Disney has won many awards for the skills of thier lifeguards. I think they're rated as one of the top lifeguards in the country, if I remember correctly. They all go through rigorous training and continuous retraining. (Now if only they could train me how to spell...)

After staying at the more expensive hotels in WDW, I can't express how happy I am to return back to Value resorts! Now I'm not saying those other resorts weren't fun, but all I want in a hotel is food that doesnt take long to get, a clean room, and some nice pools, all of which POP seems to have!

Less than two days argh...

I AM SURE THEY HAVE! I NEVER SEEN SUCH "LIFEGUARDING' LIKE THAT BEFORE.:fish:
It is quite amazing to watch them work. However I just don't remember such professionalism in the other 2 resorts I visited.
In fact, I don't think they had any in the CBR at the smaller pools.
I could be wrong!

Thanks to all who posted. I had tried mapquest with no luck. I will try expedia, But I have a question? Why do I have to use victory way?

Victory Way is the short road that Pop Century's main entrance is on, and the only one that will come up.

Before I checked Spiritair.com and saw they were letting people switch their reservation..well guess what happened!!

Well we SWITCHED our vacation!!

We were charged a total of $0.00 by Spirit and Disney!

Instead of going tommorow until Tuesday (August 12-17), we are now going Monday until Saturday (August 16-21).

The price increase of teh flight was $600 and we don't have to pay one cent!!!

The lady from Disney on the phone was amazing , friendly, and in about 3 minutes changed our reservation!!

I'm excited again!!

Hey,

Well this stinks. I'm excited abotu leaving on Monday, but then I see and think about what's happened to everyone else in Florida. I already feel guilty that I'll be at a place trying to have a good time while other's are suffering. Well the best to everyone in Florida, hopefully everyone will recover, re-build, and come out stronger then ever!

Sorry for posting twice, I guess this thread dissapeared for a few days since I last posted :(

Mike, I'm so glad you were able to change your dates. (My computer crashed and I haven't been able to get online since 8/10). When Charley hit Florida, I thought of your family - glad to learn you weren't there. Hurricanes can be so devastating. This one was especially brutal in that Tampa was prepared for the direct hit, then Charley made a turn and struck Punta Gorda head on with little warning.

We're all so sorry for the people in Florida who have suffered tremendous loss.

All the pieces fell into place for your family -- things turned out for you as they were supposed to. Have a wonderful time - make sure you post a trip report when you get home.

Well here I sit at the computer, when I should be sleeping. But you see, it's not that I don't want to sleep I just can't :) I even took medicine for my allergies which I was sure would knock me out, no luck lol.

We are leaving here at 5am and getting to LaGuardia hopefully by 5:45am. I keep going from excited to nervous about flying, but once I get in the air I always am fine.

I should just stop forcing myself to sleep and if I stay up the four hours, I could always fall asleep at POP after we arrive since we don't go to the parks the first day!

Mike

Pkdcoastrs,

Try this, take along a portable CD or tape player with some soothing music and plug in on the plane. The music may help with the engine noise and you can sleep then. It's nice you're taking a day flight. You can see MCO when you arrive and know you're evan closer to WDW.

Me, I'm taking a red eye.

Oh, I think Tyler was right.

Now that he's gone from Pop it doesn't seem there are as many posters.

Only been about seven or so posts since last week.

C'mon everybody, let's keep this thread on page one.

Show the skeptics Pop a great resort. Eventhough I have not been there yet.

Did I not see a post from TYLER a day or so ago? It has a new picture and said Tyler from Transportation. I could be wrong but I thought I did see it.

yep, tyler is still posting around the dis-boards... i believe the former poster was refering to tyler no longer working at pop!

soo... my pop vacation is only a week and a half out... as i drove friends to the airport this morning, i realized that two weeks from today i will be waking up in disney world! and i am soooo looking forward to it! cannot wait!

the first thing my children want to do is swim in the bowling pin pool... it may be hard to drag them out! i am also looking forward to frozen cokes in my souvenier mug and getting a first hand look at disney's newest resort!

what is everyone else looking forward to at pop?

We'll be there in 27 days & we can't wait!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We've already started packing & can't stop talking about what we're going to do & when. I can't wait to get to POP & get our mugs. I'm excited to get my picture with the huge Tramp & Baloo - one of my all-time favorites. We can't wait to come back to POP in the afternoons for a nice break from the heat in the Hippie-Dippie Pool. So many things to look forward to - still too much time on the counter! :)

I can't wait to get my picture by the huge Mickey phone. I always wanted one of those when I was younger, but my dad didn't want me to have a phone in my room until I was older ;)

We will be at Pop from Oct 22-28, didnt think we were going to be able to go this year and when I looked in junk mail there was the famous post card.

I cant wait.:earseek:

DH and I liked our stay at Pop so much we're using it again as our arrival hotel instead of a Priceline WDW one on Don's extravagant birthday trip. I figured it was only about $15 more and I really want some more frozen coke! LOL

Pop is really a great place and Tyler's thread is what got me to try a Value for the first time.

Hi poohangel and the rest of the POPs!

DW and I just got back from WL last Thursday (Hurricane Charley cut short our visit), feeling sadder than usual because we just didn't get our Disney fill this year:(

But, then I remembered I had received one of those "famous postcards"...and before an hour had passed I had booked us for 4 nights at POP starting 12/1:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yee ha...we get to be at Disney during the Christmas season fo the first time ever ... and we get to try a new resort ,. So anyway, I'll try to keep you folks on your toes by asking lots of questions over the next several months.

Here's my first:

Since Lady and the Tramp are my DW's and my favorite Disney characters, there's no doubt where we're going to request a room...I'm curious about overall guest preferences. I'm guessing that 50's and 60's are far more popular than 70's 80's or 90's. Am I right?
