Man! I don't check my e-mail for a day and look at all the questions I miss. Tyler, you win.

Hehehe.

Like I said before, I'm glad to see everyone so excited about the new resort.

See you all at Pop!

Tyler or EJ (or anyone else for that matter :) ),
I know you guys are busy, but if you get a chance to answer...what is your take on MLK weekend attendance? I'm still in the planning stages but thinking Jan. 14-19 (Wed - Mon) at Pop Century. Will the MLK holiday really affect crowds that much? Also, do you think it would be less crowded the week before the holiday as opposed to the week OF the holiday?

Thanks for any info/advice!

WDW attendance drops dramatically following New Years Day, so any time in January is a safe bet for visiting the parks.

However, I do know that the weekend you mentioned, is the single busiest weekend that Pop! will see in its first few months, setting the record for the busiest single site single day in WDW Resort history.

So you may want to think twice before coming to Pop. But that's just my two cents. If anyone else has any ideas, please feel free to chime in.

Also, it doesn't hurt to try calling CRO and seeing what is available.

yikes! any particular problems you might anticipate ...like I'm guessing we should eat elsewhere. we arrive on the 10 and leave the 19 so check in wouldn't matter but check out might???
Thanks

btw any "official "menu for everything pop yet??( nothing like looking gift horses in the mouth :) !)

YUCK! We are arriving on the 17th. Right smack dab in the middle of that weekend. Why is Pop so busy vs. other resorts?

I really have no idea why, all I know is that the 16th of January will be a record breaker.

jann1033, no menu released yet, as far as I know...it's been through a lot of changes and I don't even know if it's in stone yet. In regards to checking out being a hassle, if you use express checkout, you wouldn't even have to worry about it.

Madi100, I don't know if it will still be crowded on the 17th. So far, we have had quite a few of single-nighters, so who knows, maybe some of those may have checked out by the time you get there.

Tyler and I should know some more details as the weekend gets closer.

See you at Pop!

I am wondering if the CM's at CRO were encouraged to recommend PC cause when we were calling about APs most of them did unless they just figured there were vacancies there...but guess if so they did a really good job filling it!

I'm not a WDW veteran, so this might be a dumb question, but are coffee makers in every room, or do you have to ask for them, or pay for them? What about the coffee itself? SHould we bring our own?

At Pop, coffee makers are not in the rooms. The only place coffee is available is at Everything Pop! (the food court).

Could the reason be why attendance will be so large on Jan 17 (right date?) is the fact that there will be some kind of big cheerleader competitions at the Wide World of Sports? Here's the link:

http://dwws.disney.go.com/wideworld...geventindex?id=SPORCollegeCheerDance04SporEvn

I have heard that ususally these type of competitions usually use the All Star resorts but maybe the numbers are so high that they had to put them up at Pop. I could be wrong though. I paid close attention to this since I will be there from 1/14 to 1/22 and because my daughter's birthday is on 1/19. I hope those college kids don't dominate the parks!

I hope they are better behaved the the kids groups that must have just tormented the allstars from a few posters who were there at the same time. yikes and yikes ( know the above makes me sound really old but while I don't normally care, i don't want to be kept up all night.)

Well, let me tell you that I MET TYLER!

Pop Century has an excellent layout. The place is huge yet close together without being crowded.

We stayed in the 50's building. Room 5136. Looking out our window you could see across hourglass lake. The whole resort grounds were beautiful. We did a lot of walking around the resort to get a feel for how far things were from each other. There won't be a bad room to stay in.

Although, I am very sad to report that they are not serving fluff filled french toast. I was told that it didn't go over well on the testing. Everyone said it was gross.

There are 3 "islands" that you can get your soda and coffee from. one side is for soda and the other is for hot drinks. There is a toasting machine on every island. There are microwaves on every island.

It was just so cool

I will have my pictures ready in a day or so.

It's not just us... all the other resorts will be busy as well. However, because we're the new fad, and have value priced rooms, more people will choose Pop Century. That, and don't forget, we have 2,880 rooms.

Once I see how Friday goes, I think I'll have a better feeling about how Jan 16th will go. But, bottom line, I really wouldn't worry about it. I think things will go just fine... after all, with an awesome Front Office team like ours... we can handle just about anything :)

If you're checking in on the 17th, you'll be all set. I don't anticipate a large turn on that day.

I'm, too, curious as to why the 16th will be busy. Is it because it's the start to the holiday weekend? And, will it be a very busy day at the deluxes, too?

It's an extended holiday weekend, so many Florida Residents and other folks from around the country will be coming down to enjoy it.

WE MET TYLER TOO! Woo Hoo!
LOVED Pop Century. Will definitely be going back.

ebaynut31 - was good to meet you.

Just wondering if powerade is offered on the drink islands? Let's hope with all these new rooms, they keep the discount codes coming!!:earsboy: :earsboy:

I will be checking in on Jan 17th too. When I planned this trip months ago I didnt even realize it was MLK weekend. Will the whole week be busy or just the weekend? We were planning a few down days in the middle of our trip but maybe we should plan on doing them early.

Thanks Tyler for putting this thread together. After reading this I am so glad I picked PC instead of ASMo - my first choice months ago when DS was still a Buzz Lightyear nut. I cant wait to see PC! Only a month to go!

So, Tyler -- is that this Friday you are talking about? If so, what do we need to expect? We are checking in Friday afternoon (Whooo-Hooo!!!). Just wondering. Thanks for all your help and info (you too, EJ!).

See ya Friday! :bounce:
