So, I get that attractions coincide with park closing, but on June 27 & 28 Fantasmic has a showing 30 minutes after park closing. On the 27th there are PM EHM, so I assume the second show is only for those who are onsite guests. On the 28th, however, there aren't EMH, so how does that work, Fantasmic is just 30 minutes after everything else is closed?

That just means that you either go see fantastic or go back to the resort(the rides are closed). We on the other hand, take advantage of everyone leaving or going to see fantastic by walking around the closed park from 9p to whenever. Pretty interesting seeing the park with no one else around!:thumbsup2

We're going too! June 9th - 16th. I'm excited. It's going to be a surprise for the kids.

To Anjalee6: I'm so sorry for your loss. Long life or not, it's a hard thing to get through and it's still incredibly sad, even if it's expected, although I understand this wasn't. Such a gambit of emotions we have to run when that happens, shock, disbelief, sadness, questioning, anger, etc. So sad. It's nice that you have this upcoming trip to look forward to and keep you going. Might help the healing a little.

At any rate, I hope everyone has a great trip. Exciting!

1) Have you received Mickey Mail? If so, what? Nope...we are DVC and don't usually get anything other than our reservation confirmation.

2) Do you pack specific clothes just for Disney (shirts, shoes, etc)? If so, let us know what. Yep. I try to put the boys in some matching shirts or matching colors. I bought them a few new shirts just for the trip. We all have some kind of Mickey or Disney shirts and the boys both have TOT shirts they will probably pack to wear the day of HS park. I may even try to make some Harry Potter themed shirts for our day at IOA too. In the past I've made matching shirts for the WHOLE group...but so far this year I have not done that and don't know if I will.

3) Do you recommend online check-in or not? Why?You know, I've done it in the past and after reading comments this time around I'm not sure if I will or not. Part of me wants to make a room request but another part is thinking I'll just take my chances and see if we get some Disney magic and get a great room. Chances might be good for a Wednesday check-in for us to get something good or even change if we need to do so.

4) Are you making a specific room request? See above...right now no.

5) Name 5 things that we should NOT forget to pack for Disney? Sunscreen, ponchos/rain jackets, cameras with chargers and extra batteries, comfortable shoes, bathing suits!

6) Give a restaurant review of one of the places on the June list that people will be visiting. (see page 1- pick any restaurant and review)Kona Cafe - One of our favorite restaurants and one that used to be easy to book before Dining Plan! I don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. I love the appetizers, especially the sticky wings! We are big meat fans and the prime rib has always been good there too. Desserts are also interesting and delicious! Don't forget to hit the nearby bar at Ohana during your wait for a table and get some pre-dinner drinks too. My DH and his mom love the Lapu Lapu!

7) Give a hotel review for a place on property. Tell someone your favorite thing to do at that hotel. (see page 1- pick an hotel and tell your favorite thing to do)
Animal Kingdom Kidani Village - We stayed at this DVC property only a few days after it opened for the first time in May of 2009 and it is definitely one of our favorites. We loved just sitting out on the balcony and watching the animals from our safari view room. The pool however was definitely the BIGGEST hit from our May 2009 trip. The water slide is one of the BEST on property and fun for adults and kids! We loved sitting by the pool and enjoying the entertainment, they play music and play games by the pool like Trivia and Bingo and give out prizes. It was such fun!

8) Would you be interested in a DisMeet for June? Probably not but if you recognize us please introduce yourselves! I'm still trying to figure out a way to meet up with friends who I know that live in FL. We just always have such a busy schedule!

9) Are you going to sport your LGMH or June logo? If so, should we stop and say hello? I may try to make a few magnets for our door but not sure I'll have anything while out and about...but if you recognize us, don't hesitate to say hello!

10) What things should we remember to do for while we are away? (Ex: have cats fed, stop mail, stop newspaper?) Stop the mail and newspaper and yes make sure the animals are taken care of as I'm still trying to decide who I can find to feed our two kitties AND our fish!

Hi Everyone! Our trip to DC for DD15th's bday (which is actually next Mon) was sooooo much fun but also soooo exhausting. ;o) We started the day at the Holocaust Museum, late lunch around 2:30pm and then tour of the monuments. She really enjoyed it.

I graduate today y'all! I'm the first in my family to graduate college. I'm so grateful dh & 3 kids will be there to celebrate such a blessing with me! Then in exactly a month we're off to celebrate:cool1:

CONGRATS!!!!!! It's a wonderful feeling isn't it?!? Being a mom of 2 when I finally graduated it is really nice to have dh and kids there with you...just makes it even better because of all the additional challenges you have to go through while in school.

I was waiting for someone to notice that and you are the first! More info to come later, stay tuned to this thread.

You know I seen that and thought hmmmm well I've missed something yet again. :rotfl: So I'm glad someone asked and hopefully I'll be able to catch what it is when it's finally revealed. :goodvibes

I'm a teenager! 19 DAYS!!!!!

Also, just booked Aulani for December...so excited!! :yay:

Soooo jealous! I cannot wait until the 7 mo window opens up for me to be able to try to book Aulani.

Just wanted to chime in and say my gf and I will be staying at the Pop Century Resort from Jun 19-25. This is our first trip to Disney World, can't wait!

Welcome!

We were out celebrating a birthday on Friday night, so we missed our usual Friday Night Disney Movie night. We are making it up tonight by watching Mary Poppins. I didn't know how the kids would like it, but they are eating it up. They haven't looked away from the tv yet. I am glad they like it.

We had our movie countdown night last night (Alice in Wonderland) which was a first for 3 of our 4 kids. Went off with a blast. :goodvibes

Had a great weekend, the kids and I played Disney Scene it last night. I think they are really starting to get excited for the trip. They have some movie's lined up to watch in the upcoming months and we'll probably bring some DVD's for the trip.

I really need to focus on packing this week, still have to pick up some ponchos and mister fans. I have 23 days left to go!!! :cool1:

I also just snagged some reservations for Ohana for dinner, I've been trying for awhile and they just opened up. Yay! So for those that wanted ADR's, keep trying!

Thanks for all the well wishes.:goodvibes We had a great time celebrating! Now I gotta enjoy my first summer off because I hit grad school in the fall.:upsidedow
I haven't packed or bought a thing but now I've got plenty of time (I hope)

Yay!! Thanks for the update. It looks like they have extended the hours for HS and added a few more Fantasmic show times for the week we will be there!! This is great news!

Just wanted to chime in and say my gf and I will be staying at the Pop Century Resort from Jun 19-25. This is our first trip to Disney World, can't wait!

:cool1: Congratulations!! You are going to love it!! I hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Also, someone was asking about the online check in. We did this the last time we went and boy was I glad that we did. A bus from the airport had just pulled up and the line was insane. We just walked right up behind one family and 15 minutes later we were all checked in. :thumbsup2

Some of us are getting really close! Does anyone else want to share their to do list? I always feel like I'm forgetting something :upsidedow

Here's my to do list (15 days to go!)-

buy cokes and dum dums
talk to friend that lives near Orlando about meeting for dinner Monday night
make a "day before" to do list
type instructions for pet sitter (and send)
make index cards w/ ADR and must do info on it to take into parks
pack!
buy Star Wars tshirt for DH
email MIL about babysitting the girls
get Disney cash out on payday
put tip envelopes together
attach LGMH to backpack

So very close to WDW day! My DH pulled up the menus to the places I booked us & went "Hmm, I guess I'd be alright with some of that":headache: I told him: "Fine, you spend hours online or long minutes on hold & change them!" Does anyone know if there's a non-park restaurant that does surf & turf, I think that might make him happy?...The kids & I watched the planning DVD yesterday, DH thinks it "same old stuff"; he just doesn't get it :sad2:. My oldest DD is now all hyped up over planning a future trip to Disneyland, CA! I might mention she is such a champion at Disney Scene It that no one in the house will play with her anymore!

Almost forgot: Thanks for the laundry sheet tip :laundy:, it'll make things easier until Disney steps up with a true laundry fairy! Also, has anyone tried the Starbucks Via? I am totally addicted to coffee & become somewhat of a snob since I got my grinder, & I don't think I can face daily Nescafe!

We are going June 17 - June 25:cool1: We are staying offsite at a time share.

It will be myself, DH, DD19 and DS13. I've lost count how many times we have been to Disney;)

I just looked at the new hours for June and can't believe that MK is open until 1:00am for a couple nights while we will be there and it's not even because of EMH!:scared1: I'm not sure we can get there at rope drop and stay that late!

As always, I'm late to the party --

1) Have you received Mickey Mail? If so, what?
Yep -- we received our pkg info w/ coupons

2) Do you pack specific clothes just for Disney (shirts, shoes, etc)? If so, let us know what.
DD has some shirts that she wanted Disney rhinestone transfers, but other than that, we don't pack anything that we don't normally wear

3) Do you recommend online check-in or not? Why?
We do and have had quicker check-ins (or at least it seems like it)

4) Are you making a specific room request?
Nope

5) Name 5 things that we should NOT forget to pack for Disney?
(1) Sunscreen (2) Body Glide (3) Excedrin Migraine (4) Camera (5) Lots of activities if driving down (like we are)

6) Give a restaurant review of one of the places on the June list that people will be visiting. (see page 1- pick any restaurant and review)
Tusker House -- this is a tradition for our family to have an early breakfast there before the park opens. We just love the food since it offers such a wide variety and love the characters in safari costume. Tip if you haven't heard it yet -- when the waiter/waitress takes your drink order, also ask for the bill so you can pay in advance. After you're done eating/meeting characters, you're free to leave and get those FPs or head to your favorite ride right at RD ;)

7) Give a hotel review for a place on property. Tell someone your favorite thing to do at that hotel. (see page 1- pick an hotel and tell your favorite thing to do)
Wilderness Lodge -- Disney really got it right with the theming of this hotel. My favorite part of our stay was being upgraded to Courtyard View. It was so nice to start every morning out on the balcony with a cup of coffee while watching the resort come alive.

8) Would you be interested in a DisMeet for June?
Probably not a formal DisMeet -- though, I will keep an eye out for LGMH and other DISers

9) Are you going to sport your LGMH or June logo? If so, should we stop and say hello?
Absolutely

10) What things should we remember to do for while we are away? (Ex: have cats fed, stop mail, stop newspaper?)
(1) Stop mail (2) Set out-of-office alert for work e-mail (3) If you think any FedEx/UPS packages may be coming in while you're gone, arrange for family/friend/neighbor to check your front porch and store any at their house or an arranged place until you get home (4) If you have a garden or indoor plants, make sure you have someone to water them as needed

I've tried the Vanilla Via and liked it. It has cane sugar added and I actually drank a cup without adding anything to it, not even milk!

I know that Narcoosees has a surf and turf, as well as Fultons.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

We did some more Disney shopping yesterday. I found the generic Misty Mates at Target for $2.50, I'm not sure how they will work with no fan, but thought we would try them.

3 weeks from today at this time I'll be at DisneyQuest battling skeleton pirates and easing into our first day of vacation :woohoo:

:woohoo:20 days til Disney!! 17 til we leave!! We got our Igloo cooler backpack from Big Lots yesterday. Things are coming together.
:cool1:  :dance3: :grouphug:
