Liesa, when I was really young, my Mom would sew outfits for people to make some extra money. She often had to turn people away due to lack of time. Her Mom did the same thing, so she had learned at the hands of an expert. If she were still alive,:flower3: I bet she would tell you Great Job on the dresses! :thumbsup2

As for me, brownies and walnuts are the natural pairing, and like Glenn said, it makes for a much better story!

Nancy Drew and the Case of the Missing...

wait...can I say that on the DIS?

Hi Liesa,
I am very late to this TR party, but I came over from Brookelizabeth's after "meeting" you on her TR. Okay, now I have to go back and read through everything.!

You stole someone's nuts.

How many people can say THAT?!

:rotfl:

Men, stop those dirty thoughts and just leave it! ;)

The dresses look beautiful! Be sure to get plenty when you are all dressed up too!!! As for the brownies, you gotta go with the stolen walnuts!

Hi Liesa!!

What beautiful gowns!! :goodvibes I am so impressed! They are a sight to behold!! My mom sewed clothes when we were little. She also knitted. Unfortunately she did not pass that talent on to me. She tried to teach me to knit a few times to no avail. I don't know if it was because I was left-handed so she had a hard time teaching me? :sad2:

I'm caught up on your report!! :cool1: Puking on the train!! Ugh, they must have felt horrid! But the hotel must have been a slice of heaven for them.

What beautiful pictures of the church! So magnificent!

I vote - walnuts!!

I can't wait to hear about the ball! It sounds like it will be a wonderful time. You and Bek will be the belles of the ball!!

Hope you are feeling better about your presentation Sunday. I'm sure you will do an amazing job! :thumbsup2

Caught up yet?? I am impressed!! When I get behind, I get pretty lax in the chit-chat; I've been busted more than once for (gasp!) skimming.

Now no Quizzes on content. Retention made not have been the best. :rolleyes1

smiley-nap-sleep-couch.gif

I thought about going with this one -->
6pack.gif

but figured you wouldn't appreciate us spilling beer on the furniture.

Glenn- I  your :). You are the smilie king!

As for the rest of the happenings,

Love the dresses- so talented. All I have made are curtains.

The nuts story - :rotfl2: I have picked up the wrong cart but never got too far. I have also gotten home with items that have disappeared. I have the kids ( my put awayers) forget certain items needing refrigeration and have frozen items not meant to be frozen.
The strangest grocery mix up occurred one morning when I got up after my Dh left for work. I open the fridge and find the cereal box in there. Wondering why that is in there, but using my logic, I open the cabinet where the cereal goes and lo and behold I find the milk. I guess my DH got a little mixed up.:rotfl:

As for the brownies, WALNUTS all the way. Us the pecans for some bread pudding a la Food and Wine.

you know - what will be a good PS to the walnut story, is if you make your brownies with walnuts, get to where you are going, and somebody there says "I was planning on making those, but when I got home I didn't have any walnuts.....I could have sworn I picked some up":rolleyes1

I think I've completely fried myself already, and it's not even Saturday. <sigh> Bible study at my house was the straw that broke the camel's back, and I"m giving myself permission to now spend the next hour vegetating with my laptop in front of the computer.

Camille- you asked if I liked my hair.... Yes, and No. It's definitely darker, but WAY more red too. I would have liked it a bit lighter, but don't mind the extra color. It's just quite different than before and that's always a bit of a shock.

I for one am glad this thread has been a teeny bit slower than usual, I was able to get caught up within a few minutes instead of an hour! I just read your replies to me Liesa! First, eeeeeeeeeek about the puking not ending....and then I remembered EVERYONE got sick except you...and someone ends up in a wheelchair. :sad2:

And oh-my about the breastfeeding gone wild! :scared1: :lmao:

I hope the presentation goes smoothly and you are able to get everything done without too much stress!!

I'm sad it's been slower- it means I"m too busy to give it its full attention it deserves. :headache: Yes, this indeed was not the end of the sicky stuff.

Yeah, I had forgotten I had told you about that! Get ready for some of the wildest "art" you've EVER seen!! :scared1:

I was foiled again at thinking on my presentation, so still feel really unprepared- but am just too beat to put my mind (and heart ) to it right now. Tomorrow's another day...

Hi, Liesa. Great story! I've done that. It was actually Marv's cart that I took by mistake and it had wooden spoons in it???? ;)

Seriously, good luck this weekend.

Thanks for the good wishes!! It's still a work in progress.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I hate it when I discover my nuts are missing! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

You are SERIOUSLY trying to get the attention of the Tag Fairy, aren't you??? :rotfl2:

And Liesa, I have NEVER grabbed someone else's shopping cart before...........No, really! :rolleyes1

I try my best to get her attention, but she's a lot like the tooth fairy around our house. Lazy and often late.

The shopping cart story is pretty funny! Especially that you "stole" their nuts!! :lmao:

I felt pretty bad after I got home- in between fits of hysterical laughter. :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Somehow, we need to get access to the Winco security-cam footage!

As far as accidental gas-passing goes, that's why you bring your kids with you! Portable scapegoats. :thumbsup2

Yes, I actually do that!! (Did I just say that?!) But hey, you do what you gotta do.

Can you imagine what they find on security footage around the country!? Lover's spats, nose pickers, you name it!

You are crazy! Society isn't safe until you get past this big presentation.

I know! You never know what kind of crazy mishaps might happen next because of my pre-occupied mind!

Not what you said...what those poor people you stole from said.

I'm SO CONFUSED!!! :lmao:

I'm with Glenn - I prefer brownies plain. But technically the walnuts weren't ripped off - you just shopped from an alternate grocery aisle - I'm sure they charged you for them in the end. Now the other person involved will be tearing up her cupboard, looking through all her sacks and finally checking her receipt then scratching her head and wondering if she's losing her mind! :lmao:

I bought a package of deli-slice ham a few weeks ago. Ryne is my putter-away-er so I left the groceries with him. The next day I went to make a sandwich and tore up the fridge looking for the ham. Then I checked the freezer and the cupboard (my putter away-er doesn't alway get things in the right place:rolleyes1) still no ham. The receipt was still in my purse - yep I'd paid for it :confused3. That night (day and a half after buying groceries) I grabbed up the pile of plastic bags to stick in bag holder - and there at the bottom of the pile was one that was a little heavier than the rest :sad2:. It was wrapped in white paper and the bags were white.....but still :sad2:

Yeah, poor lady! She was probably really hoping for pesto last night! :lmao:

Bummer!! THat was probably about $5.99 down the pooper!! Hate when that happens; almost as bad as leaving the spaghetti sauce out over night, because everyone was too tired to put it away the night before.

The gowns look terrific! :thumbsup2

Why thank you!

As for me, brownies and walnuts are the natural pairing, and like Glenn said, it makes for a much better story!

I'm sure her work was REALLY great if she actually sewed for others--- AND MADE MONEY!! :worship: I would NEVER offer to sew garments for ANYONE! But would love to develop my quilting more- I love doing that! Someday when I get as lucky as Kathy with the lottery (I guess I'd have to buy more that about 2 tickets a year...) I may get myself a long arm quilting machine. Anyway, it's great you have such a neat memory of your mom and that you can honor her that way!! :thumbsup2

Yes, brownies deserve nuts! It's like Jack and Jill, Elizabeth and Darcy and ketchup and fries.

Nancy Drew and the Case of the Missing...

wait...can I say that on the DIS?

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Good one.

Liesa, the dresses are just beautiful. :goodvibes

Thanks!! Almost as nice as the tie dye I wore the other day made by a certain lovely DISer I know...;)

Liesa- The dresses are beautiful!!!!!!!

My vote-no NUTS! I like mine without nuts... :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: And I prefer mine with.

Those dresses/gowns/whatever you want to call them are so beautiful Liesa!

Thanks, Tinkgurl! Hope I can finish putting in sleeves, hemming, and zipper by tomorrow!!! :scared1:

Hi Liesa,
I am very late to this TR party, but I came over from Brookelizabeth's after "meeting" you on her TR. Okay, now I have to go back and read through everything.!

:welcome: Dreamer! Late is not a word we use here! Anyone is welcome, any time! And of course, the more you post, the more fun we have! :dance3: Hope we see you a lot!!

You stole someone's nuts.

How many people can say THAT?!

:rotfl:

I hadn't thought of THAT!! :rotfl2: I guess it was a one-of-a-kind sort of theft!

The dresses look beautiful! Be sure to get plenty when you are all dressed up too!!! As for the brownies, you gotta go with the stolen walnuts!

We will!! I am so excited!! I just wish we didn't have to be up early and ready for our big spiel the next morning!

:sad2:

I think anyone can learn to sew. Really, I do. I am living proof. Being left-handed (I am too) can be tricky to teach though- quilting is the same way. Especially using the rotary cutter.

I'm caught up on your report!! :cool1: Puking on the train!! Ugh, they must have felt horrid! But the hotel must have been a slice of heaven for them.

The sense of relief upon walking in that room was palpable for sure!!

What beautiful pictures of the church! So magnificent!

I wished I had a bigger, badder camera. Seriously, the trip made me totally want to get into photography in a major way!

I vote - walnuts!!

Since I didn't end up making them, and a nut-hater did, they ended up NO NUTS. My DH actually has a mild allergy to walnuts (a slightly sore tongue) I don't usually alllow myself the luxury of putting them in.

I can't wait to hear about the ball! It sounds like it will be a wonderful time. You and Bek will be the belles of the ball!!

Did I forget to mention that Mikki is going too? She put her costume together today from stuff we had around the house- and is going as Esmerelda from The Hunchback (the book version). I love that I didn't have to sew one seam for her!

Hope you are feeling better about your presentation Sunday. I'm sure you will do an amazing job! :thumbsup2

I'm not; still have a fair amount of work to do on it.

,

Love the dresses- so talented. All I have made are curtains.

As for the brownies, WALNUTS all the way. Us the pecans for some bread pudding a la Food and Wine.

Curtains are fun and easy!! Straight seams are good seams!! :thumbsup2

How could he possibly have mixed up cereal and milK!!! Man, that's funny!! He sounded even more muddled than me.

Hmmm.... that sounds yummy- as do waffles with pecans. :cloud9:

Love the gowns. So pretty. I say no nuts- I am allergic to walnuts......

you know - what will be a good PS to the walnut story, is if you make your brownies with walnuts, get to where you are going, and somebody there says "I was planning on making those, but when I got home I didn't have any walnuts.....I could have sworn I picked some up":rolleyes1

So you tried to make off with the wrong shopping cart? Was there anything else good in there? I bet that poor soul is still wondering what the heck happened to their walnuts!

Those costumes are absolutely gorgeous. No, I could never do that, so I am super impressed!
