Aimee - Fat and carbs, honey. Sounds like a good remedy for a tough couple of days.

Well last Friday and Saturday I was really bad. :rolleyes1 I had the Chick-fil-A Coffee Caramel Shake with a grilled sandwhich and then later that night had a piece of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. The next morning I had a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Croissant meal from Burger King. :scared:

I made the mistake of looking the calories up for Burger King and all I can say is, OH MY STARS! My Dietician is going to get me. :scared1: I was truthfull in writing that down, I am not telling her about the milkshake and cheesecake the night before. :rolleyes1

I did lose a pound last week! :upsidedow

Oh I forgot, they were talking about Wright (?) whales off the coast of Cape Cod on the news today. Said this was the first time in a long time that that many were seen together like that.

Wow, have I missed alot on this thread. I feel out of the loop, but from what I scanned quickly...

Glynis- What an exciting time, enjoy every minute of it! :cloud9: Congratulations!

Kathy- :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work, quitting is not easy!

Ann

Sadly the tough days are too many and I can't continue to eat like this. I've gained a dress size since February. :headache:

Congrats on the pound! I have been trying to stick to Sparkpeople again but I am not even bothering today. I can't even imagine...

I do thank y'all for your kind words. It's been difficult for me to know people I love and care about are hurting and I can't fix it. It's truly not my job to fix it but I want them to feel welcome and a part of the family and I can't play that role fully. So I just listen, offer suggestions when I can, and give them a big hug. What more can I do? And if they end up leaving, which most do, I at least know we are on good terms and I was able to minister to them through it all (even if I didn't agree with them).

It's painful to see grown men cry. I know it's sexist but let's face it - most women cry often. Something about watching a father cry just kills me. :sad1:

We have a long hard road ahead of us, and it won't be easy, but in the end the place will be a better place for all. I'm sure of that.

Hi all! I thought I would join. I have heard so many good things from the New Orleans Ladies!

WFD- tonight was tacos ala Stephanie. I take 1 whole onion, chopped, 1 red pepper, chopped, and about 1 c chopped carrots, and a few cloves of minced garlic and cook them over medium heat in 2c water(or beef broth) and a packet of taco seasoning. Cook until the veggies are a little soft but still a little firm.

Then I brown 3/4 lb of ground beef and 3/4 lb ground turkey. Add another packet of taco seasoning and veggies. bring to a simmer.

Serve with taco shells, romaine lettuce, chopped tomatoes, cheese, whatever else you like on tacos.

My DH loves this and so do my kids. It is super easy and great way to sneak veggies into my boys. It has turned a not so healthy meal into a veggie filled treat.

Good Morning!

Hi MrsKreamer! Welcome!

Glynis, I am so happy for you! Congrats!

Kat, Congrats to you on the non smoking! :cool1: I hope you're feeling better today.

We are supposed to go to Home Depot and to dinner but I am not sure I feel up to going out so it may be chicken stir fry over rice.

Have a great day all!
