I am so sorry, Liesa. My prayers are with you and your family.

You actually DO have really pretty feet in that picture, but what an odd comment! :rolleyes1

Ah, the long awaited Dis meet!

Lisa, sorry to hear about your grandfather. You will be in our prayers.

God Bless!

Glenn - Agreed....creepy pickup line.

Rosie - DED over the photo. Good show.

Cap't Oblivious- 4 (or is is 5?)

It's 5, because T is The Hollywood Tower Hotel

U, I'm afraid, is Unrecognizable.

You didn't list the Captain's score.

It's ok. I'm low man on the totem pole in my own family, too.

I'm not sure I can comment on the big DIS meet. The picture with the sunglasses doesn't need any commentary! :rotfl2:

Glad you all got to meet up. That's very cool.

Just wanted to ask if you'd all pray for my 'tude today, and the rest of the week. I lost my last grandparent today, which means my parents will likely not be able to make it up here. After all the anticipation and excitement, and work I've done to make it such a special time, I am truly bummed out. I did not know my grandfather very well during the last years, but it is still hard to see my parents go through all of this. Please ask for an attitude adjustment in my heart and peace to reign! Thanks, Friends!

I'm sorry to hear that, Liesa. We'll pray for you and your family. You'd think we would get used to not being in control of the world after a while, but it's still never easy to accept when your plans don't work out. I hope your Christmas is still special for you and your family. :goodvibes

Oh, and I have to agree that "You have pretty feet" is creepy and not a good pickup line. I can't say as I've ever really noticed a woman's feet, to be honest (please note my screen name). In fact, my screen name's origin has to do with my general cluelessness among women.

Certainly, a better pickup line would have been:
"Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?" :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Liesa, I am so sorry to hear of your loss, especially at this time of year. My sympathies are sent out to you and your family during this difficult time. We're all here to support you

sorry to hear about your loss

and i dont remember ever answering a question write in the alphabet game, but i guess i did, normally i havethis expression when i see them.
:confused3

but i did get one point so woo hoo.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your well wishes and encouragement. You are right, Mark, we'd all like to be in control and know what's around the corner, but can't. There's joy in the journey, but sometimes heartache as well.

I received a MAJOR bit of cheer this morning, Perfect in timing, in fact!

A VERY smashed box (the USPS really did a number on this one) arrived at the door and what to my wondering eyes did it say?? It was from Germany!!!!! :scared1::banana: With FAR too little opening, out emerged one of the straw ornaments that I so coveted on our trip to Nuremberg- which I couldn't get because the shop I saw them in was closed on our way out. Along with that was a box of assorted German chocolates, a bar of marzipan, and some choco covered hazelnuts (filberts to some of you).:cloud9::banana::cloud9:

THANKS!!! Ladies!!! Magdalene and Katharina that was VERY thoughtful of you and so sweet! (literally!) I want to post pictures but am horribly handicapped with the only computer in the house being a Mac. On top of that, my camera died completely- the lens won't open at all.

Anyway, I'm out the door for last minute gifts and the gigantic shopping trip to the grocery store. I'll pick up some eggnog for any of you who might happen to stop in. :goodvibes

I could help you out with that little Mac dilemma ;) Sorry to hear about your camera too! But what a great suprise to get in the midst of everything :goodvibes

Liesa, I am so glad that you got the box in time! :cool1: And what great timing to cheer you up on a day when you really needed it! :goodvibes

The chocolates are all marcipan as well (some with flavours, but plain ones as well) - you claimed that your family likes it, so we thought that this would be a nice German addition to your Christmas celebration! :thumbsup2

The bar of marcipan is called a "Marzipanbrot" which means a marcipan bread. My family cuts it into small slices (but only Katharina, her DH and my parents eat it).

And I think maybe the box might have been opened by customs - stupid me forgot to tick the box "gift" on the customs declaration... I was very afraid that it would not make it to you at all - or that they would make you pay custom on it!!

Certainly, a better pickup line would have been:
"Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?" :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: That's a good one Mark!!

Wooo hoo! For the package from Magdalene and Katharina! Those two are so sweet to think of your whole family that way. :lovestruc

Now that your old camera pooped out I hope you get a new camera for Christmas!! :yay:

Hi Liesa,
I haven't posted much lately, but I have finally caught up and must say that you have gone through a complete whirlwind (literally with that tornado!!) the last couple of weeks. I am truly sorry for the loss of your grandfather. It doesn't matter if you weren't close to him recently, he was still family and it still has an affect on you. I have you and your family in my prayers.

For the updates, I kinda missed a few.:rolleyes1 I loved the fact that you moved your son into his dorm with economy. I hope he is still doing well, and will be home for the holiday (or is he there already?)? Congrats on finishing your TWO 5K's!:thumbsup2:cool1: I give you so much credit for getting out there and doing that! I can barely get my behind up off the couch.....moving on. How fantastic that you got complimented on your fabulous toes! They are quite stunning, I must say!:) Also I was glad to see that the DISMeet worked out so well. It looked like you all had a great time!

:banana: to the lovely ladies from Germany for your care package. It looks like it had perfect timing in getting there when you needed it most.

While my family is outside practicing their (tenuous) 2nd Amendment Rights, I have a chance to sneak on here and post a bit....

Hey, I don't want to be like my Mom either -- that would be really weird!

Yeah, that WOULD be weird. I can't seem to picture you without facial hair. I don't know though, maybe your mom has a hairy face, like I have hairy feet? :confused3

I remember you taking that picture of Tate...after he/she had had a couple of mimosa's and was feeling pretty good.

Just wait til you see his/her monkey business with a couple of Lapus!! :lmao:

That was a riot when Rosie sent that card around for signatures and "miss you" comments, and you proceeded to fill it up in its entirety! It was an honest mistake....but still very funny. I wanted to tell that story when I got back, but knew I should save it for you to tell.

It was a riot. I felt like such an idiot. It was a great letter to Jordy, though. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Just be glad he was not an OB/GYN!!! Who knows what kind of comment you would have gotten then!

eXciting update. My mother is always late too among other things.
In fact my husband will tell me to stop having "an episode "A La Maris from "Fraiser" if I start exhibiting any other of her most wonderful qualities. :rotfl2:

:lmao: OMGosh, you're killing me, Pat! That was rich!!

Normally, I am NEVER late for anything. I think it was Let's-Not-Be-My-Mother backlash.

The meet looked like it was a total blast! Wish I had been there.

I wished you were there, too! Spring isn't soooo far away. Now, to get that jacuzzi fixed soon! Can't be having an Oregon Meet without the hot tub!! I hate that it's broken just in time for Christmas week!

Waaaatch it wiiiiiigle, see it jiggle....

:lmao:

 Men, like little children some times. Seriously busted!!

He was SO busted! No Panda Express for you tonight, Pops!

Great smilie!! I see you pulled it from the Oregonian.

Yeaaaah, Andrews home!!

It is SO great to get to set 7 places again- actually 8. But it also reminds us at every meal that had Mom been here, it would have been 9. We really miss here this year!! We will miss her Christmas bread, her praying for us like crazy, and her spending hours with the littlest grandkids. :) many happy memories!

Y'all have been working so hard on the house in Salem, you deserve a wonderful time with all your family and friends.

I pray God bless your party a 100 fold and may He give you rich memories and fun times to remember for years to come.

Thanks, Camille!! I just got a call from my folks from California. They have had the meeting with the funeral home and the service (the first one) will be on Tuesday. So they will either fly in tonight or tomorrow AM depending on when they can get a flight. Could you pray that there will be flights available?? I really would love for them to be able to be here sooner than later. THey will have leave on Monday to get back down to Hemet in time for the service. Such an odd Christmas we are having this year!

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to figure it out, I think I'm seeing one of the letters wrong. It's really cool though, I've just never figured it out.

Yes, the letters are: TGRASNE I believe. Think hard!

Admit it. It was funny!

Love it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! ENJOY YOUR FAMILIES OR WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING, AND GOD BLESS YOU IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

The Tink is adorable, Camille! You always find the fun stuff!

Lovely greetings, Tammie!! Thanks for thinking of us this week, and even into next!

Yes I saved the postcard episode for Liessa too!!!:lmao:She didn't mention that along with the glasses were some other goodies one of which looked like a white rock and we all handled it carefully and gingerly sniffed ... all of us thought it was some kind of "poo" I think it was "pluto" who acyually tasted it !!:lmao:I'll let liessa tell ya what it is !!:rotfl2:

Yes, I did pass out some tasty camel poo.

Not really. It is salted, cured, milk curd that is eaten ALL the time in Kazakhstan. Kids run around sucking on it all day long, and old folks actually dip in into their tea and eat it. It is handmade in the villages with all the surplus milk. If it's not being made in to "Kurt", the leftover milk is made into buttermilk, sourcream, or fermented into an mildly alcoholic drink. And yes, we did drink that. And yes, it actually tastes pretty good.

What a fun dismeet, I'm so sad the Nashville one didn't happen, maybe in the future ;) Glad you had a great time together, can't wait to see what else you all did.

It was a GREAT DISMeet!! I am sad too that the Nashville didn't work out either, but there was just no time with that houseboat trip. If that hadn't have happened, we definitely would have gone forward with it. I am guesssing I'll be in Bowling Green again this summer, so let's shoot for that again!!

Great meet. Love the pic in the stylin' shades. :thumbsup2

What would be a proper DISMeet (at least with Tate involved) without the silly?

I'm so sorry, Liesa. Even when you aren't really in touch, it still hurts. :hug:I'm praying for peace and joy for you, and for comfort and strength for your parents. "For we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love Him and to them that are called according to His purpose." Rom 8:28
Call me anytime!

Great update, Liesa. Love the photos of the DIS meet in DC.

Sorry about your loss. No matter how long since the last visit, it is always difficult to lose a loved one. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for you loss Liesa, you are in my thoughts and prayers

Lots of :hug::hug:and prayers coming your way Liessa !!

Liesa, I am so sorry for you and your family. Loosing a family member around Christmas is always very sad. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks, Ladies!! It is hard to lose a family member, knowing that that last piece of 3rd generation heritage is gone. I had many memories of my grandfather- one being our travels together while I was VERY young. Our claim to fame together was him taking me to almost all of the 50 states I've been to!! :thumbsup2 While we drove along the highways and freeways, I'd do my grandma's hair. :goodvibes
