Just got back yesterday evening from a wonderful week at the Polynesian! This was our third stay there and it was as magical as ever. Honestly, I am hard pressed to think of anything negative at all about the resort. Okay, if I must think of one...the pillows were too squishy for my personal taste lol, but other than that, everything was fabulous!
We arrived on Monday, July 20 around noon. I had not requested a longhouse; just decided to let the pixie dust fall where it may. I did, however, request a balcony. We did regular, not online check in, and there was no one in line. We walked right up to a CM who informed us that we did get a room with a balcony and that the room was ready! It was 3rd floor Fiji, facing the wedding pavilion.
We absolutely loved, loved, loved the room and location. The view was peaceful and beautiful. On nights when the luau was going on, we could hear the drums and music from the balcony...not too loud that it bothered us; just a nice background sound which we enjoyed. The beach right outside the building provided a nice view of the castle. Fiji was so convenient to the Great Ceremonial House. We could be at Captain Cook's or the monorail station in a matter of a few minutes. The walk to the bus stop wasn't bad either. It was a bit of a hike to the TTC from that side of the resort, but no big deal really. Both of our previous stays have been in Samoa which we really, really liked (well, technically we did spend one night in a less than desirable room in Raratonga before being moved to Samoa) but Fiji is our new favorite.
Mousekeeping was excellent. No small kiddoes on the trip so we weren't hoping for any towel animals. We did have a towel Mickey head on the bed when we arrived though. On Tuesday morning, after our first night, I called and requested that our room be made up before 12 noon. The request was granted and it was in fact ready every day thereafter, except Saturday, by noon. I noticed we had a different mousekeeper that day. Supplies, towels, etc. were plentiful and the room was immaculate.
We went to the pool most every afternoon after our daily nap! It seemed pretty crowded and pool chairs were hard to come by, even at the quiet pool.
We ate at Captn Cook's several times. Everything was tasty. We got our money's worth out of the refillable mugs.
CMs were friendly and we were almost always greeted with an "aloha."
To any and all who have upcoming trips, you will have a terrific time at the Polynesian!
Glad you had a great time. This makes me even more excited about our first stay at the Poly! Just 2 more weeks and we will be there for our 25th anniversary. I've always wanted to stay at the Poly and I can't think of a better place to celebrate!
