With only the options of using Xylophone and Xanthium, I made the eXecutive decision to eXhonerate myself with eXcellent prose using eXtremely creative, eXperimental literary technique.

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “Oh NO! That’s something my mother would do!” Even with our best intentions, we try NOT to be our mother (or in you guys’ cases, your fathers), but it’s inevitable- it happens to the best of us. From my own mother I got the neatnik jean, her terrible eyesight, and a great sense of direction. What I also got was a propensity to have a blond moment from time to time. Which ALMOST proved to be horrendously disastrous in meeting up with JenBear and Bubba. My mother had made us almost late for both the 5K AND our departures; I certainly didn’t intend to make us almost late (or worse) for this!

Ball of Wax and I left the airport, and I whipped out my Mickey book that had all the info I’d need to get from here to there- or so I thought. We had no sooner left, when I realized that there on my tidy little info-packed pages was the hotel name. Rene plugs that into the onboard GPS (can’t seem to make her mortgage, but somehow manages to swing a $35,000 car?) and away we go. Meantime, I look at the page where I’d written ALL the phone numbers of DISers I was going to meet up with….. but hers!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaa??

“Good morning” the desk clerk says as I walk in.
“Hi, I’m here to meet my friend, Jennifer XXX can you call her room for me??”
“I’m sorry there’s no one staying here by that name.”

She must have seen the panic on my face, and quickly proceede to tell me that there are 2 other hotels of the same chain a couple miles down the road. I asked her if she could call them to see if Jen might be staying over there, but instead hands me a card with those numbers and tells me to go use the house phone. Oooooooooooooooookay…. After 2 rather stressful phone calls, I finally find that she is indeed down the road.

Back into the car, we scream over there (Getting in the car with BoW is always an adventure full of hair raising Test Track style trauma) and just as I was getting out of the car, Jen called me! Awesome! Now I had her number! Earlier I think I had actually gotten texts from her, but wasn’t sure how to view them! Didn’t figure that out until a bit later of some phone tinkering time.

Quick hugs and introductions ensued; it was GREAT knowing ahead of time what she’d look like, and it seemed we were already old friends after just a couple minutes. Then, we were off to meet up with the others- them in their car, and us in ours. We’d have to save the real stuff until we got there.

When we got there, Rosie and Tracy, and JenB 1023 and her hubby and adorable daughter were already there waiting. Rosie, correct me if I’m wrong, but maybe Rob and Jamie were there too? A quick check-in (they were expecting the Mickey Mouse Club, and I had a good time making the ressie with the restarurant- they thought it was VERY funny!) and we were taken back to the group meeting room. It was cozy enough and set for 20. I wished I had gotten a photo of the art of the wall, because frankly it was just plain odd!! If I recall, it was some naked women done is hideous colors.

Glenn walked in fashionably late with Judy, as they had gotten stuck in the same traffic as the rest of us. Truly that was a frightening bit of traffic jam! With the addition of The Cappels, we were all assembled and began a wondrous yak-fest. It really was just a ton of fun!

We all got pretty good food, but sadly I just sort of mis-ordered today. You’ve seen it before, but here is the bland omelet I got.

LiesaDay1003.jpg

Tate was finding the Meet very enjoyable too, and in fact, ordered the better part of our meal:

LiesaDay1007.jpg

Rosie passed around a card for Jordan for all of us to sign, and having another ding-bat moment, I proceeded to fill up the entire one with a long letter to him! Rosie spanked me, and got out another card meant to be a gift for someone in her family. Despite my chastisement, I was laughing pretty hard. Here’s the Canadian contingent signing Card #2:

LiesaDay1005.jpg

Before the Meet, Tate went shopping with me and wanted to make sure everyone was silly enough for a group shot. Doesn’t he have good taste??

LiesaDay1006.jpg

All too soon, some had to say good-bye and move onto other things. I was truly sad to say good-bye to JenBear and Bubba, the Cappels and the JenBs at this point, but the rest of us weren’t done yet! We had other plans to keep us busy together for a few hours more. Stay tuned for more DISMania…

Hey, I don't want to be like my Mom either -- that would be really weird!

I remember you taking that picture of Tate...after he/she had had a couple of mimosa's and was feeling pretty good.

That was a riot when Rosie sent that card around for signatures and "miss you" comments, and you proceeded to fill it up in its entirety! :rotfl2: It was an honest mistake....but still very funny. I wanted to tell that story when I got back, but knew I should save it for you to tell.

Please don't be in a state of confusion over this letter! U has an unbelievably LONG list of words under it- so give it a go!! Guess this one right here in the thread, whited out please!!

Ha Ha ha ha ha haaaaa!-As Mary Poppins would sing after fiding something in her great carpet bag. This letter U is on and in the only place this exists besides the Oval office, I'll have you know. This is sooo near and dear to my heart and one of the most well loved (by me) attractions at MK. THE Great Seal Of The United States-in The Hall of Presidents!!!! T-I'm gonna give it a shot and say it is from Tower of Terror, but I'm not sure. I don't think I'm too late on this letter, am I?

Nope! YOu're not too late to guess, Camille!! I've entered your answers!

And from the dark and grey skies of Portland, this is 7 signing off for a spell. Enjoy your weeks, Everyone. I may check in here and there, but this is it!

Ok, and forward podiatrist, maybe. :lmao: I guess he just stuck his own foot in his mouth.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Just be glad he was not an OB/GYN!!! Who knows what kind of comment you would have gotten then!

eXciting update. My mother is always late too among other things.
In fact my husband will tell me to stop having "an episode "A La Maris from "Fraiser" if I start exhibiting any other of her most wonderful qualities. :rotfl2:

The meet looked like it was a total blast! Wish I had been there. :goodvibes

I was going to use the word jiggle too, but then thought it might be too edgy. Glad you've got us all back on track. :lmao:

He's doing fine. Except, last night, he calls and says, "Where's my wallet?" I had specifically told him he wasn't supposed to drive, and he told me, " oh no, I don't plan to go anywhere. I'll just stay here." At 5:30 he calls up and says, do you have it? I wanted to go into Panda Express for dinner. :lmao: Busted!!!! :rotfl2:

Waaaatch it wiiiiiigle, see it jiggle....:goodvibes

 Men, like little children some times. Seriously busted!!

My son's flight took off from Nashville already, and he's on his way! My folks arrive on Monday and then it's a whirlwind of activity. WE'll likely go to the Oregon coast for wave watching and chowder on the 22nd, then more family arrives on the 24 with a HUGE bash with like 20 people starrting at 4:00!!

Good news: BEk and I did all the "heavy lifting" over the last couple of weeks. Beds are changed, everything is vacuumed, dusted, scrubbed, cleaned, and SUPER decked out! The only "big thing" left is doing all the shopping for the food and booze. UGH!!

Yeaaaah, Andrews home!!

Y'all have been working so hard on the house in Salem, you deserve a wonderful time with all your family and friends.

I pray God bless your party a 100 fold and may He give you rich memories and fun times to remember for years to come.

He was smitten, I'm sure.

And why wouldn't he be?!?

Sorry about that odd reference to shaving. Months ago, I used some terrible syntax in a post, and the guys jumped all over it- accusing me of having hairy feet. :lmao: Lesson learned: with Glenn and Marv around here, you must use letter perfect spelling, grammar and syntax EVERY time. Or you'll pay for it.

I should have been nailed for these mistakes like a 100 times over by now. :scared:

Yes, cookie baking is a dangerous sport. Be careful! It always seems especially dangerous for my hips and thighs. :confused3

To late for me.

Yep, I even surprised myself.... this house here in Portland is EASY peasy to clean since we have VERY little in it. A quick potty scrub, vacuum job and with lots of little helpers we had it done pretty quickly. So I ended up having a bit of extra time- of course, pre-writing it helped a lot too.

Girl! You must be on a constant caffeine drip to get all of what you do, done! Woooowe!

Party went fine. Bek played guitar and another gal her age played violin for our carol singing time. Then we just sat by our fire and talked and talked.

One highlight was when Mikki (my 15 year old) started sparring (totally a no-no in TKD) with another 15 year old guy. It got funny when he came out of the bedroom where all the kids were hanging out with a bloody nose!!!! :scared1::scared1 What's even funnier is that she is only a yellow belt, and he a black belt. :lmao::lmao:

Mikki....:rotfl2: That's hilarious!

Earlier on Glenn and GB figured out what Cynthia had done with the new link. The letters DO re-arrange into a word that was ummm....rather thematic in the PTR. Can you see it?? I'll let you guess first.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to figure it out, I think I'm seeing one of the letters wrong. It's really cool though, I've just never figured it out.

I am so excited to hear about your adventure to find us!!

Me too!

:rotfl2: Just be glad he was not an OB/GYN!!! Who knows what kind of comment you would have gotten then!

 Pat! :rotfl:

The Tink is adorable, Camille! You always find the fun stuff!

Yes I saved the postcard episode for Liessa too!!!:lmao:She didn't mention that along with the glasses were some other goodies one of which looked like a white rock and we all handled it carefully and gingerly sniffed ... all of us thought it was some kind of "poo" I think it was "pluto" who acyually tasted it !!:lmao:I'll let liessa tell ya what it is !!:rotfl2:

What a fun dismeet, I'm so sad the Nashville one didn't happen, maybe in the future ;) Glad you had a great time together, can't wait to see what else you all did.

Just wanted to ask if you'd all pray for my 'tude today, and the rest of the week. I lost my last grandparent today, which means my parents will likely not be able to make it up here. After all the anticipation and excitement, and work I've done to make it such a special time, I am truly bummed out. I did not know my grandfather very well during the last years, but it is still hard to see my parents go through all of this. Please ask for an attitude adjustment in my heart and peace to reign! Thanks, Friends!

Of course!! Don't worry, it will all turn out the way it suppose to Liesa, try not to worry how it will be or not be. I do know what your feeling though.

I'm so sorry, Liesa. Even when you aren't really in touch, it still hurts. :hug:I'm praying for peace and joy for you, and for comfort and strength for your parents. "For we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love Him and to them that are called according to His purpose." Rom 8:28
Call me anytime!

Great update, Liesa. Love the photos of the DIS meet in DC.

Sorry about your loss. No matter how long since the last visit, it is always difficult to lose a loved one. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.
