LuvMySoldier, thanks for the pics!! I love that one of the pool - i may switch that to my screen saver if that's ok by you!! :) Only ONE WEEK to go!

im glad you guys liked the pictures! most of them were taken the first morning i was there. it was absolutely perfect weather and i woke up early so i decided to take a walk. there was no one around, except a few castmembers by the pool, and it was the most peaceful way to start my vacation. just thinking about that morning is bringing tears to my eyes because it was just so perfect. the poly is such a magical place and i cant wait to return.

It is a beautiful place. Your pictures show how incredible it is. Many thanks. I can't wait till our trip in Dec. We have waited many years to take this trip and we finally will get to celebrate our 38th anniversary there - MK view!:thumbsup2

I have to say the poly is the BEST Disney Resort, IT IS PURE MAGIC. I would like to propose on the beach their during wishes!

I proposed to my wife at the Poly beach just before Wishes. We ate a wonderful dinner at Narcossee's and strolled along th ebeach from the GF to the Poly. When we got to the Poly about 15 min before Wishes started I found us a perfect spot near the water. Then with about 5 min to spare I told DW I would be right back and started to walk twoards the water. In my pocket I hide a bottle with a poem I wrote in it and when I got to the water I said "Look what I found honey." and made it look like I pulled the bottle out of the water. I walked back to her and told her I found this bottle in the water and it had some kind of letter in it. I opened the bottle got down on one knee and proceeded to read a poem that I wrote asking her to marry me. She of course said yes and was so surprised. :lovestruc It was such a beautiful moment. Then we shared some happy tears and Wishes began. It was the perfect finale to the most magical evening I could have ever imagined. If you are going to do a proposal in Disney you cant really find a more romantic spot then the Poly, unless you are in front of Cinderella Castle. Let me know if you need any advice.

I am a newby to this thread. We will be staying at the Poly for our first time Nov. 30 - Dec. 9 and I am so excited. :cool1: I have only read 9 pages, but have picked up some very valuable tips. I plan to read the rest of this thread tomorrow. Thanks!

You get an A++!

What a fabulous surprise :cheer2: You can do it! I'm sure the look on her face will be worth the agony of keeping quiet :dance3:

Here is a recipe I found for it:

Lapu Lapu
Tambu Lounge

1 oz. Meyer's Rum
1/2 oz. Bacardi 151
Scorpion Mix (half and half sour mix and orange juice)
Garnish: Cherry
Served in a pineapple

Source: disneyecho.com

No pineapple juice?:confused3

Okay one more question... the only thing that my husband is upset about with the Disney hotels is the lack of variety in TV channels. Seeing that I have a 22 month old, we do spend a lot of time at the hotel. We subscribe to Netflix, so I was wondering if I brough mmy cheapo target DVD player, do you think we could hook it up to the TV in the room?

Giving this a bump in case anyone knows for sure. The TVs do have outlets in the front.:confused3

All right. I couldn't resist. 28 day-FOUR WEEKS!- and we are there! DME tags came last week. I am SO ready for a hotel holiday! Keep posting and making me happy that I have booked (my very first!) MK view at Poly!

Almost there!:cool1:

How odd that they come in a pineapple and don't have any pineapple juice in them! I'm not a drinker but i think I hear thease calling my name already for my Dec. trip :lmao:

LOL, besides rum the only thing I was "sure" of was pineapple juice. :rotfl:Going to need to do some more tasting myself. :drinking1

Yes it is. It was my first WDW resort waaaay back. We had just moved to the US from Wales (we're not Welsh, we're Canadian) and I remember counting down on a calendar in our kitchen. It was a long flight and when we finally arrived and were in our room, my dad (who was killed in a car accident a few years later) was like a big kid, jumping up and down and saying, "We're here! We're here!" I'll never, ever forget that trip!

Is there anything different about a HC accessible room? I will have an ecv but can walk, just need it for distance and getting around at the world. I don't want to take a room that might be needed by someone who can't walk.
TIA

Yes, the bathrooms are configured differently. They have either a rollin shower or a tub with grab bars. No partition as there is in other Polynesian bathrooms. I agree that it is better not to request one unless you need those accommodations.:goodvibes

How fun! :cake: Good luck keeping your surprise.

I know I asked this before, but I didn't see a response... has anyone brought a small dvd player with them to hook up to the TV? My hubby hates the selection of channels and I thought since we had netflix, this might fix this problem.

TIA

We did this on our last trip and it worked great! This year we'll be hooking the iPod up - DH downloaded our movies onto it and we'll hook that up to the TV! We do this in the car too so we don't have to bring the actual DVD's with us.

Just got back yesterday evening from a wonderful week at the Polynesian! This was our third stay there and it was as magical as ever. Honestly, I am hard pressed to think of anything negative at all about the resort. Okay, if I must think of one...the pillows were too squishy for my personal taste lol :rotfl:, but other than that, everything was fabulous!

We arrived on Monday, July 20 around noon. I had not requested a longhouse; just decided to let the pixie dust fall where it may. I did, however, request a balcony. We did regular, not online check in, and there was no one in line. We walked right up to a CM who informed us that we did get a room with a balcony and that the room was ready! It was 3rd floor Fiji, facing the wedding pavilion.

We absolutely loved, loved, loved the room and location. The view was peaceful and beautiful. On nights when the luau was going on, we could hear the drums and music from the balcony...not too loud that it bothered us; just a nice background sound which we enjoyed. The beach right outside the building provided a nice view of the castle. Fiji was so convenient to the Great Ceremonial House. We could be at Captain Cook's or the monorail station in a matter of a few minutes. The walk to the bus stop wasn't bad either. It was a bit of a hike to the TTC from that side of the resort, but no big deal really. Both of our previous stays have been in Samoa which we really, really liked (well, technically we did spend one night in a less than desirable room in Raratonga before being moved to Samoa) but Fiji is our new favorite.

Mousekeeping was excellent. No small kiddoes on the trip so we weren't hoping for any towel animals. We did have a towel Mickey head on the bed when we arrived though. On Tuesday morning, after our first night, I called and requested that our room be made up before 12 noon. The request was granted and it was in fact ready every day thereafter, except Saturday, by noon. I noticed we had a different mousekeeper that day. Supplies, towels, etc. were plentiful and the room was immaculate.

We went to the pool most every afternoon after our daily nap! It seemed pretty crowded and pool chairs were hard to come by, even at the quiet pool.

We ate at Captn Cook's several times. Everything was tasty. We got our money's worth out of the refillable mugs.

CMs were friendly and we were almost always greeted with an "aloha."

To any and all who have upcoming trips, you will have a terrific time at the Polynesian!

Yep you can hook up a dvd player or other electronic device to the front of the tv. It only has a standard RCA (red, yellow, white) hook up though. No Component or HDMI inputs. Oh, and your hubby is right, the tv channel selection is awful at all Disney resorts.

What does the Poly look like at night? Anyone have any pics? Is it all lit up with tiki torches??? That's what I envision!

With 2 days to go, 3 girls 5 and under and a week long stay at the Poly, I for one can say who cares about what is on TV? Between racing to rope drops, hitting character bfasts, and sliding down the volcano pool slide any free time I get well be well spent on my balcony or a hammock on the beach. About the only thing I could desire on the **** tube are some cartoons for the kids for mommy and daddy quiet time. But to each his own.

However, for the amount of money we all gift to Disney for staying here, there really should be some decent selections. Look how many super 8s ( or any other much less expensive place) give you free HBO and cable TV.

Thank you for the report. After 13 years of going to Disney we will make our first trip to the Poly! A little under 8 weeks!!! I'm am so excited! AND, half the fun comes from visiting this thread every day and sharing the joy and anticipation with all the wonderful DISers. Their vast support, wisdom and humor have been invaluable to me as I have planned a dreamed all through the years. What a wonderful community!

I plan to request a room with a balcony as well and am glad to see you were satisfied with your accommodations. Like you, I'm an early riser and am looking forward to that first morning, coffee in hand, looking out across the lagoon and thinking "I'm finally here." I simply cannot wait!

Just got back and I'd have to look for pics... but you just gave me a flashback of last week when I was walking back "home" at midnight with almost no one around and the soft Poly music serenading me as I strolled past tiki torches to my longhouse.:cloud9:

It may not be my favorite YET, but that place has BUNCHES of charm. I fell in love a bit with the Poly that night...

OMG, the poly at night is beautiful and so peaceful. I always sleep with my curtains open so i can stare at the castle and watch the tiki torches light dance around my room.... total heaven.
