The *ALL NEW* Polynesian Resort FAQ thread - *APRIL 2009*

Just got back yesterday evening from a wonderful week at the Polynesian! This was our third stay there and it was as magical as ever. Honestly, I am hard pressed to think of anything negative at all about the resort. Okay, if I must think of one...the pillows were too squishy for my personal taste lol :rotfl:, but other than that, everything was fabulous!

We arrived on Monday, July 20 around noon. I had not requested a longhouse; just decided to let the pixie dust fall where it may. I did, however, request a balcony. We did regular, not online check in, and there was no one in line. We walked right up to a CM who informed us that we did get a room with a balcony and that the room was ready! It was 3rd floor Fiji, facing the wedding pavilion.

We absolutely loved, loved, loved the room and location. The view was peaceful and beautiful. On nights when the luau was going on, we could hear the drums and music from the balcony...not too loud that it bothered us; just a nice background sound which we enjoyed. The beach right outside the building provided a nice view of the castle. Fiji was so convenient to the Great Ceremonial House. We could be at Captain Cook's or the monorail station in a matter of a few minutes. The walk to the bus stop wasn't bad either. It was a bit of a hike to the TTC from that side of the resort, but no big deal really. Both of our previous stays have been in Samoa which we really, really liked (well, technically we did spend one night in a less than desirable room in Raratonga before being moved to Samoa) but Fiji is our new favorite.

Mousekeeping was excellent. No small kiddoes on the trip so we weren't hoping for any towel animals. We did have a towel Mickey head on the bed when we arrived though. On Tuesday morning, after our first night, I called and requested that our room be made up before 12 noon. The request was granted and it was in fact ready every day thereafter, except Saturday, by noon. I noticed we had a different mousekeeper that day. Supplies, towels, etc. were plentiful and the room was immaculate.

We went to the pool most every afternoon after our daily nap! It seemed pretty crowded and pool chairs were hard to come by, even at the quiet pool.

We ate at Captn Cook's several times. Everything was tasty. We got our money's worth out of the refillable mugs.

CMs were friendly and we were almost always greeted with an "aloha."

To any and all who have upcoming trips, you will have a terrific time at the Polynesian!

Glad you had a great time. This makes me even more excited about our first stay at the Poly! Just 2 more weeks and we will be there for our 25th anniversary. I've always wanted to stay at the Poly and I can't think of a better place to celebrate!

Does the Poly offer fun activities daily for the kids?
If so, can anyone describe, or show me a link to that information?
Thanks!!!

I have been reading through this thread for days trying to catch up on all things Poly! We are hoping to stay at the Poly for our December 2010 trip. All 20 of us for a Grand Gathering in 5 separate rooms.

We want to stay in a garden view room but a couple people are worried about what that view really means. I know my mom would not want to look out onto a parking lot! We also want to stay ground floor. Do you think they would honor that request?

Also, does anyone have a map or link to a map of the Poly's grounds? I cannot for the life of me figure out which longhouses would be best to request either. I am usually not one to start requesting things (we typically just take whatever room they give us) but I am trying to please 5 families.

We want to have a nice garden view, on the ground level that is somewhat close to the GCH. Anyone have any thoughts on where we should stay?

Thanks. I am so excited! The Poly looks like such a great place!

OMG, the poly at night is beautiful and so peaceful. I always sleep with my curtains open so i can stare at the castle and watch the tiki torches light dance around my room.... total heaven.

We do the same.
I love to take a walk at night with the tiki torches lit and the music playing. You're right it feels like heaven!:goodvibes

This thread is a great place to start and you've got time enough to read through it all. Another good source of information is the tikiman site - I think its called tikimanpages. He has a lot of detailed info on the longhouses to help you decide, maps, and so much more. Enjoy your planning!:goodvibes

We just returned from our 9th trip to Disney and while at dinner at the Poly our family decided we would like to stay there next year (we usually stay at the Beach Club). We toured around and really loved the resort, I just had one question. There seemed to be so few loungers around the pool, especially any in the shade (I have to have my afternoon pool nap). So, were there loungers somewhere in the shade that I missed? If not, any suggestions? Thanks so much!

When you check in at the Poly, do the CM's take you to your longhouse in a golf cart, or is that only for CL guests?

If you have all your luggage they will take you to your longhouse. They have for us in the past. It's my understanding that if you are CL that you don't need to even go into GCH...they will be expecting you & take you to the Hawaii building.

Hi everyone! Although we have stayed at the Poly several times, I have a few questions:

1. How much time should we budget if we want to be at DHS for rope drop and we are taking the bus? (we usually rent a car, but not this time)

2. Does the sundries shop at the Poly sell loaves of bread? I'm thinking of shipping down some PB & J along with our snacks.

3. I know that the Hawaiian musician is back:thumbsup2, but is he playing in the evenings outside the Tambu Lounge like he used to? That was always our spot to grab a drink and let the girls dance of any last bit of energy before bed.

Mahalo to anyone who can help!

Aloha! Just thought i would throw a few pics in the thread to help with my week wait -- it seems like once you hit the one week mark, the days drag...

does anyone have any pictures of the living room area of the 1-bedroom (2 queens) suite?
I checked tikimans site but didn't see any!

Thanks!

Thank you so much for the great pictures and all the wonderful information. We are coming at the end of September/October.

The Dis and this thread has made planning our next trip to the Poly so much easier. :worship:

I know that you aren't allowed to post a link to tikiman's site but would anyone be willing to PM me with it?

THANKS!!
