I thought you couldn't request the room view in a CL room? From what the guy at DVC told me when we reserved, you get a pool view or savanna view. How did you get your savanna view guaranteed?

Villas and rooms are completely different. If you are in a CL DVC villa you will be on the 6th floor and they will not guarantee the view. One side faces the pool, the other side has partially obstructed savanna views because of the way the roof goes.

Hold the phone, so if I just rented a room at AKL on CL, I'm guaranteed savanna view, but if I idiotically decide to purchase DVC and get a CL room, I'm not?

I want a refund!!!! Really, that's kind of messed up.

Well,

We had a pool view CL villa in '09 and it was fine. There are only 10 CL villas total, and that's if they are all booked as studios and 1 bedroom. Since there are so few it is just luck of the draw.

Hey everyone!!

We finally booked our March trip and it will be at AKL!

After jumping through hoops for my friend to book it with her CM discount, 3 different CMs not being able to locate the reservation with the confirmation number, and me finally getting the email but with just the room only total and with it not including the DDP price even though it says CM 50 + DDP.
I hopefully think everything is set but I'm going to call in a few days to double check before calling DME!!

We're booked in a Standard room. Last time we paid and upgraded to a Savanna view = worth it!

HAVE YOU BOOKED A STANDARD ROOM AND WERE ACTUALLY GIVEN A STANDARD ROOM? ANY PICS OF WHAT THE STANDARD ROOM VIEWS LOOK LIKE??
We could have upgraded to Pool but it was another $100 = not worth it IMO so I figured I won't make any room requests and see what we get..maybe nothing since it's a CM room discount but either way, it will be nice to stay somewhere different since I stayed at POP, YC, WL, and CSR last year!

I have a question about booking at Kidani Village. We are DVC members. We are booked in a standard view 2 bedroom. I am waitlisted for a Value View Room, what are the chances of getting a value. Are these only in the Jambo house? This will be our first time at AKL!

I'm not sure of the chances but the CM told me those go fast. They are only in the Jambo House.

So excited -- I have always wanted to stay at AKL. A friend who has DVC booked for us. We were in SSR, but waitlisted for a studio at AKL -- and it came through today! We'll be at Kidani for two nights in February!!

I'm looking forward to mining this topic for info. I've visited most of the WDW resorts, but haven't even been to the lobby here. I'm thrilled!

What's your favorite AKL-vicinity breakfast? Boma? Mara? Rainforest? Tusker House? We may splurge on a late breakfast our last day.

You may want to reconsider the Pool View Room - the rooms are very convenient to everything at the resort (restuarants, lobby - bus stop, gift shop ... the pool!! ) - and you get a nice view of the pool area (instead of the parking lot ...)

IMHO - a Pool View room is worth the extra 10-or-so $$ a night ...

Yes. You can request near Rafiki elevator - it goes down to the parking garage and then right across the drive to the pool.

There are 2 place to refill mugs at Kidani - one in the gift shop in the lobby and the other is at the pool bar. Both are self service.

Yes, there is a pool bar and I have been told you can use your CS credits there, but I have never tried it. We used Mara at Jambo house for our CS meals.

Just changed our plans to a split stay with AKL for our last 3 nights!!! So excited. I'm keeping it a secret from my dd8 and my mom (this is our Mother's Day girls only trip). They think we are booked at POP for all 8 nights.

I was able to swing the 3 nights because I had a 40% off pin code. I booked the Standard View. Now I am second guessing myself and wondering if I should have upgraded that to Savanna view. On the one hand, we will probably not get another chance to stay at AKL. On the other, I don't see us spending too much time in our room...

For those who have stayed in a Standard View - did you feel like you were missing out? Will we regret our choice?

A couple questions:

What size are the coffeemakers in Kidani studios? 4-cup? 8-cup?

Are any coffee packs provided in the rooms?

If we need to bring coffee filters from home, should we bring cone or traditional?

Are the shampoos & soaps provided in the DVC villas larger than in the regular room?
