Anjalee6 that is a great one!:thumbsup2

"5) What is your favorite Disney trip tip.... (ex. packing tips, park tips, whatever you have to share)
-This is a packing tip. We always pack our kid's clothes in gallon zip lock bags with an outfit for each day. It makes packing very compact and it's very easy to hand the bag to each kid in the morning, have them open the bag, and get dressed.

1) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" attractions?
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Everest
Soarin
Peter Pan

2) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" restaurants?
Boma
Le Cellier
Rose & Crown (this is Dh's, so mine by default!)
Garden Grill (the kids must do!)
Starring Rolls (the family's favorite breakfast!)

3) If you had to live in Disney, which hotel would you live in?
Animal Kingdom Lodge!

4) If I was at Disney right now, I would be eating ....
The Giant Mickey Head Rice Krispie treat from the Main Street Confectionary!

5) What is your favorite Disney trip tip.... (ex. packing tips, park tips, whatever you have to share)
I will call this my 'family sanity' tip. TAKE THE NAP!!! There is nothing worse for the rest of us than seeing you other parents at 3:30 in the afternoon who need a nap and are grouchy and cross with your kids. An hour in air conditioning, even if you don't sleep (but I bet you will!) will revive your day and make the rest of us much happier. :teacher::woohoo::lmao:

loving the weekly polls!

1) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" attractions?
(these are mine, various others in the party may disagree lol)
Big Thunder mountain
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Small World (yes, I know...but still.. have to do it)
Jungle Cruise

2) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" restaurants?
50's prime time
le cellier
Rose and Crown
Crystal Palace for Breakfast
Whispering Canyon

(we're not doing le Cellier just couldn't it into a short week trip, .but it's the first time in a long time we are not going there was much debate over this. In the end the lack of a good ADR won out and made our decision easy. But we'll still miss it. )

3) If you had to live in Disney, which hotel would you live in?

don't know. I've stayed in SOG so many times and before that it was just CR, CSR once, and CBR a bunch a long time ago. I always really do love CBR though ..the feel. But I'm not sure I could live there.

4) If I was at Disney right now, I would be eating ....
ugg.nothing. it's 11pm. Too late. I'd be hopefully enjoying a cold beverage in my room while the kids fall asleep. ;)

5) What is your favorite Disney trip tip.... (ex. packing tips, park tips, whatever you have to share)

Free ice cold tap water is available in the park. It taste fine! It won't kill you. and it's free. They give you a very large sized cup, filled with ice. Carry an insulated bottle with you and refill as needed. Especially in the heat.

Also, it's a vacation. It's supposed to be fun.

In the interest of making sure you have no free time at all, I have made some changes to our vacation. :cool1: Seriously though, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making this board happen (and happenin'!)

We have changed resorts to the Poly (please tell me I'm not gonna regret this!)

And, I've finally solidified our dining plans....

Just found this thread! We are going to be at POR June 8-14. Requested Mansions so my DD9 can support her delusions of grandeur.

We too have never been in the heat. DD12 doesn't want to miss school anymore, so we picked as early in June as we felt safe, hoping it wouldn't be *quite* as hot and that some kids will still be in school. Hope we like it because until they are out of school or we go without the kids, there will be no more November trips.

I added your information to the list on page 1 and Welcome ! June can be hot. Just remember to drink lots of water and take breaks from the heat. The beginning of June is still less crowded.

PS We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary as well (June 1)

Congrats on 15 years!

Thanks so much for adding us to your list. I didn't realize I didn't put our resort: We're spending our vaca at the BWI -- love the proximity to EPCOT (quickly becoming our favorite park) and DHS. And whats not to love about the Boardwalk area? Beautiful, romantic, nostalgic....its all there.

70 days, and counting...

Tracie

Not a problem. I love the proximity to DHS and EPCOT from the boardwalk area. It's great.

That's okay! What else is there to do but be on the DIS? Seriously though. Not a big deal to change things...it only takes me a few seconds to switch them. I got the updates down to a science.

So totally unrelated to Disney, but we are taking the kids to the circus today. We haven't been in a few years so we wanted to take the kids to do something different. So... off to the circus in a few hours. I hope that it's fun for the kids and that our LO sits still long enough to watch it.

1) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" attractions?

  1. Peter Pan
  2. Dumbo
  3. Haunted Mansion
  4. Downtown Disney
  5. Main Street Eletrical Parade

2) What are your top five Disney "Must Do" restaurants?

Don't really have these set yet. This is only my second trip where I get to pick restaurants. But these are mine.
  1. Breakfast: Cinderella's Royal Table
  2. The Garden Grill (Remember this from childhood)
  3. Liberty Tree Tavern (Food looks SO GOOD!)
  4. Ohana's for breakfast
  5. Kobe's Steakhouse (I know, not Disney, but it is a tradition!)

3) If you had to live in Disney, which hotel would you live in?

if we *had* to? I WISH I COULD!

This is hard as I've not visited many hotels yet. But my guess would be Ft. Wilderness. Cabin, where my car could be right there... horses on property (for my daughter) and a pretty nice looking pool (at first glance.)

OR maybe Wilderness Lodge? I just don't know. :confused3

4) If I was at Disney right now, I would be eating ....
Just about anything! Steak would be good.

5) What is your favorite Disney trip tip.... (ex. packing tips, park tips, whatever you have to share)

Don't take other's tips as MUST DO's for you to enjoy your trip. Remember what your family is like and what will work for you. As in, if your family never moves before noon on weekends, don't try to make your family get up for a 7am ADR in the park. that could end up making your trip miserable. :3dglasses

oh crap, I totally forgot about that! And I am SOOOOOOOO happy the original is back (I know many don't like it) but I honestly get shivers when I watch it on youtube. I will be so excited to see it in person. I think I might really cry.

I know, I remember the AWE this gave me as a child... to be able to watch it again with my daughter... there is no doubt about it, You will be seeing a grown man crying. But it will a be happy cry! :cloud9:

I think our MK park "night" is after you leave, otherwise I'd suggest we meet up and cry together. My dh would just roll his eyes. LOL.

Hello everyone! I haven't been around since the beginning because I was waiting on my job situation to "settle". The good news (long story short) is the company I've worked at for 19 years (Fortune 100 company) is allowing around 300-400 to work from home after the building closes the end of the year and I was lucky enough to secure one of those positions! :cool1:

So, things are back in permanent ink now for our June trip! I mentioned a long time ago this is a new time of the year for us but we wanted to experience what it would be like for my DS to not miss school for a change. As he gets older, it's our choice to likely not pull him out school except for a few days here or there. I hope we all don't melt! :rotfl2: What really made me decide to go for it was our last trip which was the end of October and naturally they had record breaking heat and the heat index was 105 - so, why would we be afraid of June? lol :rotfl:

Looking forward to SWW, a new experience at POFQ and the WISHES Dessert Party! :cool1:

Well, I can't find your dates on the first posting, so not sure about your dates. lol

Just know I am with you in spirit~!~ :rotfl:

I had to scroll halfway down the page to find our thread! Did you guys all go out and get a life on me?

Bumping us back to the top!

I was thinking the same thing. We had a really long day today. We went to the circus which was really fun and the kids were so tired and cranky that it made for a long afternoon with no nap. But now they are nestled in their beds and I am into the wine so it's a relaxing evening.

I was just looking at recent reviews of Hollywood and Vine. We always go there with the kids for lunch just because they love the Playhouse Disney (Disney Junior now) characters, but there are so many bad reviews on here, that I am wondering if we should skip it this year. Anyone have any thoughts?

i've not noticed any character buffet's with a lack of bad reviews. I really have to wonder what they are expecting from a buffet, esp with characters.. esp characters for the younger set. :confused3

I am not letting those reviews stop me from going to a place I know my DD will enjoy. but that is me.

I agree with pp from Singledad about bad reviews for everything. We have read some awful reviews about Chef Mickey's but it seems like a great character meal & is so popular that we're going to try it out anyways. At least we would have tried it for ourselves. I say go for it :thumbsup2

Get up Early, get to rope drop and then relax on an afternoon break before heading back out for the night!

That is what we faced in October of 2009 and decided to try June for the first time last year...unfortunately the same result of record breaking heat. We still had a great time though! And you will love POFQ it is such a small resort and very pretty. We are also doing the party for the first time, I can't wait. I hope that we catch a break on the weather this June!

Yeah. I agree with both of you. I guess it's the same thing as Mama Melrose; everyone always writes negative things about it, but we really like it. So, my kids really like the characters so we are going to keep it. I think it was the wine talking tonight. :thumbsup2

So I just realized that yesterday in the mail we got another Disney planning DVD. Now we have two. Didn't order two. I guess they just want to make extra sure that we have one. :lmao:

So now that the ADR's are set in stone and the planning is done...and I can't shop for another pay period.....I.AM.BORED!

Guess I'll hop to the other boards and find some newbie to impart wisdom to! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

4) If I was at Disney right now, I would be eating ....I would be eating a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. I love those things!

5) What is your favorite Disney trip tip.... (ex. packing tips, park tips, whatever you have to share)to go back to the room and rest. Everyone needs a break including the parents. Also to not expect to do everything in one trip. If I can just make DH remember these too. I think he had more meltdowns sometimes than the kids did.[/QUOTE]
