The All New Pop Century FAR OUT FAQ Thread!

I am so excited--I just made the hotel and flight reservations for a spur of the moment trip with my 4yo! I suppose that I should add that trip to my counter. After reading the info about Pop Century we will be staying there. We got an AP rate (need to get that AP) of $49/night plus tax so I'm happy about that. We'll be making a side trip to Universal (we have APs for there that expire soon), but the rest of the week will be hanging out at WDW.

I'm sure that I'll have questions about Pop Century as I get closer to February.

Oh, one thing. When I made the ressie I asked for the 70's building and was told that it is preferred. I didn't remember reading that on here. I thought just the 60's building was preferred. Can someone confirm one way or the other?

Thanks, T&B

We stayed in the 70's section this past week and did not pay for the preferred section. I would call back to double check. Perhaps the CM was mistaken. :earsgirl:

*bangs head on desk*

You are correct... ONLY the 60's buildings (buildings 4 and 5) are preferred. The 70's (buildings 6 and 10) are NOT preferred.

:D

Another Night to my POP ressie!::yes:: I am arriving on Friday Jan. 30 around 1:00pm!:bounce: Thats a total of 6 nights!:hyper:

:bounce: After 4 days of checking out male CM chests I finally found Tyler. Soooo... ladies just to save time- you need only check out the smiling strawberry blonde ones to see if you have found the right one to thank for all his work here.

Easter Weekend? And, Tyler will you be working that weekend?

Also, since the hours are not out yet, will we experience a problem getting to MK for an 8:00 a.m. PS?

DD is so excited to be going!

Thanks in advance.

Could somebody tell me if there is shampoo/conditioner and soap in the value resorts? We've never been to Disney and I haven't a clue. Do I need to bring these things or not?

Thanks to you and NJGirl. That's what I thought, but I wasn't going to argue with the reservationist, especially since I wasn't positive.

Awww, how cute. So how how is Tyler??? He'd have to be real young to not be too old for my 16yo daughter. ;) She won't be with me this trip, though, so I can check him out for her next trip. She does want to move to Florida! Tyler never imagined the ribbing that he would take by volunteering to help people out!

Maybe if your daughter was 21....

The Pop had a bottle of shampoo/conditioner typical hotel quality and facial and bath soap bars. Others apparently have dispensers of the same.

Just booked 3 rooms for 2 nights March 18th & 19th before our 7 night cruise. When Dh made reservations they did not ask what building we wanted. He did request that all three rooms be near each other in NON SMOKING. We land around noon and don't have big plans for the first day. Can we request early check in? Two of the people in our group are 76 and will be ready for a much needed break?
Our group has a mix of ages, from 17 months old to 76 years. 13 people in all.
Also we have the hummerzine scheduled for pick up on Sat around 11:30 for our ride to the port. This is the best time slot open. Since check out is at 11:00 can we request a little later check out so we are not sitting in the lobby for half an hour?

Thanks, tcfdick and 3MGIRLS for the tip on bring your own laundry detergent instead of buying it :D

Another easy way to bring your own detergent is to buy the laundry tablets. They are individually wrapped so they won't spill or make a mess. Have Fun!!!

You may check in at any time. Whether or not your rooms will be ready, that cannot be guaranteed. However, typically the less picky you are on location, the better chances they have of finding you a currently available room.

You may also request late check-out, which would be 1pm.

Checked in today..and on the way to check in, hubby and I stopped to say a brief hi to a busy Tyler.

Love the resort...reminds me a lot of POR, with the winding sidewalks near the water. How ice to be in a brand new room..so very clean.

The pools are very nice..kids seem to love the squirting area. Kids from up north are seimming, even though the weather is chilly for Florida..I find it nice to be 50 degrees warmer than NY!

The food court is very nice, and food looks wonderful and reasonable in price. I love using my computer while sitting at the table, with the plu right there. The curtains are a real plus, the way they close nice and tight..they should have those at all the resorts. And the bigger TV..another plus.

"See" you all when we get back!

This is such a great thread - so much wonderful information - thanks Tyler! It is great now people have visited and they can give info & feedback too!!

My DH & I like hunting for Hidden Mickeys - I assume there will be some at Pop Century. Tyler do you know, or has anyone else spotted any?
We can't wait to be there!

Tyler, is the water heated in the water jet area?

I understand that there are 4 floors. Are there some ground level rooms or are they all or mostly handicapped rooms? I'll have a stroller and it would be faster to not have to wait for the elevator. And I won't have my husband with me to carry the stroller up the stairs. :)

Thanks, T&B

Tyler has said there are some hidden Mickeys. We don't really get into the hidden Mickeys so I haven't paid much attention. However, I know he showed us one in his pictures. Here is the website. It's in the Jungle Book picture.

Thanks Tyler,
We don't care what building we are in as long as we have NON SMOKING rooms. Should we request the late check out as soon as we check in or do we need to wait until the next morning?

Although the water is heated in Goofy's Pop Jet area, the air remains the same temperature. So, if it's cold out, the water will be warm, but it'll still be cold.

As for ground level rooms, they are no different from upper level floors. If you check the first page of this thread, it lists the room mix. You'll see the vast majority of the rooms are of the standard kind.

In regards to Elevators... as someone who uses them 10-20 times per day every day, all around the property, I've really never waited more than 60 seconds for an elevator.

You mean you don't heat the air around the water jets??? What happened to Disney Magic? ;)

I like the idea of the water jets. Means my little guy can play in the water and I don't have to get wet. Works for me since I'm a real water wimp.

I won't worry too much about what floor I'm on. It's not like I don't need the exercise!

Thanks for your help! T&B
