I'll join. Can't read anything recreational until next Wednesday when my LAST law school final EVER is over!!! But after that I will need the occasional break from bar review materials.

I am sure that it wil be a relief to read something for the pure joy of reading it.:goodvibes

Chello CP! Thanks for starting this. :) You really know how to ramp it up! LOL I'm almost scared to post with a big audience.

I'll start with this: I really liked the Uglies/Pretties/Specials series by Scott Westerfeld. I thought it was great. A really good read for me, anyway.

Because I enjoyed the series I set out to try some of the author's other works. Unfortunately, the title "Peeps" sounded interesting because it had the subject of "vampires" in it. It's a lie. There are no vampires as we know or want them to be. I cannot express how much I disliked this book. Please, if you're thinking about reading it: Don't.

Unless you like non-fictional tales of the lives of parasites - yes that's right, worms, rats, diseases, pestulance, plague, more worms, blood borne disgustingness, and monkey-worms. As for romance - in the end you get a kiss. Of course that kiss comes on the heals of a tale about 2 foot long WORMS STUCK IN PEOPLES LEGS. And yes, that's true.

It was boring and disgusting. So...... yea. Ew.

Eww....did you make it through the whole book? My sister has to read the whole book if she starts one, even if she hates it. If I hate it, I have no problem stopping in the middle.

Oo, count me in!! Like donald&daisy, I am sooooo looking forward to once again being able to read something because I *want* to, not because I have to. (Of course, I did make an exception for all the Twilight books... :rolleyes1 ) My son says he's dreading me actually graduating, because he says I'm going to lock myself in my room with a stack of books and not come out for a month. LOL!

My younger daughter and my son thankfully inherited Mom and Dad's reading addiction. Well, so did the oldest daughter but she only wants to read her favorite author.

I have an author for those of you who like a good police novel. His name is John Sandford, and he has more than one series of books. I am fond of two of them. One is a series with Prey in the title, about an officer named Lucas Davenport a very tough no nonsence character. The other is about an officer name Virgil Flowers, and he is a laid back character with a surfer dude, rocker, country boy thing going for him. There are several Davenport books, but only two Flowers ones and I am anxiously awaiting new Flowers books. I fell madly in like with him.

I'll join in if you'll have me :)
I've been reading the Southern Vampire Series since finishing.

I'd love to join a book club. I have 2 weeks of class left & I'm done for the summer. Bring on the recreational reading!!

I've learned how to do quit reading a book LATELY but I don't like to do it. I knew the author so I went along reading down the river of da-Nile hoping for SOMETHING good to happen. Nope.

Kaoden,
Love your quote, girl! I just added that to my favorites on Goodreads. :goodvibes

Also, WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES! :grouphug:

I want to direct your attention to a highly addictive website called

goodreads.com
http://www.goodreads.com/

It's a website that easily allows your to catalogue books in "read", "to-read," and "read" catagories (and also sub-catagories). You can look up almost every book known to man and see reviews by other people. And sort of like Amazon.com, you can follow trails "if you liked books by this author then try....." or you can see what your friends are reading and then add the books they loved to your list or whatever tickles your fancy. I've just been totally absorbed in it.

If you do join, there is a group called twilightaholics book club that you can join and "friend" some of us from the twilight thread on there. Don't forget to add your disname to one of the threads if you don't keep your pseudonym. I kept mine. I'm travelmel. :surfweb:

I need help. I've read probably all the series. I read the Gemma Doyle series way before Twilight, I read Hunger Games, I read Speak, I read The Host, I read the House of Night Series and I finished the Mortal Instruments series a few weeks ago...what do I read now?!

CP... UGLIES. Uglies, my friend... Uglies. Uglies, Pretties, and Specials by Scott Westerfeld. Don't read what it's about. Let it take you. It's good!
