Mary - I can just hear the wheels in your head spinning about whether to cancel the trip and what to do about details and if everyone would get along and everything would work out. I am so glad to hear it worked out even better than you expected!!! There were so many bumps for all of you getting to take this trip - I am so glad that it exceeded expectations!!

I see your little green light on!!!!!!

I just got home from work now I need to read the last update. It probably took you all night to respond to all this banter while you were away! :lmao:

My light is always on and off. A little here, a little there.

It did. ;)

2 in a row! :)

Mary... wow so much to think about before you even left for this trip. But by reading your last line, it seems everything worked out.. for the best! :goodvibes

2 in a row, but certainly NOT a record for you.

I'll let Mary share to what degree it worked out for her- at least from her perspective.

Wow, that does sound like so much stress! I'm so stressed about our trip and it's just people I know, nothing new or scary. I keep second guessing all the details and finances are scary me this time around too.

So glad it was all worth it though and can't wait to read more!

I think a lot of the stressing out and obsessing we do over our trips is really not necessary- Disney practically bends over backwards to make our visits exceptional. It would take some REALLY bad mojo to not feel something magical there. Plan the best you can, and let the rest take care of itself. :goodvibes (And then come back and tell us how it all went when you're back!)

Hi Tim, I just read through your TOC posts about your upcoming MAW trip and I was a blubbering idiot. I'm so glad you guys are getting to go on this trip and wow you must have such a strong family to endure all those hospitals and doctors visit. I had my DD's 18 month checkup yesterday and after reading your posts I have to admit I was even more grateful than usual after her checkup went well. I think I smothered her with more hugs and kisses than usual, lol :rotfl:

He has most of us that way with every post!! His threads should have a Kleenex warning with them.

Mary, I'm so glad that all of your fears were put to rest and you had the Best. Trip. Ever. :goodvibes

ME TOO!!!

Hey Liesa, I don't have time to read everything right now since in 2 days you have gotten up to 12 pgs :scared1: but I'm in!

WOW!! I am really glad you're here!! I poked around on your thread last night too- but have yet to catch all the way up. I will though.... :thumbsup2

I also understand a Disney trip and sharing a room with someone you don't really know - did that the first time in 2004 and wondered all the same things. We had a great time and many trips followed. :)

I feel sure your time with LeeAnn and Leisa was wonderful and cannot wait to hear all about it...about both experiences! popcorn::

I totally hope more trips come out of this!!! It was all worth the wait- and the company made it even better!

and the one which you kept talking about before your trip is missing from your list: the weather! :goodvibes

Liesa, the new neighbour sounds lovely! I am impressed how busy you already are with makig jam while you are also bringing the house in Salem in order. :scared1: When are you going to move there?

YES!! The obsessing over weather- you'll have to wait on how we did in that dept.

Today is applesauce. In our house, it's a crime to let apples sit on the ground without going into a jar. Waste not, want not. ;)

My pipe dream is to be in by Christmas, so I can host the big family deal there. But it all depends on that job hunt. Only time will tell on this one.

Good Morning All!!!Ready for another update and more banter in between !!Both are wonderful!!Yes you too Marv and Glen!!:rotfl2:

Yes, we especially love the chatter (and chatterers). Another update may be not until next week sometime. Weekends are a tough deal around here!

Dear Lord...I just realized. I leave on my trip tomorrow. I'll be gone 7 full days. Do you know what that MEANS?!

When I log into the DIS next Sunday, this TR will be on the 143rd page of it's third thread.

Carp.

:headache:

(;))

NOw you know how I"m feeling right now. Gone a week or a year, you'll be hopelessly behind on WAY too many threads.

Joining in. Just a little late. School has kept me busy this week :sad2:

Nope- not late at all! We're just getting warmed up. And I know about school- it's consumed my week, and I'm not even the one going.

Mary I'm so sorry you started your trip with some apprehension. But it sounds like Disney worked its Magic and all was well in the end.

Disney's magic is alive and well.... Wait til you hear about how they wowed us once again!

I think it was better than ANY of us dared to hope for!!

Wow this thread is zooming along since I was here last! I got a quick glimpse last night that Mary had posted a TR update, but didn't have time to read it! It WAS my 27th Anniversary after all, so plans got in the way of my DISing...... ;)

Hmmm... all donkeys are pretty darned dumb- so I"m not sure. By the way, have you ever heard a donkey toot? Just wondered.
Can't say that I have. My grandfather's farm had pigs and cows, but I don't remember a donkey..... :confused3
Still no flippin' clue what you're talking about.
I made one of those posts on Kathy's thread (a couple days ago) that was an intentional set up to get made fun of. I had a particular response in mind that I figured either Glenn or Dan would make, but neither of them took the bait, or came up with the expected response. I was gonna declare a winner if someone used the right comeback, but.......:rolleyes1

Okay, now you can tell me that was a rhetorical and you really didn't care..... :rotfl2:
Marv. I realize I screwed up the order of you guys. But, I was too lazy to go back and change them. Sorry!!
I knew what you meant, I just didn't want her to be confused....
Actually, it was a total accident. And realized I should have alphabetized them to keep the bickering down to a minimum too late. :rotfl2:
Did you just call Dan a total accident? :scared1:
Good Morning All!!!Ready for another update and more banter in between !!Both are wonderful!!Yes you too Marv and Glen!!:rotfl2:
Well at least you only lumped me in with Glenn there Rosie. I KNOW how much you love Glenn, so I'm guessing that's not that bad....

Oh Mary I can hear the stress and....aprehension, what a lot to try and process and still be excited to go on a trip so long in the making! I am SO glad it all worked out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought of Nordstroms!! Ah well, I found a sports jobbie good for her Taekwondo at a phenomenal 2 for$10!! Shoulda picked me up one for when I start Zumba.

Well I guarantee you it wouldn't be 2 or $10 if you were at Nordy's. :rotfl: Although that said, it's not where I would go for a sports one anyways. And not where I'd go for Kendall either. She really likes Gilly Hicks but I tend to stick to Sears for her (or at least as long as I can get away with it lol!). Besides, thankfully there isn't one of those close by anyway.

I have learned the hard way with sports ones that I really get what I pay for and it's not a cheap proposition. Thankfully for K we can get away with a lot less. You will want support for Zumba for sure.

Then again, if the class is like the one my stupid new gym, it might be so darn crowded you can't even move and so you won't need it as much as you might want. If that makes sense.

Can you tell I'm bitter?

Wine!!!?? OMG! I have GOT to tell you about my future neighbor in Salem. She LOVES to talk- just like me; she loves to can- just like me; AND she is a wine rep for not one, but SEVERAL local wineries. She has taught wine at Lane Co. Comm College, and pretty much is an EXPERT. OK, here's the best part. She says her door is always open for tasting, hanging out, and just generally making merry. I LOVE MY NEW FUTURE NEIGHBOR!!!!

Cool! What wineries?????????? what's the timing for selling the Portland house?

:yay: I'm here, Gals (and Guys!) Can't wait to read all about it! :yay:

Kathy

:wave2: Hi Kathy! There will be some cool autism moments in this TR!

Great start Mary!! I could truly feel your stress as I was reading it. It reminds me of myself when I have a million worries swirling around in my head.

But the best part is that it turned out to be your best trip ever!! :cloud9:

It was an awesome trip!!! It was neat that it turned out so great since I was so worried about stuff...

Good Evening, Tracy!!! I had NO idea she was so stressed out about it!!! She really covered it up well, but now I feel badly that she even had too- or thought she did!!!

Aw! You didn't need to know all of that stuff. I hate complaining, really.

You have NO idea how slow I can be sometimes. You should ask Mary how many times I "lost" my phone or camera during our last couple of days on our trip. It was completely pathetic! :sad2:

Nah...if mine had not been tied to my chair, I would be losing it all the time!

Wow...two amazing intros! I can't wait to read more about what sounds like an amazing adventure!

(Plus, this is clearly where the fun lives.)

Thank you!

This is a fun place!! :)

2 in a row! :)

Mary... wow so much to think about before you even left for this trip. But by reading your last line, it seems everything worked out.. for the best! :goodvibes

Everything worked out GREAT!

Wow, that does sound like so much stress! I'm so stressed about our trip and it's just people I know, nothing new or scary. I keep second guessing all the details and finances are scary me this time around too.

So glad it was all worth it though and can't wait to read more!

Yeah...you know, I really didn't fully "feel" all of that stress...I was a lot calmer...but that is what I was wondering in the back of my head.

Mary, I'm so glad that all of your fears were put to rest and you had the Best. Trip. Ever. :goodvibes

Me too!

Ohh, Mary!!
f809de82.gif
I could feel your stress in the post..and even relate to it as I had a similar experience many years ago planning a trip for a family I'd met once with a teenager with serious challenges. Your concerns were my concerns exactly...but our trip worked out great and am praying yours did as well. Although I did not have a wheelchair to contend with..bless your heart!!

I also understand a Disney trip and sharing a room with someone you don't really know - did that the first time in 2004 and wondered all the same things. We had a great time and many trips followed. :) I have a trip planned with a DIS friend whom I've not yet met in person but we've become very good friends over the last year thanks to cell phones! I'm still a teeny bit concerned as we do the parks differently, but know we will compromise and have a wonderful time together. ::yes::

I feel sure your time with LeeAnn and Leisa was wonderful and cannot wait to hear all about it...about both experiences! popcorn::

The trip worked AWESOMEly!

I really, really hope that we have future trips with the three of us and others joining us of course! :)

It was such an awesome trip!

Mary, I am so glad that all those worries about the trip were unnecessary and you had a wonderful trip! You kept so silent about most of them (the wheelchair issue is the only one I remember), and the one which you kept talking about before your trip is missing from your list: the weather! :goodvibes

Yeah...well...I guess I could say I was apprehensive about the weather...but weather is just interesting to me - I was never really worried if it would hit or not. A little part of me thought it would be fun to have a hurricane, honestly. No one to get hurt, of course!

Dear Lord...I just realized. I leave on my trip tomorrow. I'll be gone 7 full days. Do you know what that MEANS?!

When I log into the DIS next Sunday, this TR will be on the 143rd page of it's third thread.

Carp.

:headache:

(;))

Ha! Very valid fear! My personal guess for this TR is that it will be 6 threads before it is all over. And that may be underestimating it a bit. We are having so much fun with the banter!! :)

Mary I'm so sorry you started your trip with some apprehension. But it sounds like Disney worked its Magic and all was well in the end.

It is all good! Really! We had a blast!!

You can hear my wheels grinding away, can't ya! HA! I had some of those fears for meeting you guys, too and it worked out great!

This trip really did exceed all of my expectations in nearly every way!

I think it was better than ANY of us dared to hope for!!

It was!!!!

So glad you added this part Maroo! That's great to read.

Oh yes! I couldn't leave you thinking I was not having any fun!

hi all, i made it over, so glad you are home and have started the trip report.
maroo, i cant believe how much stress you had before the trip. i am so glad it all worked out. i cant wait to hear about every detail.
i promise to start keeping up again. i had some post disney depression after our return from a glorious, fun filled , rarely rainy, first trip with just my hubby and kids, first time leaving the parks to relax at the hotel pool mid afternoon, first trip on the dining plan, first trip to the lovely polynesian, ninth visit overall to the happiest place on earth (thats as close as i get to writing a trip report) but i can live vicariously through you girls so here i am:banana: and i cant waitpopcorn::

Wow this thread is zooming along since I was here last! I got a quick glimpse last night that Mary had posted a TR update, but didn't have time to read it! It WAS my 27th Anniversary after all, so plans got in the way of my DISing...... ;)

It is zooming along- and I hope to get the next installment written this weekend- although now that that is half over... chances are getting slimmer. I was completely wrapped up in making applesause, following my son's contracting ceremony at the Western Kentucky/ Indiana game, taking my kids to sign up for Taekwondo, a church potluck, yada, yada, yada... Fun, but carpola, I"m exhausted!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! And many more to a lovely couple!! :wizard:

Can't say that I have. My grandfather's farm had pigs and cows, but I don't remember a donkey..... :confused3

Just remember to STAND CLEAR!!

OK, gotcha. ;)

Okay, now you can tell me that was a rhetorical and you really didn't care..... :rotfl2:

OK, if you insist.

I knew what you meant, I just didn't want her to be confused....

Thanks for clearing that up- sometimes, I AM too lazy to make things crystal clear-like.

Did you just call Dan a total accident? :scared1:

Not intentionally. :rolleyes1

Well at least you only lumped me in with Glenn there Rosie. I KNOW how much you love Glenn, so I'm guessing that's not that bad....

Be glad she only did that!!

I'm here!
Wow, 13 pages!! You sure are Mrs. Popular.:goodvibes

Hi Barbara~!! I think it's going to take me a long, long time to get caught up!! But I'll get over to yours eventually!! Mrs. Popular. Actually, I'm rarely here anymore- it's everyone else that keeps things going here these days.

Can you tell I'm bitter?

Cool! What wineries?????????? what's the timing for selling the Portland house?

Point well taken! I will make sure things are shopped for well in this area- lest we find things out of order down the road. :rolleyes1 I start Zumba on Monday, and have absolutely NO idea what I'm in for!! Here's my plan... Zumba on Wednesdays, treadmill on wednesdays and swim laps on Fridays or Saturdays. My latest crazy idea is to train for a triathalon. We'll see....

I need to ask again- she spouted off about 3 in rapid fire succession- but I can only assume they are all Willamette Valley ones. I do know her brother owns one here in the valley, and she does the business side of things.

We'd really like to sell by Christmas, but may have to wait until spring when the market picks back up. First new carpet, paint, landscaping.

So glad you added this part Maroo! That's great to read.

uh-huh!!

hi all, i made it over, so glad you are home and have started the trip report.

GREAT to have you here!!! This affliction known as PDDS is very real and potent. HOpefully, our TR can act as some sort of healing agent to your most recent case. :goodvibes

Isn't the POLY amazing??

Hope I'm welcome here. Life ( surgery, cancer....) got in the way of my DISing this summer, but I need to focus on other things so I'm throwing myself back into the mix!

Oh Mary! I'm so sorry to hear about all that stress and concern before the trip. I'm glad you just threw it all to the side and went for it!!!

The trip worked AWESOMEly!

I really, really hope that we have future trips with the three of us and others joining us of course! :)

It was such an awesome trip!

Yeah...well...I guess I could say I was apprehensive about the weather...but weather is just interesting to me - I was never really worried if it would hit or not. A little part of me thought it would be fun to have a hurricane, honestly. No one to get hurt, of course!

I bet the trip was incredible!! So happy for you all. Wouldn't it be fun to get a group together for a trip -with so many TR followers, it would kinda be like our own MouseFest. :rotfl::teeth:

I know what you mean about the hurricane excitement! We've been at Disney a few times when a hurricane was brewing...one came through in the early 90's. I was with my Godson and we were sooo excited! People from home (Boston) actually left us voice mails saying they were jealous we were going to have a hurricane (knowing it was not causing heavy damage along the way). It was interesting watching the CBR CM's making preparations - putting away umbrella's, hammocks etc. Well, we slept though the storm! Next morning around CBR we saw lots of palm tree branches all over the grounds, those heavy plant holders were knocked over. We went to the Studios and the clean-up was amazing - other than a few damaged trees, there was little sign that a major storm has been through.

This yr were in St Augustine Beach when those 3 hurricanes were possibly making their way up the coast - our first few days it was very windy, the ocean was gorgeous and the smell of the salt water was fabulous! The beaches were closed 6 out of 8 days...I'm sure those who came to swim were very disappointed. We were able to walk along the shore....waves were so strong instead of getting our feet wet, it went above our knees! Loved it!

Visiting the very end of August or early September is there is a chance of a tropical storm or hurricane passing though. While I'd never want it to be one that caused a lot damage, it is exciting. :goodvibes

Back on page 11. I will try to catch up while at work if possible.:thumbsup2

I made it over! I will TRY to keep up with this. I did horrible keeping up with the PTR.

Yeah...well...I guess I could say I was apprehensive about the weather...but weather is just interesting to me - I was never really worried if it would hit or not. A little part of me thought it would be fun to have a hurricane, honestly. No one to get hurt, of course!

All caught up. I feel the same way. It would have been kinda fun to slosh around in a hurricane. I have done it before. :rolleyes1 Luckily I bought trip insurance and well, that took care of that. Best $66 I ever spent.
Now my eye is back on the weather for the next trip. Not worried per say but just so I am prepared.

I worry too. But some of the best moments are those you don't plan for. I am just now learning that. :headache:

Hope I'm welcome here. Life ( surgery, cancer....) got in the way of my DISing this summer, but I need to focus on other things so I'm throwing myself back into the mix!

Hey There, Shannon!! I"VE REALLY missed you!! And couldnt' figure out where you'd gone!!

I wish you'd said something- I'd have been overjoyed to pray for you! Is there anything we can do for you, as you go through this?? How are things now?? PM me, if you'd like!

So glad you're here- and we'll do our best to help you take your mind of more pressing things going on!

Oh Mary! I'm so sorry to hear about all that stress and concern before the trip. I'm glad you just threw it all to the side and went for it!!!

And that she did!!!

I bet the trip was incredible!! So happy for you all. Wouldn't it be fun to get a group together for a trip -with so many TR followers, it would kinda be like our own MouseFest. :rotfl::teeth:

Dang-tooting YES!!!! What a fun time that would be!!!

Back on page 11. I will try to catch up while at work if possible.:thumbsup2

Then you're exactly where I was yesterday, too. Takes some work keeping up, but totally worth it!!

I made it over! I will TRY to keep up with this. I did horrible keeping up with the PTR.

GREAT you are here!!! Actually, I think you did GREAT at keeping up with the PTRs as well. So no worries!

Thanks Liesa!
Maybe your internal clock is just still in a different time zone!!! ;)
Some of the funniest comments I ever heard were, uh, UNintentional. :rotfl2:

I"m afraid I've made WAY too many of those UNintentional comments along the way... I crack myself up sometimes. But, then again, so do a lot of you!! :lmao:

And yes, my internal clock is VERY much still in Eastern ST!!! Stinkin' if I'm not in bed every night this week by 9:00!! That is TOTALLY unlike me, and I hate it that I"m so tired!! Sure hoping things turn around soon- and my NECK!!! OH! my aching neck!! I have GOT to get a new pillow!! Cynthia, expect a call soon to talk pillows!!

I worry too. But some of the best moments are those you don't plan for. I am just now learning that. :headache:

We had so many of those unplanned moments- and they turned out to be some of the best- like our running into you!! But when and where will have to wait!
