Tracy - glad to hear that your step-father is home and making some progress.

Just Jamie Tinker - good to see you posting and emoting! :thumbsup2 :) I'm glad to hear that your father's blockages were caught and he has come through surgery well.

Liesa - another great update! Loved the pictures of the 2 and a half foot thief.

The lamb! Oh no, tell me Mike didn't get the airline lamb!

Loved the update Liesa! A few thoughts:

Nice soccer field! :rolleyes1 DS13 would just LOVE playing on that one.

The picture of the town you took before you left reminded me of NYC during rush hour! NOT! :lmao:

Nice picture of the food porn. "Because that's what DISers do".....too funny! I'm guessing there were some around you who wondered what the heck you were doing taking a picture of your stupid meal!!! :rotfl2: Little did they know that in a few hours it could be evidence!

I have a "little thief" story I will have to tell you about sometime.

Refreshing Tower made me :rotfl: . There is nothing like a refreshing tower after I've consumed some BBQ ribs. I'm just hoping Mike didn't spend too much time on a "refreshing tower" after his lamb "digested." I'm hoping it was the lamb, not because I would wish ill on Mike, but because so many of you had the chicken and I've fought that "too many butts, too few seats" battle before after a bad meal ran its course! :scared1: I'm guessing a trip for some Immodium was in your future!

And that "B" in the picture is from the sign on the front of Country Bear Jamboree!!!

Oops, sorry, had to come back and make it white after reading further and finding the rules...... :rolleyes1

Liesa, I'm exhausted just reading about your journey so far.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. It's amazing sometimes how we forget how different life is outside of "home."

Different in just about everyway possible!

Oh, boy, we're just getting warmed up! :lmao:

Just glad for the gift of his having come through the surgery with flying colors and is already up walking and moving out of ICU today to a regular room. :littleangel:

I"m so happy to hear this Jamie! Sounds like things were caught just in time! Hope you all continue to see him improve everyday with new strength and encouragement!

Liesa - another great update! Loved the pictures of the 2 and a half foot thief.

Unfortunately, he got the lamb- which I didn't get a picture of. Just imagine meatloaf with taters and gravy. With deadly microbes mixed in- or so we thought.

Loved the update Liesa! A few thoughts:

THat was the very field/track I did all my 5K running on. Nice, huh!

The picture of the town you took before you left reminded me of NYC during rush hour! NOT! :lmao:

We had incredible 5 story skyscrapers. Funny, when we asked our acquaintances, and the students in my English classes if they could travel anywhere, where they'd go, they'd always say some VERY large city, like NYC or Tokyo. They are fascinated with large cities and skyscrapers. :confused3

I'm sure they did! But the lady sitting next to me was sleeping, and in the small planes you really can't see the others in the other rows- which really helped when I needed to pick my nose. ;)

I have a "little thief" story I will have to tell you about sometime.

Ooooo-Ooooh I wanna hear it!

We never had that problem- we just went out to the yard and dug a hole and suffered out there.

Nay my little traveled friend! Imodium is in EVERY ditty bag of the frequent traveler to Asia or S. America!! Right there next to the Rolaids, and Exlax- STARTERS and STOPPERS, Pal- that's what life depends on sometimes.

Awesome Update Liessa !!!The pix of Blankistan are just mind boggling !!! We take soooo much for granted here !!!A taste of reality is always good for the soul:hug:

JJ good to see you figured out the smilies !!!!:cloud9:

My day was good but very busy yesterday !!Started off with finding the check I was supposed to get for the consumers was not ready and the accounts department knew NADDA!! Few phone calls and I had the promise of said check in a few hours !!:scared1:Not good as I had planned my day according to getting the dang thing in the early a.m.!!:scared1: I then corrected all the papers from the previous days case reveiew and faxed them over to a BIG boss and miraculously only 1 yes 1 minor correction needed !! SCORE I could actually get this dang thing turned in EARLY!!:banana:

A trip to the office and the bank and I worked furiously on getting all the money starightened out which of course didn't go well !!Trying to count piles of money and ringing phones just don't mix !!:rotfl2:

Then it was OFF to job 2 where I learned I was working alone :scared1::scared1:
Now on a Friday they all get their allowance and wanted to go SPEND it :rotfl2:
The boss stuck around and I was able to accomplish that and deal with 1 consumer who THOUGHT her grandma was taking her out but never showed !!:scared1:!Things like this can cause BRICK throwing episodes :rotfl2:!!But again Rosie handled it and the night went well !!!

As for where the said original BRICK came from !!:rotfl2:Our maintenance guy had put it behind the office door to stop holes in the wall from door being pushed violently open !!!I guess he didn't think of a door stop!!!!:lmao: Needless to say he can fix holes in the wall again or do the logical thing (doorstop) :rotfl2: Knifes have also been moved to another drawer until she figures out where we should be safe :rotfl2::rotfl2:

So it was an OKAY day!!!

Brick throwing is a "good day"????!!! I'd hate to see what your very bad day looks like, Rosie!!!

Glad I could provide some reality for you today!! :goodvibes My kids think I"m unreal most of the time.

I thought that might be the case.

So it helped a lot then, huh?

Pleading the 5th...

Although I have to say, refreshing towers can do wonders for almost anything.

Uh-oh...this whole lamb situation has me very, very nervous for you!

Hey there!! Yes, what happens next leave you gasping for air.

Why do I get this awful feeling something happened due to your hubbie ordering the lamb.... :sad2: That's why I ALWAYS order the same thing as someone else so then we can both suffer if something happens from it

Amazing update. The pictures of the surrounding area are astounding. What a culture shock it must've been the first week you got back in the states.

Nice food porn on the plane by the way. You've learned well :thumbsup2

Well, remember that when we get to that installment- in this case the answer is going to surprise you.

Did you get your computer fixed?? How did that work out?

It is STILL a culture shock; looking out the window at green trees, deer traipsing through the yard, fresh fruit right from a farmer's market- all is so different. Of course, living where life was simple had its finer points as well.

Yeah, LOL! That's what DISers do... no matter how mundane and boring it is. :rotfl2:

I'm gonna guess ya 'll should have ordered the lamb :confused3:confused3

I am really enjoying your trip report. I "lurked" a bit on your pre-trip report. :surfweb:
I was always intrigued by your Blank-a Stan reference. My son (Air Force) was deployed to Krygystan for a few months, so I wondered which "stan" you were living in.

Thanks for sharing your journey with us.:goodvibes

OH GOSH!! Someone who knows the "stans" somewhat!! How very excited I am that you came out to join us! I think I know which AFB he was at?? Manas??

Is it still open? I can't recall what happened to it during April and June's coups.

Anyway, I'm thrilled to be sharing my journeys with you! Please stop by often- we're a pretty friendly bunch here. :goodvibes

I am uploading pic from our trips now - so I know exactly where this came from :banana:

Country Bear Jamboree

Or maybe it's the "BO" in Glennbo????? ;)

All cuaght up!
Shann Congrats on the weight loss. I am very sorry for the loss of your Mom. I lost mine last July. Many of us have lost parents in the last year or so. I bet they have found eachother and are smiling down on us.

Tracy I am glad that your Dad is home. My Mom also had COPD and high blood presure. You are very sweet to take such good care of him. Hugs

Rosie I think we have-in my case had similar careers. Many of your stories I can relate to. I also think I am familar with the group you are doing excursions with. Small world

Liesa I am also tired reading about your journey. You have a way of putting us right there. I love your descriptions and pics.

Great update, Liesa. I love the "little thief story." He is very cute, but I had a feeling something was up when I saw him standing next to who I assume was his mom and inching forward. :rotfl2:
