The first night we arrive, we are thinking about going to Downtown Disney for dinner. We will be taking resort transporation, but I wasn't sure if we take the monorail somewhere go to get a bus or a bus right from the CR. Also, how much time does it usually take to get from CR to Downtown Disney?

Thanks a bunch!

No need for the monorail. A DTD bus comes straight to CR. The time really depends, but I would allot a good 30-45 minutes.

After the bus leaves the Contemporary it will also stop to pick up guests at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian, so that's going to add onto the total time getting there.

Do these 3 resorts always share buses, and if so is the Contemporary the first stop? How long does it take to get to AK and HS?

They usually start sharing bus service starting in the afternoon, however the Contemporary is always the first resort where you would be picked up and dropped off at. As for getting to HS and the AK, I would say it takes about 25 - 30 minutes.

You're welcome and I am not sure how long the boat ride takes since I never been on it. Plus the boat ride route also includes Fort Wilderness and I forget which one it goes to first in the mornings and then the afternoons.

I've never taken the boat to WL, but the ride to FW was a good 10-15 minutes. (I might be a little off though, the last time i took that boat was 6 years ago;)) but again, depending on if you have to wait for a boat and weather, I would allow a good 30+ minutes

Found this forum a few days ago and I'm only half way through reading it...all...but I just wanted to jump forward and say thanks for the great information and the wonderful spirit here. I am a long time disney/contemporary resort fan! After an April trip earlier this year we will be visiting again from 12/14 through 12/21. Love this place!

Just to get into the spirit of things I will post a couple of pics from my April trip once my message count gets to 10. :goodvibes

We have a nice sunrise picture from our tower bay lake view last trip.

Just back from our first stay at BLT. We had an amazing view of Bay Lake from our 12th floor villa. I especially enjoyed watching the first boats coming out on the lake as it was still semidark. Magical.

Loved BLT. A one BR is quite spacious. Loved the second bathroom, loved the storage in the laundry room, loved the artwork. Wishes from TotW was fantastic. :wizard: We met Brucie who is a wonderful CM. Her specialty drink is refreshing.

This is the longest busride you will encounter. There is a bus right from CR, but as others noted it will also swing by the other resorts for pickups. It is a haul to DD, and then there are like 4 stops at DD. Last 2 times we've done dinner at Planet Hollywood because of the food voucher in the packages, but this year we've decided that the hassle of the trip downtown just isn't worth it. If you are trying to fit it in at the end of a day of park touring, it is just really draining because of the transportation. If you are going to do it, you might strongly consider a splurge on a cab ride instead. I'm guessing, but I'd say a cabride will cut out at least 50 minutes roundtrip, no exaggeration. We've never made it to DD in less than 45 minutes one way.

Hi,

I haven't had a chance read through all the pages in this thread yet, so forgive me if my question has already been asked and answered!

If you're staying at the CR can you use the pool and amenities at BLT, too?

TIA!!

Hi :)

I have waaaaaay too much time on my hands so I actually read through all the pages. From what I understand if you are staying at the CR you can NOT use the pool or lounge at the BLT. The BLT folks can use the rest of the resort but things were not intended to work the other way around.

Thanks for posting you're review.

Can anyone help me with this? We are currently booked with a split stay in ASMusic Family Suites for one week when we'll have 3 adults and 2 kids - moving to WL the 2nd week after one of the adults leave. I've always loved the idea of staying at the Contemporary, but wondered about the price/value. Has anyone stayed in one of the Garden Wing rooms with 3 adults and 2 kids or have an opinion on if this is comfortable space-wise or not? THANKS for any input!!!

It's actually the opposite because Bay Lake Tower guests can use the Contemporary pool if they feel like it. Plus they also have access to the fitness center on the 3rd floor.

My family and I have not stayed in any of the Garden Wing rooms, however since they are the same exact size as the Tower rooms I can say they would be enough because the Contemporary has some of the largest standard rooms among the Deluxe Resorts.
