The Adventurers Club

it goes to show that it IS a bar, it is ADULT entertainment and it CAN get out of control.

Absolutely.

In PI, most people assume that the audience is 21 or over or at least 18. There are many innuendoes and adult based humor. Depending on the particular set of people, it can get out of hand. I've been there when a few improv'd lines were slightly offensive, but most of the time I find it thoroughly entertaining but decidedly ADULT.

I think Disney may be intimidated to not allow children inside their bars and clubs if a parent wants to bring them, but it really isn't an appropriate place for kids who might become upset if all the jokes are over their heads, or if they feel unwelcome, or for kids who are older and might be embarrassed if they do understand the jokes.

And if I'm at the bar getting my Kungaloosh, the last thing I want to do is bump into a stroller and three toddlers. It's a BAR. When I see that it makes me so sad for them, especially when it's midnight or later. It's time for some chocolate milk and a bedtime story, not the bar scene.

A few quick points. The powers that be at WDW have decided that certain venues are to be limited to those 21 and older and the AC and Comedy Warehouse are not among them. The entertainment to be had there is no more risque' than that seen on Drew Carey, or on most prime time sitcoms for that matter. The humor is often of the 'double entendre' variety in which words or situations have more than one meaning, and if 'Lil Bubba 'gets' the second meaning, he's no longer innocent anyway. There is alcohol served at both places, but if that fact makes them a 'bar' , then every table service restaurant in WDW excepting those in MK are 'bars' because they all have those long wooden thingeys with tall stools at which fermented and distilled beverages are offered. They're called bars. Some folks wish to shield their offspring from viewing the consumption of Demon Rum, and that's their right, but the rest of us don't share that concern, so thanks for your concerned advice, but no thanks. Finally, it's unfortunate that the presence of those under 21 impairs the fun of an adult at the AC or elsewhere, but that's their problem. It's asking a bit much to expect me to deny my young'uns some entertainment they enjoy, and have paid for on their Hopper Plus passes, to soothe their delicate sensibilities.

Actually it's considered a bar because it doesn't serve food. If it served food it could still concievably be called a resturant.

That said, if your kids are older I think it's less of a problem. 12 and 13 are still kids, but they're less likely to bother other patrons since they probably won't get fussy and start crying at any point. And the humor can definitely get raunchy toward the end of the night, so leaving early is a good option. The last time we were there (granted this was a little over two years ago), we went five nights in a row and there wasn't really a "tame" night as the humor got wilder as the night got later. This was with the actors switching around their roles and mostly different crowds of patrons as well. I do want to mention, however, that the entire week I was there, I never saw a single child in the AC, and there were very, very few on Pleasure Island at all.

While all you Adventure Clubbers are in one place, I am curious about the cost. If I want to stop by and check it out, I have to pay the $22 Pleasure Island fee per person??

If you just want to get a feel for the AC, admission is free from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m, barring a private event. They will politely kick you out at 9, but by then you should have seen enough to know if it's worth $20 to you.

We went during the free preview from 7 - 9 when DS's were around 6 & 9. We all enjoyed it! During that time, we saw the Treasures room show, hung around in the main lobby a bit, and saw 2 library shows. I was called up as a volunteer on stage during one show and DH was during the other. The kids absolutely loved seeing Mom & Dad on stage! We also all dress in matching shirts at Disney and were referred to as "the red family". I would not take kids later than 9:00, but I really think it's fine as long as they are well-behaved and enjoying themselves (which mine were). We've gone back again at DS's request.
