We had no problems with our arcade card at the Poly. The arcade at the Contemp is WAY more fun. Just took the monorail over.

Hey everyone! We went to Magic Kingdom for the day for my dd's 7th birthday. (very whirlwind trip there and back, but had a great time!)

We decided to head over to the Poly to check it out and I am now sooo stinkin' excited I can't stand it!!

I have another question about the concierge lounge. My parents (and my sister and BIL as well) are VERY into wine and usually bring a bottle or two of their special collection when they go on vacation. Especially when the whole family is together.

I was wondering if it would be frowned upon if they brought their own bottle into the lounge for the family to drink. I don't drink wine so I don't really care, but was just wanting some opinions. I could see where some might consider tacky, but I also think it would better to share it there as opposed to everyone gathering in one room. Oh and everyone is staying club level so it's not like they would be sneaking anyone in, just to clarify.

What do you think?

I can't imagine that people would think it's tacky. I think it's a fabulous way for your family to celebrate. Anyway, it's less that the poly would have to shell out if you're not drinking their wine.:)
If you are concerned why don't you email IPO to check.

Well I have found on the DIS that some people think things are tacky or inappropriate that I wouldn't think twice about doing :rotfl:

My main concern really wasn't so much that it would be considered tacky by others as would the Poly allow it. So I think I will take you up on your suggestion about contacting them directly (one of those "duh!" moments when I read your post)
Thanks!

That's what I would say. They may have a policy against brinigng in your own booze or wine.

I wouldn't think that the staff in lounge would say a word to you about it. I don't know why they would care. I think it's a great idea to relax in the lounge (that's what it's for anyway) and watch the fireworks with your family while enjoying a tasty glass of vino!!! I might do that myself,hmm....now which wine should I bring, the Bartles and James, or the Manoschevitz????

This was not us brining any of our own Wine, however in the past my mom was has brought some of her own Cereal which are not offered in the lounge and no one said anything about doing that or it being frowned upon.

There's no way that there would be a problem with this. And really...who cares if anyone on this or any other message board would find it tacky? BTW there's nothing tacky about it. I bring my own beer to the Poly and it would never dawn on me to think anyone would have a problem if I drank one while sitting in the lounge. The Poly is not about snobbery although sometimes snobby people stay there and try to convince us otherwise.:rotfl2:

I have to concur w/this... definately check w/the Poly before hand. State laws vary, but you have to consider the different "open container" and "corking" rules in every state. The folks @ the Poly will know exactly what can/can not be done so that no one gets in trouble.

I talked to my TA (had to ask her about something else) as she is a regular to the Poly club level herself and she said they didn't have any type of rule prohibiting bringing in your own alcohol but to bring our own corkscrew...which my parents always do anyway.

The worst that can happen is they tell us we can't, so they go back to the room. And I stumble back after my lapu lapu!;)

Try and think of every little thing you might need while away, so that you don't waste a lot of time and money on things you could've brought from home. Sunscreen, goggles, visor/hat, sunglasses, ponchos, flip flops, magazines/books, snacks to have in the room, (last trip I drove off-site to the nearby Whole Foods) wet wipes, etc. I bring quarters and laundry soap for doing laundry, as well as a tote bag for laundry. I bring my own coffee and filters and buy milk from the resort's food court. I also bring a small pair of scissors, playing cards...

Good luck and have fun!

Regarding the coffee and filters - is there a coffee maker in the room? And if so, will they replenish the coffee you used when you ask for more? Or are you out of luck at that point? Although I think we'll get the refillable mugs (not on CL, darn it) and I'm assuming coffee can go in the mugs as well as soda, right?? Although everyone here has scared me about the coffee at Disney. :scared1: I am NOT a coffee expert by any means but for some reason, when someone else makes it-I love it. I just don't make it for myself when I'm here at home!

I just made the mistake of reading a thread about people who've had snakes in their rooms at DW! :scared1::eek::scared1::eek::scared1::eek::scared1:

At a glance (it was like a trainwreck, I knew I shouldn't be LOOKING at that thread but I couldn't stop myself!!!) I didn't notice any from Poly but I had to come here to ask you all! Please, please be honest - has anyone had a snake in their room and/or bed?? Or lizards in your sheets? Roaches???

I used to live in Florida - grew up in Clearwater - and roaches were pesky. But I have never seen a lizard or snake inside! I would absolutely pee myself and die! Maybe best to request upper floor???

LOL! We use to live in Tampa, those DA** roaches are terrible there!!:scared1: Not to mention, the size of a compact car!:rotfl2:

I live in FL. and I would die if that happened to me :scared1: . Where did you read this thread? I was on a thread and they had a small aligator outside their door at ASMO.
